  1. They can add them to all of the GTR engines they've got... just need to buy some dodgy bendy frames and they'll have enough for a complete league of unrideable bikes
  2. So after the initial 3 hour programme which, apart from the actual racing, was introductions, explanations and adverts, Monday nights transmission was cut back to 2 and a half hours and a very scaled back production. Abby presenting on her own, minimal interviews from "Brando". The new deal was greeted with great fanfare and while glad and grateful to watch live British Speedway on TV last Monday's match was a far inferior programme than what was previously offered by Sky and BT Sport. Where was all of the detail and analysis that was promised and going into greater depth... a lot of the programme seemed to be the camera scanning the... erm... crowd, playing Where's Wally. There was also some atrocious direction with the age old problem of the pictures cutting away to a close up of the leader on his own just as there was a move about to be pulled at the back.
  3. Looks like a bit of a dead rubber this one, but the weather forecast is good so I've got my ticket (including booking fee) and will be there to hopefully see some good racing. Unless there's some weird teams I can see the only excitement here being whether they can beat the sun going down and get it done before any delay is needed.
  4. I seem to remember Steady being told the same thing years ago... Bates like Stead is probably just not good enough to put the teachings into practice
  5. Is that because you're particularly ugly in that part of the world? Please take that as a joke... You do have a regional stereotype to live up to!
  6. I've also booked mine, it said £18 £0 booking fee... Where on the website it says admission is £17, don't know about you?
  7. I thought the one on telly was pretty good, BH Monday wasn't great, but then it never is and you were up against a weakened Ippo side last night. Most riders haven't "raced" in nearly 2 years, maybe a bit early to be blaming the tyres, who knows like you say may be part of the reason
  8. You only have to wear them in the stand at Peterborough
  9. Maybe it's because these tyres were introduced in the GP's where a rider will be using a new tyre for every race, where we're trying to make them last a whole meeting, whether the "ingredients" are the same I don't know
  10. Well, that was pretty rubbish racing and contest wise... was just nice to be out on a nice summer's night watching some Speedway though.
  11. There's lots of crazy health & safety regs at Peterborough, I don't know how the leader of the council gets out of bed in the morning, they must be terrified!
  12. Actually, looking on the Leicester website, entry is by online ticket purchase only, so there's no choice the stated £17 is actually £18. I bought my rained off Leicester vs Edinbugh ticket using the old booking system so actually saved myself 50p... 1p cheaper than Scunny lol
  13. Probably more due to most riders not racing for nearly 2 years. Although having said that, when I was hanging around the pits after the match at Peterborough last week there was a lot of scrutiny of 1 particular tyre... Buster Chapman, Rob Lyons, Hans N Andersen, Richard Knight, Peter Oakes and a few others having a good hard look at it. So something didn't seem quite right.
  14. I don't really care which it is tbh, but it would be nice to know if you are paying a booking fee compared to those that turn up and pay on the day
  15. Haha... I know what you mean. I'm guessing that the system being used has been bought in or is being used on a subscription type model which is where I'm assuming the booking fee comes in, to pay for it. All I know is that I used the Peterborough system to buy a ticket for almost every match this season and the booking fee said £0 I wanted to do the same with the Leicester system (same system) and they add £1 per ticket and I can only book a ticket for the next upcoming match. I don't know if you can pay at the door at Peterborough but on their website it says the price of a ticket is £20. So either Peterborough are getting their system for free, bearing the cost themselves or not being up front about the booking fee.
  16. I would assume that the booking fee goes to the system operator as I would think that this has been subbed out as a number of clubs are using the same system. Some have chosen to show the booking fee some haven't
  17. An online booking system should all be done automatically, and would run with minimal user intervention once setup with the fixtures, which I suggest wouldn't take more than 1 hour. I just find it strange that some clubs should be encouraging the use of the booking system yet choose to add the surcharge to that instead of the pay at the door punters that actually are using up the time of actual people (probably unpaid volunteers)
  18. I refer to the booking fee swindle, we've all experienced it with Ryanair and/or Ticketmaster and it now seems that some British Speedway clubs have come to the party. I have booked tickets at a few venues so far this season and again there seems to be no uniformity. Scunthorpe: £17 at the door £17.51 with online booking fee Belle Vue: £20 at the door £20 no online booking fee Peterborough: £20 at the door £20 no online booking fee Leicester: Before new booking system £17 at the door £17.50 with online booking fee Leicester: After new booking system: £17 at the door £18 with online booking fee, tickets being released a match at a time, meaning £1 extra for every match using the online booking system. You pays your money and you takes your choice I suppose but Leicester's "choice" to release one fixture at a time does seem to be taking the p155 a little
