  1. Well you can't run a league system on this basis, I'm afraid if this is to become the new normal then the leagues need disbanding and individual competitions be run in its place. It renders a fixture list meaningless to cancel based on weather forecasts.
  2. Yes, because everybody else is doing so well at it aren't they? They've run it down to such a state that they can't afford to run a meeting based on a weather forecast 2 and a half days out, competing against a recordable TV programme showing foreign riders riding in a foreign country... they're doing everything right and should not be questioned or commented on. I'm referring to Eastbourne. As for Peterborough, they're clearly running in the wrong league
  3. Why so early though? This sets a dangerous precedent imo
  4. I was looking at my weather app yesterday telling me there wasn't a cloud in the sky and wouldn't be for the next hour... looked out of the window to see grey cloud in all directions to the horizon
  5. They're forecasting the probability of rain during that time. Have you looked at the rainfall radar to see what's coming across the country? It's showers
  6. Yeah, I've just read that and commented on it on the Birmingham Kent thread... why call it so early on a forecast? Wait until Friday evening or Saturday morning... they're not even giving it a chance. I think the real reason behind this is the GP on TV... they should be asking themselves why people are staying home watching TV and not going to the speedway. I'll be going to Leicester this Saturday (weather permitting), the speedway may well be rubbish and I'll be recording the GP
  7. OK, I've read it... doesn't explain why it's been called off so early, if you were going to call it on the weather why not wait until Friday evening or early Saturday morning? It sounds more like the GP on the TV is the issue rather than the weather... in which case they should probably be asking themselves why would somebody would prefer to stay at home and watch speedway on the TV rather than experience it live
  8. You have to question whether they're running in the right league then, if they're already hamstrung by track availability to then further limit yourself by the madness of only being able to run on a Monday or Thursday seems a bit daft. Looking at the forecast, it's for showers, so they may or may not arrive. It may be that they get "lucky" and are proved right or it maybe we're all sat at home on a sunny evening. It's no way to run a sport though.
  9. I'd say it's all part of the issue of not running a summer sport in the summer. When is the play off deadline?
  10. Especially when you're limiting yourselves to Mondays or Thursdays only!
  11. They may as well pull the plug on the whole season then smh
  12. What covid restrictions of those? Are Eastbourne operating differently from the rest of the country? I was looking at the forecast on my phone app yesterday evening, it was telling me there wasn't a cloud in the sky at that current time... I looked out of the window and couldn't see any blue sky at all. What a ridiculous decision to call it off so early!
  13. See you on a wet Tuesday night in the last week of October for the most important match of the season! Ippo of as well... and Eastbourne on Saturday, unbelievable Jeff! 1 home match in July 1 home match in August Absolutely ridiculous!
  14. The question is, will the "promoters" be "promoting" the next meeting in the same way they were "promoting" this meeting? Or was it just a one off and they think that's it we've now done "promotion". Does anybody know if the promotions that they did have running were successful? Track walks, meet and greets, viewing from the centre green etc.
  15. Was good to see a 1 min time allowance introduced for restarts in the GP's this season... something I've been saying that British Speedway should have introduced years ago... yet still haven't!
  16. It doesn't even have to be a hint in the air, these days even a forecast of a hint of dampness in the air is enough to cancel for some tracks
  17. Where on earth have you dug that up from?!?
  18. Leicester have just signed the next Darcy Ward in Zaine Kennedy... so far the jury is very much out
  19. For me you can corelate that also to the Simon Wigg race fixing story, coincidence? I'm not sure. Athletics has taken a similar turn with all of the questions marks surrounding the competitors and drugs. It used to be on the terrestrial TV channels most weekends back in the 80's and 90's
  20. I seem to remember the Star doing a big piece on the future of Speedway a couple of seasons back when it really seemed as if the sport was at a cross roads. Didn't they do a big survey and almost the whole edition was devoted to it? And what happened? This is what has happened... @Sings4Speedway has replied almost word for word exactly what I was going to reply Ah but where is SMI now? That proves they were wrong... is probably the BSPL thinking. Used to enjoy the SMI a better read than the Star I thought. Talking of the Star... what's happened to @PHILIPRISING is he ok? Used to be on here quite a bit but has disappeared recently
  21. Ask true competitors like Nigel Mansell and Lewis Hamilton... or even any Speedway rider who has ridden in front of a crowd
  22. But you are sure of it? lol 1) you didn't, I said that it does or can make a difference. I did pick one rider out, I could have picked others over the years. Gollob always raised his game in Polish GP's. Bomber won his home GP with a hugely partisan crowd. 2) I'm talking about human performance in sport. You can stick to speedway if you like if you think it helps your argument... which, of course, it doesn't.
  23. Very few spoke English when I used to go to Zakopane a few years back... have you ever tried to mime sickness and diarreah to a Polish chemist
