Was thinking the same and hoping the background shots were very pre-meeting. Sky just said repeatedly it's a big crowd for a race off!!! Right now it doesn't seem anywhere near as big as the weekly Swedish League matches we see on Premier Sports. Let's hope that everywhere apart from behind the shoulders of the presenters the stands are packed out. Agree would have been good if Sweden had been seeded to this except they likely might not have qualified for the final making it look even worse for the sport if that had a low attendance? It's not just speedway these days that can suffer from the absence of a host nation participating. The last few years have seen many of football's continental championship finals matches being playing in front of extremely sparse crowds.

Was just coming along to post the same sentiments. Why on earth should speedway have their World Cup once every four years just because football does? Lots of sports (probably most i think) be it for teams or individuals have their World Championships annually. Also an excellent point made regarding the Tour de France and Wimbledon. For what it's worth the four year gap is too much for football it should be reduced to two.

Apparently practice is already over. There were no problems with the track after plenty of work being done on it last night and this morning. Denmark had five riders practising with the other teams four.

I'm continuing with the same format of the titling of the SGP and SWC racecard threads as i have done over the years. As with every league match or speedway meeting across the forums since forums and time began it simply makes it easy to spot and pick a racecard for specific meetings,. As it should be, all is cool with me if others drop theirs in to make a list, also all is cool if everyone decides to make their own threads, absolutely fine.

Ouch there's a thought. But we are supposed to be getting a true racing track here in Manchester. Don't forget the FIM in the SGP have recently ditched a good racing track with packed crowds in favour for a big city venue and sparse crowds.

I don't suppose #2 that........BBC News who gave the first SIXTEEN minutes of their news bulletin over to the coverage of the LOSING British tennis player will give even a mention should GB win this meeting. Anyway whatever they are the ones missing out on great entertainment, let's just enjoy.

Biggest betting market for the bookmakers is what heat GB will use their joker in, i think heat 3 the favourite lol. Ok must think positive i take that back. Cheers for the comments. Everything seems to be falling into place, the weather has held off, forum members have chosen their desired racecards! so we just need the racing to slot into the night. Didn't like hearing mention of a slick track so soon into the broadcast.

Thank you very much. Incidentally, i have now put up the provisional one (with Darcy Ward) as the visitor counter is still spinning at a fair rate of knots, but obviously for those who can it's best to wait.

If Darcy Ward doesn't ride would it likely have any effect on the attendance or not remotely so?

IMPORTANT NOTICE I've just had a quick glance at the server stats counter and notice that there have already been hundred upon hundreds of visits this morning (and yesterday post meeting). I can only presume they are for tonight's card. Please note i was not intending to put up a card up until the team announcements which are supposed to be half an hour after practice ends - scheduled to end 14:00 BST. I will make them available instantly the teams are known.

With no reserves it seems an awful risk to take. If he receives a knock on it or in the cut and thrust of an actual race it doesn't hold out it's going to be a struggle. Then again unless GB are riding out of their skin tonight i guess Australia can give a man advantage to the other three teams. Aha! i knew it started at 12 but was wondering how long it goes on for.

Looks like Darcy not making his mind up until after practice tomorrow (12:00 BST) so i'll hold back the card until then. Immediately the teams are announced i'll put it on the server as hopefully the line-ups will be forthcoming shortly after practice. For the benefit of fans one hour ahead of the UK on the European mainland, If there is a delay in the announcement i'll put a provisional card up with, as suggested elsewhere by 'Pandorum', a blank space for Darcy Ward. That will enable those who print out the cards at work etc. to do so. For those who can wait until teams are confirmed i would suggest doing so in case it's not a straight swap for Darcy Ward and they reshuffle the team riding order as well.
