  1. Racism at its best, doubtless condoned by the BSF. Well done Tomas Gollob; opens up the series even more.
  2. Plzen - would that be the home of Pilsener, perchance? I can see Team Oz doing rather well here - any idea who's gonna be leading them astray - oooooooops, I mean Team Manager?
  3. EnZed leg of the double looks like its on: just waiting for confirmation of Oz.
  4. Thanks to AustralianSpeedway.com: Australian international speedway rider Leigh Adams has announced that 5th January 2011 will be the date of his Testimonial meeting, to be held at his home track of Olympic Park, Mildura. Adams is currently competing in his final year of European competition and hopes to go out with a bang on January 5. “I hope to put on one of the biggest speedway events our sport has seen for many years” said Adams from his UK base. “It will be a special night of racing for all the fans that have supported me over the years and this will be my thank you to them as well as a celebration of the career I’ve had in the sport.” Adams is currently in negotiations with two foreign grand prix riders and he hopes to announce their participation in coming months – should he pull this off it will be huge news for fans down under. The meeting will feature a very strong field of senior riders, some Junior competition, as well as Australia’s top sidecar riders and a host of other cameo appearances by champions past and present. “The Sidecar field is nearly sorted” said Adams, “and all but one of the competitors rode in the Australian Championship this year”. The odd men out are actually the brilliant duo of Glenn and Nathan O’Brien, who jumped at the chance to take part. “What an honour to be part of such an event” said Glenn. “As soon as I got the phone call there was not even a pause, I just said put us in and nobody will keep us away!” “Leigh has done more for Australian Speedway than anyone else I know and this will be my thank you to him for the enjoyment that he has given me and many others over the years”. More information on the Leigh Adams Testimonial will be released in coming months – should be a beauty! Rumours abounding Down Under that Ozchamps will be later in January next year.
  5. OCD - is that 'Old Codgers' Disorder'? NUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURSE!!
  6. Maaaaaaaaaaaate!! Nicki gated in his usual out-of-control legs everywhere style and rode straight across Noddy's line which pretty well stuffed his race. Noddy's in the Big League now; he knows what to expect and I'm sure we won't hear any excuses from him; later on he'll be able to return it with interest. Tai still looks down on power and if it wasn't for that fall Bomber and Hans may have both made the semis. Crumpy was unlucky early on but bounced back and only missed out on the semis by a whisker. Well Done to KB - well-deserved win, and all four finalists were the pick of the meeting. Biggest Thank-you must go to the track staff - maybe if the start of the meeting had been delayed by 90 minutes we would have got a better overall meeting but that's just dreaming now. Shaping up for a great series.
  7. We must have been at different meetings then. Might surprise you if you got off your backside and got trackside.
  8. UK Summer - isn't that a bit like Military Intelligence!! Mind you I remember in '06 at the SWC in Reading it was 38C - Poms dropping like flies!!
  9. Got that right, mp2. I was just gonna record it and watch it later but ended up getting up for it, then cabbing it to the Dawn Service 'cos I would have blown me brief otherwise!! Plus I'm gonna watch it again, right now!!
  10. Only rider good enough to win from Gate Three? Why, Crumpy, of course!!
  11. Anyone with SS supporting them has got problems, Trees! BTW, did you enjoy this one, for a change? I thought it was a ripper, although some dramas Down Under with the broadcast meant that the interviews were totally out of sync with the vision - like about five minutes behind! The riders did full justice to a great track; well pleased with Chris Holder in his debut, he'll learn, as will Tai, who'd better have a look in the shed for better machinery quickly or he'll be well off the pace. Most of the Continental-based riders seemed a bit rusty at first but plenty of lines at Leszno gave them the opportunity to get into the groove again. I would have thought KK would get the nod at wildcard, but Janusz Kolodziej certainly didn't disappoint, unlike AJ who was well off what we've come to expect. Great meeting and a great ad for Speedway. Go CRUMPY!!
  12. Half yer luck, mate: I'm having one right now for ya!
  13. I'll be honest: compared to me most people aren't exactly large! Saw him riding in the Juniors up at Mildura this year and he ain't too big! He's got the typical Aussie characteristics of a rubber ball, but - got knocked off and run over but bounced back up again!
  14. Off to the Texas Steakhouse again? Hope the beer's cold and the waitresses are HOT!!!! Fingers Crossed for next year for Cardiff & SWC but if the IMG plan for GPs in Oz & NZ comes off I may have to rob a bank - ho hum, now where did I leave that souvenir of Gillman Balaclava? Must remember to put it on the right way round this time!!
  15. He's only a little bloke but he's a 100% trier; best of luck for him.
  16. Staying in Wroclaw again? Hopefully the Bus Driver knows the way!!
  17. Have a Lech or two for me, Cuz!! (Or three, or four.......................) Oh, and don't forget to wave your Placard - "Suck on this, Dave!"
  18. Onya Mike!! (Portsmouth FFS!!) I've just ripped the placcy off my guide and you're right - far-*******-out! Replay on Sunday Arvo at 1600hrs, and it doesn't clash with anything vital, like NASCAR or NHRA or Pro Bull Riding or Lingerie Football League or Cricket or Super 14 or the Mighty RICHMOND TIGERS in the AFL. Phew! Now all we have to do is keep whingeing to Austar/Foxtel and in another few years we'll have the league matches again - just like when we had C7. (I'm sure we'll be able to get whingeing lessons from someone on the BSF.) Popping up to Newcastle at Easter for the Trikes? If so, I'll see you there.
  19. I was just taking out some rubbish to pop in the bin not ten minutes ago, wearing my 4 Aussie World Champs shirt; young - 30ish - feller with his toddler walking past the gate, so I said 'G'day" and he replied "That bloke on your T-shirt, that's my Grandad!" Turns out he's Lionel van Praag's grandson! That's the man who won the inaugural World Speedway Championship at Wembley on 10th September 1936 - he remembers meeting all the ol' Aussie heroes as a kid, - we've just finished yacking as his lad was a bit tired; he was born on Lionel's birthday. Anyhow, he's down the street at No 26 so I'll hafta drop round and yarn on, see if he's got anything I can post - small world, eh?
  20. One of the Consortia in the running isn't from a capital city, and they have a very good proposal on the table; another proposal could see me move home for a month with a Festival-type series of events; since when did a GP have to be in a national or even provincial capital anyhow? Sweden gets away with one that's almost as remote as Mt Gambier!
  21. Slightly to the south of the middle of nowhere in fact, Humphrey. There is an airport about 15 ks outside town but whether it'd handle anything bigger than a Dakota is a moot point; a pleasant flight from Adelaide. It is a lovely track, tho, about 8 ks east, no public transport apart from taxis. Mildura Airport has now got its own baggage carousel - beats having to unload the cart yourself. Three Consortia in the running with FIM for an Australasian GP in March 2011; two in Oz, one in UnZud.
