  1. Thanks for the abusive comment, I have a £16.50 to £20 interest in every match I pay to see. This sport really does have the fans it deserves!
  2. Start up a new company buy the assets, business as usual
  3. I don't know why most clubs haven't jumped at the chance of a government loan and then just declare bankruptcy when the time comes to pay it back... there will be thousands of companies up and down the country doing just that!
  4. One of the best races I've seen anywhere in a long time
  5. If you're going to talk about me, at least have the decency to @ me so I can know When you see Speedway like that there's not a lot wrong with the sport is there? It's a good job the forecast was a good one on the Thursday If you could guarantee a race like that once a meeting instead of once a season, I suggest there would be far more people on the terraces. To be honest, although I don't like it, I'm not so concerned about the Peterborough postponement... The Eastbourne one does worry me though, just because mystic meg has seen some cows sitting down in a field and the "promoter" has leafed through the radio times they've postponed the match. This sets a dangerous precedent in my opinion. Matches never used to be called off based on forecasts, now they are with more regularity, and now 2 and half days ahead of start time. The BSPL should not allow clubs to call meetings off until the day of staging without penalty, probably a match forfeit. It causes fixture congestion not just for the home side but the away side also and with riders doubling up and stadium availability there are limited opportunities to restage matches on regular race nights... even with a 6 team league in Peterborough's case. How early is too early to call a match off based on a weather forecast? At the moment it's 2 and a half days... next a week? Some clubs don't seem to want to go to any effort to get matches on these days, gone are the days of packing the track down to take the rain, working it after rain has passed and spreading sawdust to soak up the moisture if it was particularly wet.
  6. I really can't think of ANY good reason to become a promoter of a "sport" that has so much wrong with it. I'll wait until it dies its inevitable death and a phoenix rises from the ashes.
  7. Just being a realist. You can't think everything with the sport is all A OK?
  8. You'll be out of business soon enough at this rate... don't worry about that!
  9. Wouldn't be the first time a Programme had to be reused with a printed insert
  10. What's ridiculous is canceling meetings based on a weather forecast 2 and a half days away and a browse through the Radio Times!
  11. Not because it was clashing with Eastenders though!
  12. I wouldn't be so foolish as to "invest" my money in a business I had such little control over.
  13. If i had to call it off based on a weather forecast, I would at least wait until the day of the event
  14. Well you can't run a league system on this basis, I'm afraid if this is to become the new normal then the leagues need disbanding and individual competitions be run in its place. It renders a fixture list meaningless to cancel based on weather forecasts.
  15. Yes, because everybody else is doing so well at it aren't they? They've run it down to such a state that they can't afford to run a meeting based on a weather forecast 2 and a half days out, competing against a recordable TV programme showing foreign riders riding in a foreign country... they're doing everything right and should not be questioned or commented on. I'm referring to Eastbourne. As for Peterborough, they're clearly running in the wrong league
  16. Why so early though? This sets a dangerous precedent imo
  17. I was looking at my weather app yesterday telling me there wasn't a cloud in the sky and wouldn't be for the next hour... looked out of the window to see grey cloud in all directions to the horizon
  18. They're forecasting the probability of rain during that time. Have you looked at the rainfall radar to see what's coming across the country? It's showers
  19. Yeah, I've just read that and commented on it on the Birmingham Kent thread... why call it so early on a forecast? Wait until Friday evening or Saturday morning... they're not even giving it a chance. I think the real reason behind this is the GP on TV... they should be asking themselves why people are staying home watching TV and not going to the speedway. I'll be going to Leicester this Saturday (weather permitting), the speedway may well be rubbish and I'll be recording the GP
  20. OK, I've read it... doesn't explain why it's been called off so early, if you were going to call it on the weather why not wait until Friday evening or early Saturday morning? It sounds more like the GP on the TV is the issue rather than the weather... in which case they should probably be asking themselves why would somebody would prefer to stay at home and watch speedway on the TV rather than experience it live
  21. You have to question whether they're running in the right league then, if they're already hamstrung by track availability to then further limit yourself by the madness of only being able to run on a Monday or Thursday seems a bit daft. Looking at the forecast, it's for showers, so they may or may not arrive. It may be that they get "lucky" and are proved right or it maybe we're all sat at home on a sunny evening. It's no way to run a sport though.
