British Final 2022

So, no Lambert, no Tai... one wonders whether they were asked again as Bewley said he only found out he was in it when it was announced on Eurosport, I assume he wasn't joking -
maybe waiting for a Leicester injury crisis?

Peterborough v Wolves - Mon 11th July
IainB replied to bigcatdiary's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Not the Turbo Twins... more The Tortoise Triplets I can't think they'd be sacrificing earnings this year in the hope of a lower average for next year There was some fantastic Speedway racing last night and right from heat 1 this week. It's sad to watch Hans Andersen riding like he is at the moment, he's been a great servant to British Speedway and I hope he rides himself out of it, when his bike gave up the ghost even Mrs Panther threw her (his) hands up in the air shaking her (his) head... although it didn't quite wipe the smile off her (his) face . Scott Nicholls for me is not such a surprise, I would say his year last year around the showground was a freakishly good one as he's never really been that competitive around the bigger tracks before. -

Totally agree. He obviously loves his speedway to still be continuing in the NDL at his age, the CL is too strong for him to move up imo, the league needs weakening next year to encourage riders of his calibre to stick with it and be decent 2nd string/ reserves -

Even though he's a Lion Cub, poor "old" Connor Coles... can't catch a break anywhere! -

It's OK though as we have a ready made replacement in Connor Coles who's just been binned off by Scummy -
how many matches is that? not gonna fill the calendar for most clubs is it, it'll be Leicester, Poole/Glasgow struggling to get their meetings done at the end of the season, while they wait for everybody else to sort themselves out

You can't even get "regular" fans in to support your team! It's not about attracting existing fans, it's about capitalising on the Commonwealth Games being held up the road. And why are people going on about athlete security? Somebody has mentioned it and you're parroting it as fact. Seems like you lot will make up any excuse not to get a crowd along. As for having no idea... I think you need to look closer to home, your promotion has done a stonking job at packing Perry Bar to the rafters, it'll just be you and@HGould attending Perry Bar at your current rate I hope you're very happy together!

Let's hope the Queen makes the 31st of October!

perhaps it's as well as the summer trophy as there doesn't seem to be any Speedway between the Beginning of August until the end of October... will her maj be presenting the trophy?

Might not be around for much longer... get down there while you can! -
I know... it's really not good enough, I thought Speedway was a summer sport! Just as the school summer holidays start British Speedway pulls the shutters down... absolute madness!
-
Why are you constantly looking for obscure excuses not to get a crowd into your local club, that have been in trouble since the very start of the season (and last season)? These are athletes not prisoners, it doesn't matter if they don't return once they've gone home, you just get them through the doors! I'm sure they'll all have a bit of cash on the hip or packages could have been offered to each of the national athletics bodies or the organisers, they'll have money to p1ss away. Doesn't really matter what the quality of the line-up was there's more than enough British, Australian & NZ riders based in this country to put a line-up together... it's the tie in to the games that is the selling point not the meeting. But no, you continue to sit there and think up of reasons why things shouldn't be done, continue to watch in front of crowds of 300 and enjoy the last match on the 10th as it may be your last... which would be a shame after all of the effort that went into getting the Brummies back on track again.
-
Last Birmingham team match is scheduled for August the 10th though. As for the Commonwealth Games meeting, simple a Commonwealth Riders Championship featuring a line up of British based Commonwealth riders, heavily promoted in the athletes village the night before the opening ceremony, hardly rocket science
-
I've probably paid to be at more speedway meetings than you've had hot dinners. If you're happy for Birmingham speedway to be the best kept secret in town that's fair enough. It is my concern because your failure is a reflection on the sport I love Birmingham vs Poole is hardly going to draw in the international crowd that you have literally on your doorstep. Running a Commonwealth Games tie in meeting is a no brainer you would have thought... As for whether you make the end of the season, as that's probably going to be the 10th of August, you may just do that one.
-
Don't come on here crying when you're closed next season... idiot
-
It's good to know that you're so confident in your product at Birmingham that you'll look for almost any clash to avoid running against it As a sporting club bang in the middle of it all Brummies should be part of it all, not hiding away... probably the reason you're struggling to make the end of the season. Even if you're afraid to run on the 3rd, why not the week before, the day before the opening ceremony?
-
Are Birmingham limited to running on Wednesdays? I wonder if ALL other entertainment establishments will be shutting up shop on that night?
-
So with the Commonwealth Games being held in Birmingham, just up the road, from Thursday the 28th of July to Monday the 8th of August in the height of the British summer, I assume the Brummies promotion is in full swing in trying to attract along some of the thousands of visiting people in the city and some of the athletes just a stones throw away from the stadium... by holding some kind of spin off Commonwealth Riders Championship, a money spinning meeting to boost the coffers? Oh, hang on... AUGUST Wed 03 - NO MEETING - HOME

IainB replied to crescent girl's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Sorry if you don't like my bedside manner but the league table really doesn't lie. Bandits are bottom of the table because they haven't won enough matches. For me it does look like a team that probably shouldn't be at the bottom of the table as when you look at it on paper Birmingham look far weaker, they're probably only above you due to a freak win at Oxford. For me an observer from a distance I think you're probably a heat leader short for heats 13 and 15, Flint has been promoted to a heat leader spot before he's really ready for it thanks to the under performance of Ricky Wells. Knudsen looks like he'll be a good signing once he masters your track "them's the breaks" -
