  1. It was a simple question that you've elected not to answer.
  2. A bit passive aggressive... if it wasn't a prize, what was it? Do you think would they have gone if they hadn't won? 🎰
  3. Blummin eck, I was even there for that NYC meeting and still don't remember the guy... he's taking up far too much space on this forum for such a non entity πŸ˜‚
  4. THE Jamie Westacott? πŸ€” Nope... never heard on him πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ He does like his chocolate and lighters though... I wonder if he was freebasing it? 🍫πŸ”₯
  5. What an interesting photo to "choose" for that particular story πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
  6. BSI already tried something similar with the running of Reading "Bulldogs" (i.e. getting involved in British Speedway) and they couldn't even make that pay and that was without buying Smallmead. A global company like WBD ain't going to go near British Speedway. A pity as perhaps an investment in grass roots Speedway in all countries (except Poland of course) is what is needed to grow the GP series as a token running of a SGP3 & SGP4 once a year isn't going to cut it. If they're not prepared to really invest in the sport I'm not quite sure why they got involved.
  7. It always struck me how different the demographic was that attended Cardiff from what you'd see at most club tracks, whether that was due to the influx of "foreigners" to the event I don't know, but it always seemed quite a younger crowd to me.
  8. I think the CL has a pretty good look about it next season, lots of new young faces which always makes things interesting. Poole don't look all that (they'll probably make me eat my words) Redcar looking favourites for me.
  9. I think you can file a London GP with the Australian one https://www.fullnoise.com.au/fullnoise-news/australian-2022-fim-speedway-grand-prix-cancelled-but-promoters-persist-with-2023-return/#:~:text=Australian 2022 FIM Speedway Grand,Fullnoise.com.au Motorcycle News These WBD guys are πŸ‚πŸ’© merchants
  10. Not rained off, but it was very nearly cancelled/abandoned a few years back due to track conditions. Your final comment succinctly hits the nail on the head though.
  11. You have to wonder with the CL pairs not being in the fixture list prior to the cancelled Cardiff GP date, how long ago this need was known about πŸ€”

  13. We'll never know, of course, but BSI did consistently build the crowd over the duration of their time at Cardiff until the final year, then all of a sudden it halved, yes you could mention Covid, but that doesn't seem to have effected the attendances at any other events.
  14. Merry Christmas to you too Spidvaj πŸŽ„πŸŽ…πŸΏπŸ«Ά
  15. WBD managed to half the crowd from the moment they took over and then did pretty much nothing in the way of promotion to tempt those people back. Like @flagrag said they need to rent the stadium for a period of time to put the track in and that won't come cheap and then all of a sudden the numbers stop adding up. This time the decision truly has been made for "commercial reasons" but you can't help but think that if IMG were still the rights holders we'd all be off to Cardiff again next summer.
  16. Oh what a tangled web they weave. They are the rights holders and ultimately the consequences of this decision, whoever made it, will reflect badly on them with the Speedway fraternity. Why on earth they've bid for and won the rights to stage the competition and then, from what you've just said, seemingly subbed it out is a bizarre business decision! Who is this mystery company that stages SGP's and do they stage any others?
  17. There was something very up when they "announced" the dates so long after they usually do, which had been at the actual event previously, which is why I surmised it wasn't actually going to happen until tickets went on sale. But even I'm surprised at the way they've handled this, no explanation, just a twitter post, put the out of office on and do a runner for Christmas.
  18. WBD have done very little to promote the event since taking over.
  19. It seems to be 10 years in British Speedway these days.
