  1. A nice interesting thread, however i had presumed the author had done what i used too do years ago and provided weighting for the three leagues. Most sport ratings do so be it FIFA, ELO etc. The flaw is clearly illustrated in that if a rider only does the British Elite League and averages 8.00, i can assure you he won't average 8.00 in the other leagues and would have a lower figure than the blanket average used above. You don't necessarily have to rely on a personal judgement of the three leagues either. You can simply number crunch a fair sized sample and average out the differences etc. One little side shot to come come out this could be if a rider is doing very well in the GP's and performing less than his rivals in the leagues. Then we can have a 'selfish rider of the year' category lol. If you think about it, using ONLY the league averages in reality produces a ranking of the best LEAGUE riders. The GP series produces the best GP rider rankings. To get a best rider in the World ranking you'd either accept the GP results or combine GP and League results.
  2. The weekly SwedishLeague thread has not been started yet and in view of recent events on here i don't want to tread on anyone's toes by drumming one up one myself lol. So i'll put the tv racecard notice here for now. I think most fans have it bookmarked by now anyway and it's been available since last night. 5. Yeah hopefully, after the tiff out of the blue we can all get back to simply giving notice of when racecards are being made available be they the current official provisional line-ups, or the finalized (and then late change through injury etc on the day lol) ones. I've made the templates and was about to put online the Event One card for those who would like to look at the heat line-ups in advance - bearing in mind the teams can be changed very late indeed.. However, i hear already there is a doubt over one of the Polish riders being able to take part. I'll hold back a day to see what transpires after the Polish practice session today. As mentioned it's unusual for teams to be announced so far in advance for a meeting, however, they are plastered over the official site and elsewhere for a few days now. Presumably because it's such a major event. So for those who just want a scan of what's what or even a preview peek at the racecards (it's a changed version for me this year due to requests) i'll likely put a provisional one out tomorrow.
  6. Antonio Lindback is out of the team according to reports coming from Sweden this morning. Team reckoned to be Andreas Jonsson, Freddie Lindgren, Thomas H Jonasson and Peter Ljung. Google Translates says in it's leader on Eurosport.com (not UK version) Lindbäck thrown out of World Cup team: "Massa rubbish has happened" Antonio Lindbäck poked out of the Swedish team in the speedway. Andreas Jonsson, Fredrik Lindgren, Tomas H Jonasson and Peter Ljung running VM instead. "He has had problems," said Swedish coach Bo Wire Fire on petningen.
  7. Nooooooo! not until i made the ones for the 2016, 2017 and 2018 GP's. The simple and valid reasons for doing so were given in the thread you came from. The World Cup specific meeting racecard thread was put in place because the teams have been named in advance. Some fans will produce racecards with those provisional teams (some already have done so) for the events. Please try and remember that Danish Webmaster did state that he had produced the FIRST racecard. Can i ask why you are not making a post admonishing him for that heinous crime of starting a racecard for an event a week away lol. Regards coming to the forum for interesting debate, your attempt at such was......
  8. R&R think again about that. There's quite a few racecards around now and four meetings. Plus, several of us would be updating the racecards and notifying that new ones are available in the event of injuries, riding order reshuffles etc. Having specific threads for major meetings is how it's always been and worked quick and well be it for racecards or any other specific aspect. Anyway, there's already signs of off-topic cliques starting to gather, not yourself or DW lol, (an old 'tracker' just appeared on another thread) and i've made clear i'll carry on the quick access same format thread for racecards. If others want to start multiple thread it's truly absoultely fine. I've given the reasons for me continuing as i have done and won't be changing. Ok i hungry off for my dinner.
  9. Are you for real??? AGAIN you following me around looking for something to criticize. I suggest you look AGAIN at the threads you've just come from and where the explanation was given as to why the threads are started ahead of the meeting. I suggest you post AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN in all the hundreds of threads that are started days ahead of all the league meetings etc, in fact pretty much any thread on the forum regarding a meeting. Anyway going on past history.....all i can say is whatever!, you go alert and gather the rest of your clique, i'm off for my dinner and leave you with the fitting statement i've not had to use for a while; Please take note i'm not getting engaged in 'off-topic attacking the poster and not the post' conversations. There is way too much of it across the forums. It's a very inconsiderate waste of the forum owner's bandwidth, which presumably is not free, to use the forums for abuse, insults or creating and carrying out personal vendetta's and off-topic feuding when it's purpose of being a forum is for speedway discussion.
