  1. Hi there I am trying to find out about 2 home Plymouth meetings held (?) on 28 April & 5 May 1961. The Speedway Star fixtures states that these were open meetings but the match reports never reported in the Star (were they possibly rained off ?). Can anybody confirm what these meetings were and whether they were raced. Thanks Steve
  2. Hi there. There was no run off for the bonus point ! Although the on track results ended 52-44 in favour of the respective home team, Middlesbrough's home win was changed to a 44-42 away win to the Monarchs by the SCB. It was deemed that Shane Parker's 10 points were deducted from the Bears score as he was at the time serving a ban. The scoreline was changed before the Bears visit to Powderhall hence the reason for tno run off as the final aggregate score ended in a 96-86 win to the Monarchs. Regards Steve
  3. Thank you both for your help - a slip of my typing fingers occurred regarding the date! Just the info I needed. Regards Steve
  4. Hi there As a continuing part of my research into the 1974 season I am trying to establish the correct individual scores for Bengt Jansson and Kenneth Selmonsson of Sweden. The Speedway Star reports that Jansson and Selmonsson scored 5 and 1 points respectively. Yet the heat results published advises that Jansson and Selmonsson scored 6 and 0 points. Speedway Mail also reports the latter scores but did not publish the heat results in the 1974 season to clarify. Does anybody have a completed programme from the actual meeting to confirm the correct points scored for Jansson & Selmonsson ? Thanks for reading. Steve
  5. Thanks Bob exactly what I was after. Steve
  6. Hi Bob. Thank you for your assistance. - what I am after is the heat results from this meeting as they do appear to be incorrect as published in the Speedway Star. However you may be able to help regarding the home match v Bradford raced on 5 April 1974. What I require is the result of Heat 8 and the winning time together with the christian name of K.Ramsley who rode (presumably) as a late "fill in" in the Bradford side. Hope you can help. Thanks Steve

There seem to be a number of queries regarding the heat details and scorers published in both the Speedway Star and Speedway Mail. Can anybody confirm the correct heat results? Thanks Steve

  12. Hi there As part of my research into the 1974 Season, I trying to confirm the correct scores for West Germany's Gerhard Uhlenbrock & Jurgen Herlert. According to the Speedway Star Uhlenbrock scores 7 and Herlert 1 point, however the heat results tally up as Uhlenbrock scoring 8 points.(Possibly a non finisher in heat 8, 11 or 18 ?) Does anybody a completed programme to confirm the correct scores and where the error in the heat details arises. I have also checked the Speedway Mail and they don't even mention West Germany's Score in the report ! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for reading. Steve
  13. Note: error in your records !

It is Tom Owen (Barrow) riding in the 1974 Riders championship not Taffy Owen !

    Regards

  15. Phil It looks like one programme is completed from the Speedway Star and the other from the meeting itself. I know that the points scores of 3 and 1 for the late Vic Harding and John Robson respectively are correct and therefore it looks like heat 4 is the incorrect result published in the Speedway Star. I have since bought a programme which confirms this to be case so it looks like my query has been answered. Thanks for your assistance. Steve
  16. Thanks Bob for your reply, this confirms that the heat results published in the Speedway Star are incorrect. Does anybody have a completed programme from this meeting ? Cheers Steve
  17. Hi there. As part of my research into the 1974 Season, I am trying to obtain the heat correct placings for the Sunderland riders Vic Harding & John Robson. The heat results published in the Speedway Star show both Vic Harding & John Robson scoring 2 Points whilst the team points scorers indicate Vic Harding scores 3 & John Robson 1 point. Does anybody have a completed programme from this meeting to confirm the correct heat placings for both these riders ? Thanks for reading. Kind regards Steve
  18. Check out the Speedway Researcher site. www.speedwayresearcher.org.uk/main3.html The heat results, etc for all these meetings are posted in the respective seasons files under the British League 1965-1994 files which I have compilied. New updated season files will be posted on the site when it is up and running again. Steve

  21. Hi there. As part of my research into the 1974 season I am trying to confirm the correct heat placings for the Gunners Duncan Meredith & Colin Goad in this meeting raced on 7 April 1974 at Eastbourne. Both the Speedway Star & Speedway Mail states that Duncan Meredith & Colin Goad scored 7 and 5 points respectively, yet the heat details published in the Speedway Star advise both riders scored 6 points. Does anybody have a completed programme from this meeting to confirm the correct placings ? Thanks for reading. Steve
  22. Thanks for the reply. Yes it is possible that Taffy Owen could have ridden in this meeting, but my gut feeling suggests that Tom Owen is the correct option due to amount of travel expenses incurred for the journey from Canterbury to Rye House rather than Taffy's journey from the North West of England. Can anybody confirm whether its Tom or Taffy ? Thanks
  23. Hi there. As part of my research into the 1972 Season, i am trying to find out which T.Owen rode in the Gerry Hussey Memorial trophy rode at Rye House on Sunday 23 July 1972. This meeting was abandoned after heat 7 due to rain, the Speedway Star did not advise which T.Owen rode in this meeting. I have a partially completed programme which advises that T.Owen was a late entry into the field. It is possible that Tom Owen was a late replacement having rode at Canterbury the previous night with Barrow. Is there anybody out there able to confirm whether this is Tom Owen ? Thanks for reading.
