  1. Go HORNETS!! Will there be any updates for this?
  2. I would have thought Antonio Lindback would be a better value Wild Card than THJ.
  3. Just to add to this; it does seem that the demise of Mildenhall and the availability of a couple of high-quality riders on the market has contributed to both Tim and Danny Halsey losing their spots through no fault of their own. Newport's management do seem to have been caught between a rock and a hard place; maybe they over-reacted to Tim's original message declaring himself unfit but they obviously had to move quickly to secure a replacement with the business end of the season almost upon us. That said, this thread has given another opportunity for those BSF members who only seem to see bad in everything the Malletts have done to slag them off, conveniently forgetting that without them there would be yet another empty stadium growing cobwebs (I nearly said 'gathering dust'!). Tim and Danny both impress as young riders who just want to ride, and I sincerely hope they both get back on track again sooner rather than later. If sponsorship could be found I'm sure they'd benefit from a trip DownUnder with the Darren & Sharon Boocock Scholarship. More to the point, maybe its time for some of the older riders in the NL to move aside and give these youngsters another shot?
  4. Trying to get my head around this one. Newport are told by Tim via text message that he's gonna be out of action for a few weeks. Rather than rely on R/R to cover his absence, and being unable to read peoples' minds, Newport sign a short-term replacement, Luke Priest. Tim changes his mind, but Newport have already committed to Luke. Where does this mean that Newport aren't in touch with what's going down? Tim can't be expected to have it both ways, can he? I hope to see Tim back for the Hornets, but he's going a strange way about it. Maybe he's been poorly advised, who knows?, but I can't see this reflecting badly on the club, who seem to have done what anyone put in their situation would do. As has also been stated Mark Jones will be heading home shortly, and presumably Tim will be welcome back then. Maybe Tim would have been better advised to meet with management in person rather than Text them, then this whole mess may never have arisen.
  5. Caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarlton! We'll slaughter 'em. (Pig's Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarse!) Yep, we're back to being second class citizens again this week, ho hum, at least its on within 24hrs! Here's hoping those cocky Aussies don't upset the whingers too much, eh? Are you coming to the Solos in January?
  6. No worries Tomcat, not my fault if you're a know-nothing, although I fail to see how you managed to work in that pathetic piece of schoolboy abuse from what I wrote; now how about talking about the GP?
  7. There's been a few rumours running round that Kurri Kurri wasn't up to scratch for a big meeting like OzChamps but that's all been put to rest now for sure. Word from the track is "It's all happening, BFD! Club President Peter Campton's driving a Phil Lovett D6 Dozer, James Sweetman (Richard's older brother) is in his 20 Ton Excavator and Tony Wild with his 15 Ton Excavator are all moving another couple of thousand tonnes of dirt; there is a few more thousand tonnes to arrive before James brings out his trusty grader to make the spectator mound look like your front grass." (Edit: God I hope not!! Currently in the middle of the usual Dry Season argument with the landlord - "Brown!! That's the natural colour of Grass!! If I water it, I've gotta MOW the flamin' stuff!") "There are 10 brand new lighting poles at the track, the Lighting Engineer is almost finished his plan, Town Water and Power are in planning now." This facility will be as good as any other in the country; now if they could only move it closer to Darwin!! For those of you who haven't heard of Kurri Kurri - here's their website. See you there.
  8. OK, now we've heard from the Seven Foolish Virgin subscribers, let's get ready to welcome back the travelling GP Circus for the second half of the season. Great to see Emil back on track and here's hoping that Jason's arm op has been successful. Looking forward to the Thrilla in Malilla and hoping that Jason, Chris Holder & Kenneth can make a decent inroad into the Polish Pair's points score. What's the odds on anyone going down to the Woods today for a (Teddy) Bjerre's Picnic?
  9. Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway, or to make it easier TPCR was taken over in the off-season by a consortium including 10-time Australian Sprintcar Champ Gary Rush, who dates back to the good ol' 'Mixed Meetings' days, when we had a night of two, three and four wheel racing. He's always been a fan of the Bikes and guaranteed that if the Bikes wanted to race there he'd prepare a track for them. A few months back the Consortium appointed David Tapp as General Manager, and as many of you would know in the past two decades there's no-one in Australian Speedway who's done as much to promote the Solos on a National scale as Tappy. He's helped get access to Fox Sports (Cable) and pretty well drove the establishment of the current Australian Solo Championships Series, which this year showcases 5 venues over two-and-a-half weeks. In addition to the Solos this weekend coming sees the venue being used to host a short-track Dirt Bike Racing Spectacular, which will encourage a new code to align itself under the Speedway umbrella, and quite possibly encourage a few of the Chook-chasing riders to cross-over into the REAL Racing ranks! The Solos round in January promises to be another night to remember for Speedway fans, with Sidecars, Speedcars and a Demolition Derby on offer!! To any of our Kiwi fans you couldn't go past a week in Oz to take in TPCR and Kurri Kurri, while all you Europeans could do a lot worse than Come On Down for January.
