  1. Not the only thing MA've got wrong lately. A Darwin Boy is our ROOBOY! Yep, Arlo's 1st reserve but Robbie K, Spud & Branflake aren't running this year - all busy working hard saving up for the next UK season, with a bit of Xmas partying thrown in no doubt, Oh, Ho, Ho!.
  2. Bu&&er! Oh, well, I'll just hafta let you buy me a few at Brisvegas for the Under-21s!!
  3. What are you doing, Mike? Don't apologise to him, you'll only encourage him; he's an adopted Sandgroper who roots for the Poms, ffs! It's obviously a cunning plan by dirt to get you to buy the first round at Kurri Kurri! Oh, I'll have a Pure Blonde stubby, please, oh, and a JD to help it go down - straight up, no ice - ta!
  4. I doubt if you'd need to, Parramatta is a large stadium which could quite easily accommodate the crowds we usually get for Ozchamps rounds. Kurri Kurri - so good they named it twice - is not as easily accessible and still in it's infancy as a stadium and doubtless the crowd will be lower; I'd check with Peter or Julie on the website. That said with Boydie in charge I'm sure he'll have made some temporary seating arrangements to cater for 4-5000 or so. Gillman won't be a problem either; always time for a few cleansing libations at the Royal Ar$e Hotel before we weave our way to the track. Broken Hill's a bit of an unknown quantity and Mildura while limited by the proximity of the Mighty Murray River can squeeze a fair few in. Incidentally the organisers are warning people visiting Milly for Leigh's Cheerio to pre-purchase at the track prior to the meeting - that'll mean a big crowd for sure; the commemorative dinner aka the LAR Supper is sold out already.
  5. Latest news - the Coomealla Club dinner AKA the LAR Supper is booked out, so if you fancied a feed you're stuffed! We're still waiting on a list of riders & sidecars but Phil Crump, John Boulger and Tony Rickardsson will all be doing laps - don't know if Phil will be on his Harley, but!
  6. Gillman is a work in progress, Humphrey, but it is improving in and it's got the best Hot Dogs & Pasties of any Speedway track in Oz. Oh, and also the best management at the moment in Dave Parker, but who's to say that Kurri squared with Boydie or Parramatta with Tappy wouldn't be up to the job in the future?
  7. Geez you're up early, Dirtbagmeol'mate! Free entry at the WACA today? I'm naturally suss on anything posted on Forums, and have no control over what other folks post. Mike probably has better info than me - it's his website you're referring to, I take it? - I just make it up as I go along.
  8. Pinjar Park, WA had the Wa Under 16s Solos and Renmark, in the Riverlands of SA had a mixed meeting: Solos & Sidecars.
  9. You've been on here long enough to know by now never to believe everything you read on internet forums.
  10. In the meantime we're working on improving facilities - the news today that Gillman is investing in an Air Fence can only be good in the long run.
  11. Dave Lander was badly let down in Sydney by a couple of factors; the weather didn't help during the get-out resulting in penalty payments to the owners of the stadium and the number of freeloading FIM representatives who had to be flown out, wined & dined and accommodated etc was amazing. That said, both NZ and Australia hosted IMG officials this year with the view that it's gonna happen sooner or later so let's have a look, but as with most GPs and SWC the need for outside i.e. government funding is paramount. Contingency plans were drawn up; stadiums were inspected and plans for their temporary modification were drawn up. Neither the Australian State Gov'ts nor the NZ Federal Gov't were willing to chip in so that's where it rests at the moment.
  12. Whaddaya think this is? A democracy or something? Why should the General Public have any input - this isn't the BSPA here - oh, sorry, I forgot! I'd imagine it's up to those who want to ride whether they enter or not.
  13. I'd imagine it's down to the fact that they got their applications in on time, dirtbagmeol'mate! With no time for a qualifier this year I suppose that's what MA have gone for, but Who Knows? No good asking me, as the memory's had the Richard, as Chopper so succinctly pointed out!
