Don't think cov will choose Lynn, Bees record ain't exactly brilliant round saddlebag road -

Doesn't seem to be the case at Cardiff though, the crowd mix always seems a lot younger there to me, I wonder where they're all coming from -
Belle Vue V King's Lynn 20 July, 2015
IainB replied to Aces51's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I've only just become a semi-regular at Belle Vue (would help if they didn't keep getting rained off!) as I'm working away from home in the area for a while and I must say one thing that has struck me about the place is the average age of the punter... and it doesn't bode well for the future of the club! I'm no spring chicken myself but I'm shocked at the lack of younger people attending. I wonder why the sport attracts young participants but not a young crowd? -
Why Do Sky Always Show Race Starts From The Front?
IainB replied to Sunshinesdad's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think they could be a bit more innovative with some of their angles, the coverage hasn't really come on in the last 15 years -
is it R/R for Morris tonight?

21? -
If Leicester's usual practices are anything to go by, nobody will find out until about 7:40 when the teams are read out on the parade and the money is safely in the bank

Even Chris Holder's form has picked up with the promise of Darcy coming back, doubt he'll be at Leicester on Saturday though... could be wrong

Is It Time To Re-introduce Tape Touching?
IainB replied to IainB's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I think it could mix things up from the starts a bit, maybe introduce an F1 style random tape release between 1 and 5 seconds after the green light goes on. Or, and this is radical, do away with tapes all together, green light and go! As a cov attendee I regularly have to put up with Garrity, Sarj and Robbo guessing the starts and being pulled back for restarts -
The amount of re-starts these days due to starting infringements is getting ridiculous.is it time to let riders push the tapes again so as to stop the constant restarts

Should Rosco Still Be Team Gb Manager
IainB replied to robert72's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Because surely it'd be in direct contradiction of the 5 year plan (if this exists), the plan also that the England captain said needed to be implemented or he'd retire from international speedway, I wonder if Tai is happy to see Ward back at the expense of the British Under 21 Champ -

Can somebody tell me the last time Cook rode at Cov, it's ridiculous! -
at 7.45 though :-(
-
What a joke! Did the track get worse between 6pm and 7.45? The roads outside the excuse for a stadium were totally dry!
-
and a whole lot of wasted time in trying to find a stream that eventually works was looking at this myself... does anybody know if you can mirror this from your mobile device to your TV... I know SkyGo blocks this feature

For me you can tinker about with all the rules you want, I personally hate the double points rule but it hasn't stopped me going. 10 or so years ago you'd hear the promoters say "we know we've got a good product", I think it's finally dawning on some of them that they haven't. You can try and spin a match out as long as you like trying to fool punters into thinking they're getting value for money, the thing is we're not thick. All I want to see when I go is a good competitive match with some decent racing, not every race is going to be a corker but I believe the trouble at the moment is you're lucky if you see 2 good (and I mean really exciting) races from 15. Yes you can play with the rules to make matches closer thus meaning heats become more important in the context of the overall match, at the moment the sport is geared up for home wins (supposedly to keep the home punters happy), the team manager is totally trussed up in what he can do. I don't want to say things were always better in the olden days as speedway has progressed a lot since the 60's 70's & 80's, it's certainly a lot more colourful but take a look on you tube, there are a couple of interesting documentaries on there about John Davis and Ivan Mauger. You can see that what the sport has evolved into bears little resemblance to those days, the bikes are far too fast these days to produce decent racing (at most British tracks anyway), the bikes have outgrown British tracks, bikes in the old era were at top speed halfway down the straight, these days they're still accelerating into the bends. How you address this without some kind of worldwide reduction in power I don't know. But too often nowadays it's who gates blasts off into the distance never to be even challenged, then the same rider can reel off a number of wins and then look like a novice when they miss the gate and trail around at the back not even challenging