  10. Honest to God's truth Iris, and going back a couple of years or so, it's because we used to get several threads asking if racecards would be available for this event and that event etc. I still get emails, mainly from overseas now, on the website asking if i will be covering meetings and tournaments. Also, there was a year when i was the only one producing a card for the World Cup and the next season there were posts asking if i'd do another one for that current competition. Additionally, like i say if Danish Webmaster or anyone else wishes to instigate their own racecard specific threads then absolutely fine. I certainly think most fans who use racecards have the source bookmarked anyway. The threads are possibly more likely to attract casual or newcomers to the sport/competition/racecards than those who print-out regularly. Certainly the number of racecards that fly of the servers for the SGP's far exceed the numbers that are shown to visit the actual threads on the forum. Apology for what? The thread was asking if any racecards would be available during the whole of the World Cup. As i mentioned in my reply above to DW; "A new topic??? It's the meeting specific one. It saves people from having to plough through a thread containing general discussion on the whole of the tournament. It enables fans to instantly grab a racecard of their choice from the selection contained within." Someone started off an Elite League thread for the 2012 season months ago, should all the hundreds of individual match discussions have been placed in that?
  11. MiniMax Racecard 2012 World Cup EVENT TWO, King's Lynn, England. (Monday, 9th, July, 2012) Once available later in the week you can directly download from the following page. I may well make a 'provisional' card available once Sunday's Polish League matches are out of the way and/or again after Tuesday's Swedish Matches. With only four man teams just a couple of injuries would mess up a racecard to unacceptable or poorly usable levels. I will post in this thread when the racecards are uploaded including any provisional ones should i make them. http://speedway.manc.../racecards.html As in previous years if there are late, or indeed very late changes, i will update them right up to just before the meeting. I've re-introduced the colour coded gate draw format due to a lot of email requests on the website. No messing about trying to see small characters and remembering them. Just an instant glance at the card matches up with how you see them line-up on the TV screen, or indeed if a spectator at the track from behind the fence. The various other distinctive formatting features of MiniMax racecards will be included. Hopefully, as with the GP's, there will be various racecards made available from the usual producers to suit the varied tastes of fans.
  12. "So i can be the first"!!!! "Oh My Goodness!!! How absolutely childish. A new topic??? It's the meeting specific one. It saves people from having to plough through a thread containing general discussion on the whole of the tournament. It enables fans to instantly grab a racecard of their choice from the selection contained within. As in previous years with the World Cup and Speedway Grand Prix a few days ahead i start a thread letting fans know the MiniMax racecards will be available and then when they are available. As with the GP's other fans who produce racecards have added theirs to the list, quite sensible and streamlined i guess and everyone was (apparently seemingly now with one exception, namely, yourself.) absolutely fine with that. The fact that i kept the titling of the thread uniform over the years and it consisted merely of racecard sources enabled everyone a single click on the thread to access their card. More times than not it only consists of the one page. No back ploughing through pages and pages of a general World Cup thread to find the racecard of their choice. So in answer to your question that is what is wrong with the thread you refer to. I'm very surprised you've suddenly taken umbrage and wish to scatter the racecards over several threads. In the same way in our International section we all know that Ghostwalker institgates a weekly Swedish League thread, so we just quickly glance for the uniform title we've been accustomed to and penned by the usual author, so do a lot of fans keep an eye out for the racecard thread. Oh well if you wish to childishly be the 'FIRST' to start up racecard threads do so, it's to your embarrassment. I'll certainly be carrying on regardless with the SGP and SWC racecard threads as i have done over the years and with the same titling. As it should be, all is cool with me if others drop theirs in to make a list, also all cool if everyone decides to make their own thread, absolutely fine. Seeing the provisional teams have been announced for the first two meetings i'm just off to start a second thread for the Event Two, so please look away if it's a problem!
  13. MiniMax Racecard 2012 World Cup EVENT ONE, Bydgoszcz, Poland. (Saturday, 7th, July, 2012) Once available later in the week you can directly download from the following page. http://speedway.manc.../racecards.html As in previous years if there are late, or indeed very late changes, i will update them right up to just before the meeting.
