  1. Does he not know there's a perfectly good speedway track and stadium in existence already, owned by his business partner and one he's promoted at for years? What the flippin flip?!?
  2. I think end of April has been mentioned... with a break for the Olympics
  3. They could easily do a Swindon though, include a flat pack Speedway stadium in the plans, sell the houses and then pull the stadium down
  4. One big league for me, with rider numbers in each team to suit rider availability, 6 rider teams or whatever. Clubs to run on the night of their choosing. The 7 team PL is a joke and the CL is fast approaching the same quantity so the time is right for OBL imo
  5. Are Thursday's Britain's to "give up"? I thought it was Monday and Wednesdays that were protected but we just elected to go for Thursday's instead, don't know how Denmark fits into that scenario? I thought it was all agreed at FIM level, could be wrong of course
  6. I wonder if Sudden Sam still has his racing gear
  7. I don't think they can, thought this was the final decision. I don't know if it applies to that specific planning application though... could they submit another one with a running track instead of a football pitch for example... or a Speedway stadium, now there's an idea!
  8. Coventry used to have mechanics kits and it all looked very professional. Too many butt cracks on show at the moment for my liking
  9. He probably needs the money to build his speedway stadium somewhere within 45 minutes of Swindon
  10. I don't know, normally leagues follow suit with mechanical standardisation. http://www.scbgb.co.uk/news.php?extend.79 https://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/87441-rev-limiters/
  11. They already have rev limiters in the SGP, so they not in the BL?
  12. Yes, I was thinking that myself. Even if you adjust for inflation it doesn't seem rust much more than what is reportedly being paid today
  13. Something that absolutely no one was calling for! They should concentrate on introducing things they've already promised before introducing gimmicks like this. Do you know who's idea this actually was? Will it put any extra bums on seats, pull in any extra viewers, entice any additional sponsors/advertisements?
  14. https://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/6620381.speedway-sky-splashing/ ... and that's when £5m was worth something! £9m in today's money. Don't know whether that's before or after TR's cut
  15. I think that's the current deal isn't it? The early Sky deals were much larger we were led to believe
  16. Some of the best riders ever have been gate and go merchants... they just do it consistently
  17. Methanol bikes are probably cleaner than electric bikes
  18. You've summed up TV in a nutshell there... everything from the news to live sport
  19. They're probably sitting on a beach somewhere sipping on pina colada's
  20. You have to remember it is one of the best edited shows on TV for the purposes of entertainment
  21. ... and rename the club Birmingham Baltis
  22. Nicholls did give the UK a miss one year when he decided to "concentrate" on Poland... came back mid season with his tail between his legs though if I remember correctly. Also didn't Nicholls have "issues" with riding for GB? Elected not to do the British Final and wouldn't ride for a Saturday club because it conflicted with TV work? I'm with you on Harris and Schlein though
  23. A great servant to British Speedway, you always knew he was going to be at a meeting, no mysterious illnesses, van breakdowns, always gave 100% and showed enjoyment when he won races with his straight arm fist pump. Always supported British Speedway when others were jumping ship. Probably should have been World Champion when he was riding at his absolute peak (when he was Hans N Andersen ) if he could have combined his form from 2007 & 2008... who knows? I can't ever remember seeing a better exponent of the block pass, hard riding up the inside of a rider and just parking it in front of him, I'd never really seen that before. I hope he gets granted a farewell meeting, he fully deserves it!
  24. I hope he works it better than he did with the screen on Eurosport
  25. Just read it. A real Speedway "promoter" and how the sport could do with somebody like this in it's current state. For me, he flew under the radar a bit as a rider but as a promoter brought glory to what at the time was my local team the Long Eaton Invaders and gave me something to look forward to during the long close seasons with the Telford meetings. Was only listening to him recently on the Speedway Tavern podcast telling some great stories and with some great opinions on Speedway, if you've not heard it, check it out. https://youtu.be/7TY4fDm8gkA?si=7jB8Hq0UJJXQY-gp RiP Judge