  14. Arthur won last year's 350s, but you're spot on, Chopper, Tyson Nelson won in 2009. Wiki's got Brenton winning it - must have been a Wikileak! I blame the Sensory Deprivation I'm suffering due to the latest Diet I'm on! Better have a Stubby, eh! PS (Thanks to Dave Parker for this info) Just found out that Gillman Speedway is purchasing an "AIRFENCE AUSTRALIA" air fence for next season. This is one of the, if not the best thing that has happened for Australian Speedway for many years. Gillman will be doing fundraising and Leigh Adams has already confirmed he will do a meeting for free with all proceeds going to the fund. We all know how hard it is for our International riders to come home and compete, so we have to make it as enjoyable and as safe as possible on their return. Great News!!
  15. All Aussie Line-up for Ozchamps (from the MA site): Jake Anderson; Brenton Barnfield; Mitchell Davey; Jason Doyle; Cory Gathercole; Chris Holder; Sam Masters; Taylor Poole; Ty Proctor; Justin Sedgmen; Rory Schlein; Kozza Smith; Richard Sweetman; Darcy Ward; Davey Watt; Cameron Woodward. Res 1 Arlo Bujega Res 2 Daine Stevens A few noticeable omissions here, and a definite learning opportunity for emerging Mildura teenager Brenton Barnfield, who won the Australian Under 16s 350cc Championship in 2009, but all in all an exciting mix of riders which should guarantee some great racing. Go ROOBOY!!
  16. Five Team tournament scheduled for tomorrow the 18th at Brisvegas has been cancelled due to inclement weather conditions - apparently a bloody great Storm's due. Shame for all the Poms & Swedes that were up there for it.
  17. Fields for Aussie Under 21s & Under 16 350s (from the MA Site): Under 21 Solo: Brenton Barnfield; Alex Davies; Mitchell Davey; Clinton Dennis; Micky Dyer; Josh Grajczonek; Todd Kurtz; Sam Masters; Tyson Nelson; Dakota North; Taylor Poole; Justin Sedgmen; Richard Sweetman; Rohan Tungate; Darcy Ward; Daniel Winchester. Res1: Mason Campbell - good ol' MA - would you believe Mason Campton? Res2: Nick Morris Res3: Ashley Cathcart Res4: Dylan Blain. Couple of surprises there, but some of the lads from SA are working rather than riding this season, and it's a big expense. Can't help wondering what Nick Morris did wrong, but hopefully with the usual no-shows in QLD he'll get a ride. Should be a Ripper! Under 16 350cc: Jake Allen; Harley Brigden; Jordan Dall; Ben Dowling; Robert Gottardi; Cameron Heeps; Jack Holder; Brady Kurtz; Sean McLellan; Dalton Nilsen; Sean Phillips; Arthur Sissis; Tyson Snow; Matthew Thorne; Kurtis Tydd. Great chance for Brisvegas fans to check out the amazing talents of Arthur Sissis, plus see how far some of our juniors have progressed, especially those who rode in the Danish 80cc Trophy.
  18. Last time I attended I booked from Darwin and over the ensuing months whenever I wondered where my flamin' tickets were, having paid for recorded delivery to OZ, I was told they're on the way. Come D-Day when I left Oz they still hadn't arrived but I'd been assured by the website that I could pick 'em up in Cardiff no dramas - took me two hours in the urinating rain following non-existent directions from each and every one of Cardiff's numerous village idiots to find them in a back room of the Athletic Club; those of you who know me will understand me when I say I was well pleased - ropeable wouldn't be putting too fine a point on it. This time I'm getting them sent to a mate's place in Pomgolia.
