  1. I did indeed... 1981 World Final, fantastic day, quite a warm one if I remember correctly also remember my dad paying 50p for a can of coke... 50p in 1981 was probably as much as it cost to get into a league meeting. A few comments... Is Wembley still Wembley? I haven't been to the new Wembley so I'm not sure. If it had kept the Twin Towers maybe but to level the place and start again I don't know. Other stadiums have been re-developed and kept their iconic structures. Cardiff couldn't attract 20,000 last year, 20,000 in a 74,000 stadium looked bad, 20,000 in a 90,000? Not a great look. Peter Oakes was the person that got the "story" onto the Daily Star website a nice bit of publicity for the sport but nothing more than that. If Speedway were to return to London and that's a big if personally I'd prefer to create a new history at the London Stadium which has a smaller capacity, better transport links and infrastructure set around it.
  2. Don't hold your breath... this is just a bit of free publicity thanks to Peter Oakes (nothing wrong with that)
  3. £20 is a fair price... but we love Speedway, would you pay £20 to go watch a MotoX meet? I have no interest in MX, don't know anything about it but having just done a quick google search there was a meeting at Oxford last year, Sunday entrance was £25 and for that there was nearly 5 hours track time... compared to our 15 minutes... actually for 5 hours I might https://tmxnews.co.uk/news/motocross/british-motocross-championship/mxgb-2022-british-motocross-championship-guide-riders-travel/
  4. You know my feelings about "2nd halfs", as this was my way into Speedway and this biggest promotional tool the sport has, the let em in free option has been closed off with the abandonment of 2 halfs. £20 for something you may never have seen before is quite an outlay these days, but if you've been to a few 2nd half freebies and thought, I like the look of this you may be more inclined to shell out for the "real thing", I know me and my dad were and a lifelong hobby began. And I'm talking about proper 2nd halfs, not just junior track time practice sessions, 2nd halfs that involve the senior members of the club, maybe for them to try things out etc. It's time for the riders to step up to the plate to save the sport in this country by not disappearing as soon as the 15 heats are over to their next booking for a different club. And it wasn't just a tool to get fans in, it was also a tool to get local companies involved with sponsorship, companies would sponsor the Rider of the Night trophy and bring clients along and have their photo taken with the winner at the end of the night.
  5. Because there are absolutely no sporting consequences
  6. Yeah, i know, i get you... for some reason these guys fly under the radar, they're not as high profile as some of the other kids, they're quite quiet, they just go about their business scoring points
  7. JT was 2nd top scorer for Scunny tonight... and barely got a mention on BSN, now there's people on here speculating he'll be replaced and the same for DT on the Leicester thread... people need to cut these kids a break
  8. If we have a wet May what's the next competition to be culled? The KO Cup?
  9. Some great team riding between Nick Morris and Alfie Bowtell tonight
  10. The club will also be making a significant announcement before racing starts, and supporters in the stadium will get to hear the news first. LEICESTER: Max Fricke, Justin Sedgmen, Richard Lawson, Chris Harris, Nick Morris, Jake Allen, Dan Thompson. WOLVERHAMPTON: Sam Masters, Steve Worrall, Rory Schlein, Ryan Douglas, Scott Nicholls, Zach Cook, Leon Flint.
  11. Was mentioned during commentary on Saturday night that the bikes have Rev limiters set to 13,000(?)... has this always been the case? And is that being applied across Speedway? (BL?)
  12. You forgot to mention KK... although Krosno will probably insist he goes to Wolves
  13. Don't forget we're talking about Ilya Bendybonko, he'll be good for at least 3 turns around the showground I'm sure
  14. Yeah... feeling your pain a bit this season. It's a sign of the times with the trouble the sport is in but he's become a bit of a joke within Speedway and it ain't particularly funny when your team ain't winning
  15. 5 guests, 1 R/R and 1 team member... I think it's been done
  16. If that's the case, I'd rather hang on to Max
  17. Whilst very much being a Bomber fan, based mainly on his performance for Coventry in "that" play off final... I must admit that now he's riding for "my" team again and we're currently not very good I'm finding his omnipresence throughout speedway a bit of a p1ss take and a bit disrespectful. He's even riding for Peterborough tonight after a pretty average display this morning. I never thought I'd find myself thinking this but would I need unhappy to see him replaced? Probably not tbh.
  18. Even cheaper when you consider the Rouble ain't worth rubbish at the moment
