  1. The amount of meetings I've seen this season where there has been a need for a medic to tend to a member of the crowd! A sign of the aging demographic I suppose... going to need a 3rd medical crew at tracks soon! And an undertaker on standby Jesus! There's 2 separate people fibre down, heat 1 wasn't that exciting! Hope they're both OK
  2. Maybe it was extended a year due to covid? Or was 2024 all along? Or they've done a1 year rolling extension?
  3. That may be more down to noise issues which you wouldn't have with leccy bikes. It'd be more akin to horse riding... and there's nothing more unpredictable as a horse having been on one once
  4. I'm not at all familiar with Ice Hockey... what are the similarities?
  5. The public are currently let loose on the foot paths of the UK on electric scooters and electric bikes that go at a fair old pelt... This would be even safer than that with protective equipment, you could even lay a soft foundation like they have in children's playgrounds
  6. Asking what BSN is and now this... Have you been in a coma? https://www.poole-speedway.com/news/view/2020-10-14-eddie-k-wins-blue-riband-on-this-day-in-2016
  7. Many people Go-Kart... with the advent of these electric bikes maybe something could be setup along the line of go-karts to let the general public have a go, like a stag weekend activity
  8. That maybe so, I'm obviously not saying they're identical, just a lot of similarities... for some reason, folk will turn up to watch a load of people we've not really heard of (club players) and we need to be looking at why that is
  9. Interesting post on Twitter: https://twitter.com/SpeedwayGP/status/1698281487244595332 When asked why no Manchester GP in 2024, SGP actually replied to a tweet with the answer "Contracted to 2024"... I wonder if anything can be read into that? As WBD have generally ditched all of the "Destination" tracks in favour of "Traditional" tracks
  10. As strange as it may sound, Speedway & Cricket have many similarities and should probably be fighting for the same audience... they're both heavily effected by the weather, the participants play for many teams around the world and locally in the UK have to work around the giants of the IPL, they're both sold as "family" sports, especially the 100 & T20's. Speedway really should be looking to replicate the Cricket model
  11. I love heavy metal music... but I wouldn't dream of subjecting a stadium full of kids to pensioners to it. You play the classics that everybody loves, proven to work, they're classics for a reason... If I wanted to listen to club anthems I'd go to a Swedish House Mafia concert. Have you heard the music they play in between overs at a T20 match? Not one "drop" to be heard... and packed stadiums. I can't think that anybody would say I'm not going because they played Sweet Caroline... but I can think of many that would be put off by the incessant thumping of the "music" they play out at such a high volume
  12. All of a sudden the Lions team looks like it's a team full of reserves
  13. Having watched it back on TV, what an achievement by Jack Holder which went pretty much unnoticed in the stadium, while we were being treated to dance cam and Mexican wave cam and being asked to "make some noise" the true enormity of what Jack Holder was doing went completely under the radar. Kudos!
  14. I would suspect the hotel prices are high every weekend and not just for Speedway, it is a capital city with many attractions and I would think there's some kind of event on most weekends
  15. And they keep getting binned out of team spots to fit in with the numbers game, it's got to stop!
  16. It's an event rather than a speedway meeting, it's like when you go to a big stadium concert, you know the sound is probably going to be pants but it's all about the atmosphere. If you're a speedway purist, it's probably not for you.
  17. Totally agree, but... you've occasionally got to back your gob up with performances or you just become a bit of a gobby prat. His move back to the UK genuinely seemed to spark something in him, I hope he returns to the UK next year and steps it back up again. Watching his reaction after winning his opening race in such fine style was something I hadn't seen from him in years!
  18. Personally I thought it was all a bit meh, with a meh winner, especially after Woffy crashed out, I genuinely thought he was going to win it! It was only a glorious success when measured against last year's fiasco. The presentation is so poor compared to how it used to be, club anthems pumping out over the PA (WBD clearly don't know their audience) and some self indulgent announcer who clearly loves the sound of his own voice prattling on during the grading breaks. When looking back at it in a few months/years time I suspect it'd be hard to recall any particular highlights other than the Woffy crash. On the whole, it was enjoyable... but certainly no classic... meh
  19. Looks to be a more exciting series than the SGP this year. Bomber 1 round away from becoming World Champion! I'll admit I didn't think he'd have the consistency or mechanical standards to do it but he's made me eat my words, and I'm happy to eat them, let's hope he can bring it home in a couple of weeks... shame it's not getting the publicity it deserves. Is the final round available to watch anywhere?
