  1. I phoned for my british final ticket and there was no charge.
  2. Bradley Andrews gated competitively all night but was passed in heat 2 by Whitmore (on home debut), in heat 3 by Kinsley, in heat 6 by Campos and in heat 9 by Kinsley before then leading Bailey & Campos in heat 10 for a lap, and still in front of Campos until last lap when again he was passed. Whitmore also passed Basford twice. Purchase gave up after 1st lap of heat 4, was awarded 3rd in heat 8 whilst last, and held off a quicker Whitmore in his other two. I suggest Pottinger thought that Andrews was more likely to come 1st or 2nd even though Purchase had a better h2h with Whitmore ultimately...
  3. wolves had 6 2nd half heats last night, unfortunately the announcer failed to give the riders for heat 1..anyone get the line-up?
  4. Only the 2nd time I have seen a rider score 0 points from 7 rides...and the Brummie fans were worried before the meeting that Powell would make the difference...not sure what happened to the lad...
  5. perhaps there could be a designated marked route across the centre green of each track a couple of feet wide in a direct straight line from pits to tapes with a sign at the pits end saying 'motor bikes - for use when less than 30 seconds on the clock is left only', and 'No entry' at the other end.. A red line painted down each side to prevent anyone stopping for those last minute adjustments, and a marked pedestrian crossing could be provided with flashing beacons. Rob G could be given a lollipop board to be used during busy periods. This should satisfy H&S I'd have thought.. Tracks with pits on same side as starting gate would be exempt of course as that would be silly.. (or riders could just make sure they are ready to race in time)
  6. I was afraid tis was going to be off after 6 heats had been run in 1 hr 40 mins....but the remaining 9 were completed by 9.50 and I have to say the track looked pretty good after the work done with the fastest time being recorded in the final heat which is rare though mot unique. The racing was full of incident and excitement.
  7. Riders are not permitted to ride across the centre green. Perhaps the team manager should have made his riders aware. The rule has been in all season.
  8. not sure I've seen 2 Dutchmen in same meeting since henny kroeze and rudy muts...
  9. I need the heat times for this meeting. Anyone there manage to hear them? not in S.Star so maybe a web site somewhere might have them? anyone know? ta
  10. maybe we should confine to current riders and keep a track going forward.. excuse the pun
  11. Well I quite enjoyed this meeting. Bit of atmosphere on back straight. Some close racing and I thought track looked well prepared. Perhaps I need a new pair of glasses or my expectations are lowering.
  12. they've stopped publishing Swedish and polish attendances in the speedway star over last couple of years...Ukmartin might me able to tell us about Poland first hand?
  13. Redcar carrying an assessed 7 pt rider who is in reality a 3.00 reserve is hard but if the budget they've got only allows them to have the side they have then maybe the NL is the place to be. Crowd looked up on my last visit swelled by a good few from Peterborough. Think club were pleased with the 50/50 total.
  14. I was at Munich in 1989. It was one of the worst meetings I've ever been to.. mainly due to the track - but you're right, Troy Butler qualified from the IC final..the final ine-up was indeed very average... coach journey back was awful too as we left after visiting a beer cellar and several people were ill all the way back to the ferry.. Yuk...every time the coach rdriver braked...well I won't go into details..
  15. if a decent crowd is in the atmosphere is lifted and the racing seems better..even if it isn't. NB I never watch Elte League on TV as I don't enjoy it. I am still attending as many live meetings as I've ever done though. (but possibly out of habit...) I do think the racing deteriorated significantly with lay-downs... I find the statistical side of my record keeping will maintain my interest in attending live meets until I can no longer do so..
  16. the future is as an amateur sport for most tracks.
  17. well done to ref and riders for getting through very quickly and not worrying about the rain.. It made my 5.5 hour drive home a little more reasonable. Also admission charge of £15 with free prog appreciated.
  18. a sport attracting crowds in 100's can have a future.. it's amateur
  19. at end of day it will be his crowd figures that determine his approach. All the time they are winning easily at home and they stay healthy why change? If fans start to get bored of runaway wins and vote with their feet that will be the moment he will have to think of other clubs. Of course if the EL drops to 7 that will be another matter altogeteher. I can't see a PL club coming up under the same terms as the last amalgamation when they were screwed. Leicester's folly all to obvious...can't see them having many local derbies next season!
  20. for this meeting did anyone expect many more? I didn't and I would be dismayed if the promotion expected many more.. We all know increased attendances are seasonal. Based on when the Islsnders last ran i'd say this was decent given the nature of the meeting and time of year..National league sides have survived on less..
  21. probably their best chance of an away win all season
  22. there should not be any changes in rules across competitions. bloody ridiculous and what on earth is there to be gained?
  23. What is the curfew time for this meeting anyone?
  24. I was there tonight. Reasonable crowd in but silent from the off as if they knew what was coming. A number of people left well before the end. I cannot see that a team this weak is doing the EL as a whole any favours at all. It would seem to me that it is only the false averages that are now being used due to the race format that prevents us from easily comparing the real strength of this side against the other sides in the top tier. I recall when clubs were thrown out of leagues unless they reached a certain minimum strength, and Leicester on this showing will do well to win a single match the whole season with the current line-up. Having been to Wimborne Road already this year I can't quite decide whether any Lion would actually beat any Pirate round there, so conceding 70 points on their travels seems highly likely to me. I agree the track was better than on my last visit but to keep the crowd coming they will surely need a No.1. Btw it was 5 years to the day since they re-opened against Sheffield. Perhaps the PL is where they naturally belong..... The two reserves contesting heat 15 says it all really..
