it could be just 1/2 a point wins a meeting outright if no rider finished in 19 races, and the riders in the other race placed 1st, 2nd and joint 3rd were all subsequently disqualified, leaving one rider with a joint 3rd the only scorer.
...an individual race ending in a dead heat (for 1st, 2nd or 3rd place (2.5, 1.5 or 0.5)).
NB In league matches I have seen 2 dead heats , (1 for 1st place and 1 for 2nd place, never for 3rd)
It was the inaugural season for the 3rd tier.
I attended an early season challenge at Iwade where the programme talks about their keenness to get actual league fixtures scheduled,
yet the records show they then withdrew after just 1 official meeting.
can anyone recall the exact reaosns why they withdrew? thx
I know I have been critical of the Stoke promotion on here in the past, but in relation to this thread, it's not the fault of Stoke or Buxton that other teams have signed up the best young talent in an effort to be successful thus meaning that the less well off teams have to compete in any way they can. I think it better they track competitive teams irrespective of age until/unless all teams in this development league agree to have standard pay and allocate the best youngsters across all clubs.
Coventry leaving Brandon means that since I started watching in 1976 there are now none that have continuously staged top flight league speedway without a break....