  10. Kurri Kurri has been confirmed as the second round venue; January 15th 2011. This may be an afternoon/twilight meeting as the club are still to install lighting, although I understand this along with improved Spectator facilities is all in the pipeline. Kurri Kurri is in the Hunter district of NSW; if you haven't been there its accessible via Maitland, which is a 2 and 1/2 hour train ride from Sydney. Graeme Boyd will be promoting this one & also a meeting in December 2010; the Johnnie Hoskins Plate on December 11th. If anyone can give us a good show its Graeme, who'll still be promoting at Newcastle Showground, with a big do scheduled there for Wednesday March 23rd to coincide with the Ulysses (MC) Club's annual rally.
  11. Lest we forget - Jim Airey was a member of Team GB when they won the WTC in 1971. Why are people whingeing about SKY's coverage on here - why not complain directly where it will do more good. I saw on the EL broadcast last night they were having a replay of SWC on Wednesday Pomgolian time - can't you lot wait that long? It's only been on live again this year Down Under, before that we had to wait three weeks for a highlights show - can't you mob be grateful for what you've got instead of whingeing all the time?
  12. Haven't seen Tom ride for a few years, at least since Spud won the under-16s in 2004 but I saw his name in a results release from Kurri Kurri recently; good to see him still keeping on in the sport.
  13. G'day Sarah, hope you're well? Just to expand on the History lesson, I believe that the Principality of Wales was first gobbled up by economic migrants/foreigners in 1301, under Edward I. When BigFatHenry's dad, Hal VII, a Welsh groom, grade A chancer and the founder of the Tudor Dynasty, flogged Richard the Turd (or Dick the Sh!t) at Bosworth in 1485 it restored the Welsh Monarchy, which ruled the southern bit of GB until the Scots took over in 1603, with the ensuing disastrous introduction of a Constitutional Monarchy as the Stuarts couldn't organise a Root in a Brothel. Peed meself at the mental image of Mrs Battenburg-Windsor (weren't her family Migrants?) with a whippet & pint of Stones - all she'd need then is her hair in curlers and a fag hanging out of her gob to audition for Coronation St! As for these moronic Little Englanders; its an open forum and has its good & bad points. One of the downsides is the juvenile standard of debate on some issues, (check out the SWC threads!) but it does serve to give us poor benighted Colonials the opportunity to have a giggle or two at the expense of the numpty one-eyed brigade.
  14. News from Vojens: its stopped raining; the Travelplus tourists are on their way home and the beer costs a flamin' fortune!! Ta for that link, Britpete; I'll give it a go if I'm still awake (Mighty Richmond TIGERS had a great come-from-behind win over the Adelaide Crows this arvo & I'm maggotted!!)
  15. Anybody got a link for tonight's re-run? Don't think AUSTAR will get their poop in a pile unless the Cricket finishes early!
  16. Don't think I've ever seen Leigh so pissed off as last year at Leszno over Ryan's actions. I've always been a huge Ryan Sullivan fan, but IMO he did the wrong thing, the Aussie camp was spitting chips! As far as Darcy goes, he's not much younger than Tai was when he got his first crack at the big time. Darcy last year with his busted peg was a study in misery at SWC, but he'll go well, just like Tai (if not better!).
  17. If you were at Leszno last year you'd know why Ryan wasn't considered. Commitment was required and Darcy's got that in spades.
  18. So who did we miss at Leszno, Henry? Who was the best available but not picked at Vojens? Please enlighten us.
  19. Apologies for editing your excellent posting, Dave. It beggars belief that clubs such as Newport, operating on a shoestring, can afford an airfence but clubs like KL can't. IMO a club can't afford NOT to.
  20. No excuses from Down Here; we just couldn't come to grips with the track and paid the price. Not sure how many of our mob have ridden Vojens before; I know it was Darcy's first look at the place, but they're professionals so should have been able to adjust. That said it was a great learning experience for a young team, Rooboy certainly answered his critics in the best way possible; and as Leigh Adams said last night they have to learn to rely on themselves and not expect a Crumpy or Mr Smooth to fall from the clouds and save 'em. Mind you, wouldn't Todd Wiltshire have loved the track last night. Hoping for a better spectacle on Saturday with a decent crowd, I might have to dig out my souvenir of Cardiff Union Flag and barrack for Tai!.
  21. Couldn't agree more - now I'm popping down the Bottle-Oh for a carton of flamin' Carlsberg to help set the mood. In order to ensure I'll capture that "Really There" feeling I'm also rigging up a sprinkler over me head just in case it rains, and I'm pinning a photo of Nicki P. to the dart board for ol' times' sake. BTW, if Carlsberg did Speedway Racecards, I reckon they'd look just like yours!!
