  1. This from 1979, nothing much changes apart from the biro warriors have turned to keyboard warriors:
  2. This from 1979, nothing much changes apart from we don't ride in those conditions anymore:
  3. Good though wasn't it... all packed into 1 hour with some of the more embarrassing bits edited out
  4. The more interested parties the better I would say as far as the seller is concerned
  5. ... lions@leicesterspeedway.com on a confidential basis. What concerns you about that? I wouldn't expect to see it in the exchange and mart
  6. Central/ATV used to cover Speedway (Cov, CH & Leicester) quite a bit, often in a graveyard slot though, add in Anglia (KL, Ippo & Peterborough) and regionally Speedway did quite well. Nationally World of Sport covered Speedway across a Saturday afternoon. So we did quite well really
  7. Don't mention the title win... I mentioned it once but I think I got away with it
  8. Er I think we were still reigning champions when racing resumed in 2021 I'm glad you agree it wasn't mentioned though
  9. Hopefully the new owners will be more local and take more of a proactive attitude in actually actively promoting the club to the local community. While the Bates have brought success to the club, the club did nothing with it in terms of promotion and once the title was won in 2019 it was barely mentioned again, then of course there was the debacle of last years final. Let's hope that the Bates can go out on a high with victory in the Jubilee Trophy!
  10. I found it interesting that "security" immediately suppressed the victim and not the aggressor... shows what you can get away with if you wear any kind of uniform
  11. What a terrible advert for Speedway racing tonight, it was like watching speedway from Poole
  12. How on earth is it that the people involved in bringing the sport to us know so very little about it? It's utterly astounding!
  13. I'm guessing it's because in the past the local guys have ballsed it up and they don't want to trust them, not at Wroclaw but certainly others. It also doesn't help having practice so close to the actual meeting, it definitely didn't help when the SoN was last held at BV
  14. It's OK for marketing, social clips etc... but it adds absolutely nothing to the coverage of a meeting, in fact quite the opposite, it's just a gimmick What a terrible track
  15. No I won't... I'm going to stop before it descends into a Monty Python sketch
  16. Apparently Sam "forgot" to take the test before he left the stadium... but offered to take one the next morning after he'd remembered
  17. Sam Ermolenko apparently according to the Speedway Tavern podcast he missed a drug test at a test match at Hackney back around 1987 and was suspended until it was overturned on appeal Only in Speedway
  18. I don't think Harris covered himself in glory the last time he rode at this level, no doubt there's 40 pages of hate on this thread:
  19. That's exactly my point but in Neil's original post he suggested that his thinking would be different because it was a TV meeting
  20. Because Speedway in Poland is all about the team, when "the team" isn't involved you get crowds like you do in this country. it's why their league Speedway works, no made up the day before teams, full of guests, R/R's and double uppers. It's what the BSPL just don't seem to understand
  21. It's not just about face fitting though it's about making yourself available for selection to ride for your country. Scott Nicholls was approached apparently but declined to carry out Tv duties... though was strangely absent tonight. I assume that the journeymen Brits have been offered GB team spots in the past to broaden their international experience but have also declined
  22. Bar the top 3 all of the others are of a very similar standard. You look at who rides for GB in these European team meetings held throughout the season and its always Brennan, Ellis, Harris, Kemp and some of the other young kids, so I'm guessing and it is only a guess based on what Allen has said that the likes of Wright, Lawson, Worrall et al decline to ride in these meetings and rightly or wrongly or very much counts against them for selection for the big meetings
  23. There's some real OTT reaction on here tonight for a meeting we won! People seem to have got it into their head that Woffinden gave Brennan his ride with absolutely no evidence to support this (that I'm aware of). The manager(s) surely made this decision. Yes argue the toss over team selection, personally I wouldn't have selected Ellis but listening to Allen on a podcast the other day not all riders show as much willingness to ride for their country as some but I believe Adam Ellis must/does.
