  15. Good luck in your appeal. Like yourself I lost my local team due to lack of support (Ellesmere Port) in the mid 1980's and dream of the day that racing will return. It can happen as it has been proved at Workington. Unfortunately with Thornton Road under threat by the auctioneer's hammer and redevelopment it looks like a new venue will need to be sought before it can happen, so at least for Sunderland there is a stadium ready made for Speedway. But we can both hold on to that dream.
  16. If you need the heat results they will be on the Speedway Researcher web site.
  17. Thanks Midland Red for the information. Exactly what I wanted !
  18. Thanks Midland red for the information. Do you know who were the non finishers in this heat - or at least was programmed to ride in this heat ? Cheers
  19. To finish off my review of the 1965 season, I require the heat result from the Coventry V Long Eaton British league match which was abandoned after heat 1 with Coventry leading 3-2. Does anybody have the heat result and race time from the programme as this these details were never published in the Speedway Star. Thanks for reading.
  20. Interview with chief of Leszno trackstuff. He said he will do the track the way Ole Olsen wants him to do it. Personally he would love to do it semi-grippy but he knows it must be riders safety firstly. I'm pretty sure Olsen will tell him to prepare it as slick as hell to suit Danes! Boring gate and go I'm afraid. After watching proper racing on a non-prepared Olsen track on Monday it's back to normal Grand Prix racing ie Boring ! Well that's saved my partner and me over £2,000 to watch the gating competion to the first bend. At least's it cheaper watching it on Sky than flying to Poland to watch it. FN: Well done to Peterborough for producing a decent track and cracking meeting
  21. Hurray -I got mine too today ! Makes a change from sweating on receiving them before beginning my Mid june holiday finishing off with the British Gp.
  22. Some more to add Barrow 1 - Bobby Campbell Barrow 2 - Geoff Lyon Berwick 1 - Geoff Davies Ellesmere Port 1 - Geoff Jones Oxford 4 - Colin Clarke ? Teeside 1- Mick Moore Teesside 4- John Spilsbury
  23. Yes, Ellesmere Port stadium is still there, although the speedway track has been replaced by a greyhound track which is also used for Afgan dog exercise once a month ! Unfortunately the pits area on the third bend was demolished early last year but the two stands still remain on the home and back straights. There are rumours in the local press that the council are considering selling the land to make a new housing development - looks like Thornton Road Stadium could soon disappear once the economy improves.
  24. Hi there. I an effort to keep my database of heat details up to date from 1965 to present, does anybody have the heat results/times of Oxford's Midland Riders Qualifying round raced on Sunday 18 May 1969? This was not reported on in the Speedway Star of the time but advised that the meeting details would be reported the following week's Speedway Star but wasn't. Can anybody help with the details please ? Thanks Please E-Mail
  25. Hi there. I urgently require the heat results for the following Nelson 1967 meetings. The details were never published in the Speedway Star, I will be grateful if anybody could let me any details or even scan me a copy of the racecard at my e-mail address The meetings I require are : Olympiad Trophy 5/8/67 Nelson V Wolverhampton "B" 12/8/67 Nelson V Glasgow "B" 2/9/67 Fingers crossed !
