  1. Some of the best riders ever have been gate and go merchants... they just do it consistently
  2. Methanol bikes are probably cleaner than electric bikes
  3. You've summed up TV in a nutshell there... everything from the news to live sport
  4. They're probably sitting on a beach somewhere sipping on pina colada's
  5. You have to remember it is one of the best edited shows on TV for the purposes of entertainment
  6. ... and rename the club Birmingham Baltis
  7. Nicholls did give the UK a miss one year when he decided to "concentrate" on Poland... came back mid season with his tail between his legs though if I remember correctly. Also didn't Nicholls have "issues" with riding for GB? Elected not to do the British Final and wouldn't ride for a Saturday club because it conflicted with TV work? I'm with you on Harris and Schlein though
  8. A great servant to British Speedway, you always knew he was going to be at a meeting, no mysterious illnesses, van breakdowns, always gave 100% and showed enjoyment when he won races with his straight arm fist pump. Always supported British Speedway when others were jumping ship. Probably should have been World Champion when he was riding at his absolute peak (when he was Hans N Andersen ) if he could have combined his form from 2007 & 2008... who knows? I can't ever remember seeing a better exponent of the block pass, hard riding up the inside of a rider and just parking it in front of him, I'd never really seen that before. I hope he gets granted a farewell meeting, he fully deserves it!
  9. I hope he works it better than he did with the screen on Eurosport
  10. Just read it. A real Speedway "promoter" and how the sport could do with somebody like this in it's current state. For me, he flew under the radar a bit as a rider but as a promoter brought glory to what at the time was my local team the Long Eaton Invaders and gave me something to look forward to during the long close seasons with the Telford meetings. Was only listening to him recently on the Speedway Tavern podcast telling some great stories and with some great opinions on Speedway, if you've not heard it, check it out. https://youtu.be/7TY4fDm8gkA?si=7jB8Hq0UJJXQY-gp RiP Judge
  11. If they want to make SGP more like MotoGP they should get radical and make the GP's 1 race over 70 odd laps with all 16 riders racing on the track at the same time and have pit stops... otherwise leave well alone, Speedway is not MotoGP
  12. "Warsaw and Cardiff are getting a serious qualifying makeover" https://www.fimspeedway.com/news/speedway-gp-world-championship-points-up-for-grabs-as-sgp-sprint-races-debut-in-warsaw-cardiff I'm pretty much lost for words
  13. Makes my blood boil when I hear these politicians constantly saying they're going to "look" at things... code for I acknowledge your concern but absolutely nothing will be done about it!
  14. It would be nice to hear from one of the Administrators... if only to know they still exist!
  15. If it's anything like here in Leicester there's a hell of a lot of derelict urban land that these housing estates should be built on and thus the re-generation of areas before these building companies get to greenfield sites
  16. you've certainly hit the nail on the head there
  17. They had the pick of the league before them along with everybody else... Well, as soon as they knew they were continuing, still plenty to choose from
  18. Rider shortage isn't the issue for Birmingham though... they themselves said they had a "short" list of around 7 riders
  19. A great day for British Speedway, it's only a (bloody fantastic!) step in the right direction and there will no doubt be other hurdles thrown in the way but hopefully this at least sets a legal precedent
  20. Only due to a straight jacket the sport has put in itself! Crazy!
  21. I think the answer to the original question... was yes!
  22. What a terrible shame, probably a wise decision though in terms of risk vs reward
