  1. Youngy yer a legend, thanxx heaps. (Now hurry up & get that other link on!!) Well Done Crumpy!! PS Just watched it again - geez Gollob tried his heart out - great race, great result!!
  2. Sorted!! I'll be somewhere in the middle tier, won't release the exact details for fear of Anti-Aussie terrorist attacks. Thanxx to Jacques & Zonkers for their assistance; to show my undying gratitude I'll let youse buy me a beer.
  3. That's narrowed it down to about 1 in 10,000,000 or so. Now if you'd said he was drivin' a white ute that'd be gettin' closer - about 1 in 5,000,000!!
  4. Quick query - which area costs what at Cardiff? I'm tryin' ta make head or tail of the site but stuffed if I know what costs what. PS I'm still googlin' furiously but any hints would be greatly appreesh.
  5. I'm there for the Ippo match in July, Jacques; I'll see you in the bar!! (PS. Its your shout!!)
  6. I'm staying at The Cocked Hat in Binley Woods when I'm over - looks like staggering distance!!
  7. Doesn't the British Champ get a wild card? Oh, and does the British Champ have to be English?
  8. Didn't the POW used ta be a picture theatre that showed slightly , er, how shall we say - BLUE MOVIES!!!!! around forty years ago, just round the corner from the station just past a roast chook establishment? I'm sure I've bin there before.
  9. Courtesy of Gavin Elmes: Queensland and New South Wales finished on 41 points each in what was regarded as the hardest fought solo teams match seen at Labrador. The racing was ferocious and many crashes highlighted a contest which was close throughout, with each side taking its turn in the lead. The scores were level with one heat to go and Scott Smith's narrow win over Taylor Poole and Sam Masters in the last race kept the result at a tie. Poole made a dash to the flag, which didn't quite pip Smith at the post. The first of many frightening crashes occurred before a lap of the match had been completed. Poole shot away to pass Smith in Heat 1, but came through pits bend too fast and had to lay down, with both rider and machine shooting into the fence with force. Poole bounced up and went on to top score for his side. After breaking a chain while leading the last lap of his first outing, Michael Penfold careered into the pits fence in avoiding leader Steven Reid, who fell in front of him. Penfold received ambulance attention, but was able to limp back to the pits and took no further part. Heat 9 produced just one finisher. Smith had engine failure while leading. Alex Davies took over the lead only to break a chain, and Ricky Wallace fell. Damien Koppe went on to a lonely finish. Three heats later, Koppe again was the only finisher after hitting the fence, falling and remounting. Wallace and Clinton Dennis had fallen by the wayside and Daniel Begley managed to ride his bike over the back straight fence! We then had two consecutive races with just two finishers. In the first of these, Davies fell, then leader Smith fell and was hit by Masters who also came down. Reid won the rerun from Masters. Then came an horrific looking crash as race leader Koppe went wide on pits bend, taking the NSW pair Begley and Tim Heffernan into the fence as he fell. Begley, who had been most impressive and the NSW top scorer at that stage, suffered a dislocated shoulder. Begley and Poole were the outstanding performers of the match, with Dennis putting up a praiseworthy effort for his first time on the track and his first "proper" meeting at senior level. Davies, after winning his first race, was beset with engine problems and did not finish in his remaining three races. Scores: Qld 41: Damien Koppe 10, Scott Smith 9, Clinton Dennis 9, Ashley Cathcart 7, Steven Reid 5, Harley Horwood 1, Sam Taylor did not ride - rider replacement used. NSW 41: Taylor Poole 11, Daniel Begley 10, Tim Heffernan 8, Sam Masters 7, Alex Davies 3, Ricky Wallace 2, Michael Penfold 0.
  10. I'm looking forward to meeting the medium-sized Yin and possibly pouring a bucket of Brains into him. Say it isn't so!! Erm, which row did you say you were in? Well Golly Gosh, and there was me lookin' to brew up a big batch of bickies to see me through the "Trip", as it were. Now where did I put my Cryovac? PS I've just dicovered that the POW is a mere 2 minute stagger, lurch, stumble & crawl from the Walkabout - what an amazing stroke of good fortune!!
  11. Sounds like a challenge; can I find a certain pub I haven't been to in nearly 40 years - they've probably moved it!! Does it have decent (i.e. Australian) beer like the Walkabout, or will Paulco & Pinstripe have drunk it all before I get there?
  12. Ahem!! Its costing me a tad more than a hundred Maggies to get there and taking a wee bit longer as well but I wouldn't miss it for quids, but then Scotsmen are renowned the world over for being what's the word - frugal with their resources, or tighter than a duck's ar$e as we say Down Here. You'll Keep! As a bona-fide card-carrying member of GOFU, (that's the Geriatric Ol' Farts Union I'll have youse know,) I have just this to say to youse impertinent young snotty-nosed wet-behind-the-ears whipper-snypers - GOFU! I shall be at the Cardiff Walkabout Bar on the Friday Night, after 36 hours of non-stop trans-planetary travelling; I may be a bit shall we say cranky after that (cranked to the eyeballs more than likely) but if youse'd like to apologise personally in a more liquid manner youse're more than welcome. Youse can't miss me, I'm easier to walk round than walk over.
  13. Hanging on dates for a qualifier at the mo. before I take the plunge on my descent to Croweater Country via Oz's answer to Ryanair, Jetstar. Good way to spend my Rudd Bonus, its either that or a Tatt!! The 2009 Toxic Waste - oooooops, sorry, I mean Mango Chutney is a few months away yet, most of the 2008 Vintage has escaped or eaten its way out of the jars, oh, and I swapped a couple of litres for a 44 gallon drum of Diesel.
  14. Ta for that mate, I stand corrected. BTW have you seen Darcy Ward yet? Or Arthur Sissis? We've got a few good 'uns Down Here!!
  15. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought he only beat Holder when they clashed 'cos he drew Red and Chris was in the Yellow, and that was the only gate he made all night?
  16. Great to hear he's still kicking on - a real goer.
  17. I think that after the success of providing a container for bikes last year the organisers are hoping for more involvement by our top UK-based stars which may well preclude a qualifying round. I can't see Jason, Leigh & Flyin' Ryan taking part but it would be good to see the likes of Shane Parker, Wato, Lemo, Cam, Johnno, Davy Watt and Kevin Doolan again along with Troy, Trav, Rooboy, Ty, Aaron, Darcy, Kozza, the Sedglings & the Holders etc. Doesn't leave much room for the up-and-comers so there may have to be a separate comp for them perhaps? Certainly given the time of year it may be difficult to factor in a qualifier, which would be a shame as I thoroughly enjoyed last years round at Gosford, and also improved my estimation of that track at the same time. Any qualifier would have to be at Gillman, the best track in Oz by far. As a committed public transport fan I would have preferred a couple of days space between Gilly and Milly as well, now it looks like I'll hafta run flat out to get to Sunraysia, then meander over five days to Newcastle!! May be some sprintcars on midweek somewhere.
  18. Will you be in attendance this year, Nev? The Usual Suspects missed yer smilin' face!!