  19. Worrying news from MA: Chris Holder to blog for MA in 2011 December 15, 2010 Aussie Speedway star Chris Holder will be blogging for MA during the 2011 Australian Solo Speedway Championship. Motorcycling Australia is pleased to announce that FIM World Speedway Grand Prix (SGP) star Chris Holder will be blogging for the MA Website during the 2011 Australian Solo Speedway Championship. The reigning Australian Champion and Redloh Racing star, will give website users an insight into the world of international Speedway and a behind-the-scenes look at the highly-anticipated 2011 Australian Solo Speedway Championship. Excited to onboard with MA, Holder is looking forward the summer ahead, especially following his recent NSW Title win, and is eager to share his experiences with the Speedway fans of Australia. “I’m really looking forward to the blogs with MA because it's something different for me to be doing,” Holder said. “I hope I can share some experiences of my adventures over the last year or so and give people some insight into the sport.” Riding in the SGP against the world’s best, including fellow Aussie and World Champ, Jason Crump, Holder hopes to give website users the chance to see the highly-competitive environment from inside his helmet. “Overseas is a different game altogether,” he said. “You’re up against quality rider’s week in, week out and it does make you a tougher, better prepared rider for sure.” The Appin, NSW native will be writing blogs throughout the upcoming 2011 Australian Solo Speedway Championship, with the first blog set down for the eve of the series-opening first round in Sydney on January 12. For all the blogs and major announcements remember to visit www.ma.org.au, and follow MA on Facebook and Twitter. We'll be looking forward to plenty of "BBBRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!" and "HAHAHAHAHAHAH"- type posts I'm sure - Goodonya Chris! Meanwhile the entries for this year's Ozchamps closed day before yesterday, so hopefully there'll be news on who's who at the zoo shortly.
  20. The Double Kurri site has some great photos & pointscores as well - here.
  21. Wouldn't have a clue, dirtbagmeol'mate! KK should have the heat by heat on their site later this week once they've sobered up! In more important matters Palmo beat Districts 9.5 - 6.11, after supercoach Russell Jeffrey queried their committment & manhood in the NT News this week; Tiges bt Buffs 18.7 - 12.10; Wanderers did the Bombers 17.23 - 15.2 and in a typical Darwin downpour your favourite team - they who must not be named - the Poole of the AFLNT! - beat my favourite Warriors 13.9 - 10.11 - jumped us in the 2nd quarter and we never recovered.
  22. Normal Service was resumed at Kurri Kurri where reigning Cardiff GP Winner Chris Holder took out the NSW Championship from International Jet-setter and Man-about-town Darcy Ward, with Sweets third and Sam Masters 4th. In FNQ Josh Grajczonek reclaimed the Title for the home state from Scott Smith, with Steven Reid 3rd and defending champ Josh Auty 4th. QUEENSLANDER!! A soggy arctic night in South Oz was curtailed by the weather with the results declared after the heats and the Mighty Sedghammer Justin Sedgmen now the proud holder of the Jack Young Trophy, from Nigel Sadler with the two touring Swedes filling the minors; 3rd Pontus Aspgren and 4th Ricky Kling. Pontus looks to have been unlucky in that he was excluded from one race, in which Joe Haines locked up and went straight into the fence: he was taken to Hospital as a precaution with suspected neck injuries/fractures. Ty Proctor went along with him in the ambulance, probably to keep him away from the nurses. Fingers Crossed Joe's OK - I'll try & find out later today how he is. Hopefully the British Promoters will keep an eye on Justin: why he and several other top Aussies haven't nailed down EL berths yet is obviously a fall-out of the Sandhu debacle engulfing UK Speedway - the sooner it's sorted the better.
  23. Christmas do at the Buff Club tonight - Moreton Bay Bugs; Oysters; Lobster Mornay; Tiger Prawns; all drinks at Happy Hour prices - can't see anyone getting much sense out of me tonight - Oh, Ho, Ho! Gillman should have the results tomorrow; can't say about the other two meets - Marcus said he'd post the QLD Results up as soon as, and judging by the number of reprobates in attendance at Kurri x 2 there won't be much sense coming out of the Maitland area for quite a while!
  24. Fingers crossed we'll be lucky with all three of today's meetings, althogh it's thermal undies weather down at Gillman for tonight's Jack Young Trophy. FNQ seems to have missed the huge storm cell that's hit the Gold Coast and NSW should be over before the rain arrives. Eagle Farm, Gold Coast & Ballina Thoroughbred meetings all washed out. Not looking brilliant for the Under-16s 350s at North Brisvegas with only five riders nominated: might end up running with the Under-21s as a one-dayer! Apparently the Queenslanders - bless 'em - were all waiting to be invited to compete: unfortunately if they'd read the fine print on the entry forms they have to apply to enter. Hopefully a compromise - love that word, it's so IN lately - can be reached so we can see Arthur Sissis in full flight around Mick Doohan raceway.