  14. As ever the free MiniMax Racecards will be available for all the meetings. I would guess that like the GP's there will be many different types to fit the varied tastes of fans avaialble from the usual producers. I'm aiming to make the templates for the new format on Sunday (or Monday if tonight's night out is as good as i'm hoping lol). Originally i was considering making them available with the pre-announced teams today, but presuming there is racing in Poland tomorrow? (not checked on that) there may be injuries changing the line-ups, also as Danish Webmaster pointed out there can be a reshuffle of riding order after the practice sessions. It would only take two changes to make filling in a racecard a right old mess. I'll certainly kick-off a thread for each individual World Cup meeting a few days before each and like the GP's i'm sure there will be lots to choose from. MiniMax Racecards for the World Cup and SGP etc available free http://speedway.manc.../racecards.html
  15. I'm sure fans attending the final (surely some would???) wouldn't be able to stay mute and suppress an encouraging cheer. Hee, Hee, Chuckle, Chuckle. I've done the calculations and there is a problem in doing so. Based on the value attached to it by fans i've worked out the competition's worth. Unfortunately, the smallest coin i have in my pocket right now is a whole pound coin. I'd give that on the understanding that it's a multi-year sponsorship, however, one can't be sure the competition will be in place next year.
  16. Have you ever known a professional or even amateur sport not to give a name to a competition? Do you not think it looks very poor for the sport to issue a press release detailing a competition and not have a name for it! Guess i'm in the minority but i thought it was a good idea as it maintains some form of competitive interest for all teams. Certainly the actual race for the play-offs will do that for many teams, and i felt this was an extra touch that in theory keeps teams racing to the end.
  17. OK months on....... questions unanswered and i'm guessing i know the popular response to the last one lol. 1. Is this competition actually going to take place only absolutely zilch on the BSPA site, particularly in their 'Premier League Table' section which only details the play-offs for the top six teams. 2. Will it have a name??? Noooooo! Noooooo! you can NOT call it the '7-12 Trophy' lol. 3. Does any speedway fan care about it? (awwww i thought it a good idea to keep interest in the end of the season for the less fortunate teams).
  18. It was covered live in detail on the 'Danish Speedway on tv thread'. Heads up for anyone not aware yet, there is an official live stream every week from the tv channel of Danish league matches (and the national individual championship). Excellent quality stream too.
  19. Regarding the Terminator Tacklers of football let's not forget the heroes who defied them. I think first of all of a skeletal, ok very skinny, George Best, he braved and rode some fearsome tackles from those who didn't like to be left looking like fools as he danced around them. A very brave player who got up again and again after some severely nasty knocks. Last race and Nicki begins another unbeaten run?
  20. Glad to see another vote for Norman Hunter and of course Ron Harris. Wasn't his brother a defender too?
  21. Thanks for that, i tracked down his Tweet address thing and was checking that in case anyone put a message for him on that.
  22. Oh Yeah Dave Mackay too. Those proper footballers all looked like hardened gangsters, not the manicured metromen or bling-laden gangstas of today.
  23. One can only presume that a third of the crowd were hypnotized into a deep sleep open to suggestions......another third went dizzy and fell over,,,,,whilst the remainder were left bug-eyed and nauseous. I sooooo hate those spiral things, don't trust them, they mess up your eyes and brain and you always fall over upon taking first step after watching one lol. Not sure why you can't say how you know but many thanks indeed for that great news. Although any bang on the head needs careful monitoring over several days. Hope he's not due to ride in any meeting the rest of this week and gets some rest. Nice to see someone mentioned Billy Bremner too, but how can nobody have mentioned Norman Hunter or Nobby Stiles. The computer age did not have first tabs on the word Hacker lol lol.
  24. Unfortunately, we weren't spared the initial awful images* but that wasn't really the TV channel at fault as they couldn't have been expected to know what would arise. Especially, when you see countless crashes even worse looking where everyone gets up and walks away unassisted. *(Was only half watching but to me i thought it was a horrible crash at first because Hancock was motionless for a fair while. Then it was as if he 'woke up' and, as people with head injuries often do, began struggling quite violently with the medics assisting him. Then it looked as he was calmed down but thrashing around a bit because of pain for a while.)
