  1. Thank you for all that info. The Google Translated pdf reads as; Protocol extraordinary board 2012-05-30 ( 18:00 to 20:00 ) participants SVEMO Hakan Leeman Chairman Åke Knutsson Vice Chairman Agneta Andersson Member Jörgen Hafström Member Day Hjalmarsson Member Tony Jacobsson Member Carl-Erik Sörman Member Per Westling Secretary General Stig Klemetz Chairman SSI Anna Wilhelmsson GS Coordinator agenda : Effects of serial association's decision not to meet the shareholders' agreement in SSI AB. The meeting appointed Carl -Erik Sörman to adjust the minutes , and decided to approve the minutes immediately. The agenda was approved . Subject The President has called an extraordinary board meeting on the occasion of class association decided - announced by the League Association president Borje Bellinger - not to pursue the shareholder agreement for SSI AB expressed at SSI Ltd board meeting 2012-05-23 . light SVEMO conducted in 2010 0ch 2011 a comprehensive analysis of the speedway business in Sweden where complaints are made by clubs on how SVEMO ran the speedway business. The Inquiry led to an entirely new organization . Round Brisbane Property clubs (by Series Association) and Spark Plug AB ( a company wholly owned by SVEMO ) would jointly own a company, SSI Ltd , which would replace the old organization with a Round Bane Section . SSI AB was established 1 January 2012. The intention was to increase the club's influence on the business, do the clubs involved in the decision making and, through joint action to increase the total commercial revenues to clubs and the sport. SVEMO bore all the initial costs of starting the company. new staff employed by joint decision between Serie Association and SVEMO . SVEMO Board discussed thus primarily the form of organization you will use to continue operations . Two main options were considered: A. 2. Why? what have they done or failed to do? I'm pretty sure we get better racing than we see with the UK's Elite league.
  3. See speedwaycrazy i told you that you would get tons of replies on here lol. Joking aside i do remember, likely Ghostwalker?, giving some excellent details on exactly the subject of your question. I'll have a Google around later today if the man himself fails to come up with the goods on this occasion.
  4. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't print tickets and instead give you an ink hand stamp lol.
  5. I'm surprised at mention of having to either bet or pay to see individual horse races, i never knew that was the case. I presumed it would be as with streaming football on sites such as William Hill where you deposit £5 into your account and that's it you get to see hundreds of top class football matches round the clock. Without placing a bet i've seen a wealth of football including some superb World Cup qualifying games in front of 100,000 spectators at some of the games in Mexico and South America etc. All very entertaining cut-throat stuff. Any sports betting site i've been on the "smallish box in the corner of the screen" can be enlarged by clicking on the relevant icon to do so. You can view it in it's own window and minimize or even close the page with the odds on and the stream carries on playing. I was away from the sport for well over a decade and whilst clearly betting has returned to an extent including betting on heats, wasn't there a massive scandal when betting was first introduced and corruption was proven to have taken place and therefore the gambling abandoned? I'm sure i remember when i was not following speedway, after Hyde Road closed down, headlines in a national daily referring to the sport going through tough times with the crooked betting and at the same time a rider or riders? smuggling drugs around Europe and also a rider suicide (or the Kenny Carter murder and suicide?).
  6. If you had posted this in the International section you'd likely get some knowledgeable answers from the forums Swedish correspondents. 'Ghostwalker' for one is usually well genned up on all aspects of Elitserien including financial queries.
  7. Thanks (i'll just check my pockets for small change to see if i can help out!)
  8. Got to admit i'm stuggling a little with the likelihood raised recently on these forums that BT Sport may be purchasing the rights to Swedish Speedway, however if they or anyone else decides to show the Elitserien will those responsible for Sky speedway broadcasts be aware that Tuesday would not be a good day to move around a Sky meeting to? Unless it's a Premier League one of course. EDIT: Just remembered the Swedish matches start at around 6pm UK time and they only overlapped a little on to the Sky meetings when the latter were staged on Tuesdays. Does anyone know even a ball park estimate as to how much the Sky speedway deal would need to be worth in order for 'the money would be the saviour of all the clubs'!!
  9. Apologies to those who want to see this competition become a reality but until it is assured that no rider would ride for more than one team i 'pray' daily it doesn't. It can only be very damaging to the sport to have the equivalent of Manchester United and Barcelona swapping players over two legs depending on where the tie is staged or any of the other scenarios that have been proposed. Even if only one club gets to use a rider the fact that he also rides for the opposing team (consisting of only seven riders) will look and be so bad. Also of course we have the very large difference in team strengths prevalent over most ties that's not going to provide any exciting racing. Outsiders will view a Champions league as being the best the sport has to offer however it certainly won't provide four riders battling in close quarters.
  10. Thanks for bracketing "info on the first page" in the threads title Ghostwalker it certainly helps me a lot as it was shocking the number of times i forgot lol. Plus it's great for any newcomers to the thread as we often saw fans ask for info that was on the first page and they never knew. Just hope i'm still a follower this coming season as i'm unsure i'll continue if there is no English language tv/online broadcast
  11. I instantly presumed it would be the Swedish rather than the Polish league. I would imagine the Polish league is not feasible for the exact same reasons i can never get to watch it, namely, it's meetings are staged at one of the most prime times for major tv sport - Sunday afternoon. I would guess that most sports channels are struggling to fit everything into their schedules on Saturdays and Sundays and as speedway fans we sadly all know about the red button lol. Sad to see Premier Sports go the way of Setanta and end up trying to be a 'mini Sky' with the same old, same old traditional balls sports taking over the schedule. Only reason i'm keeping it for now is they show Nascar and the occasional mixed martial arts tourney.
  12. A few comments from around the web. f1broadcasting wordpress Sky Sports have renewed their Elite League Speedway contract for five years, alongside five other contracts. This is important for speedway to thrive in the country as there was the possibility that Sky could have decided to dispose of this contract, as they did with the Speedway Grand Prix championship before last season. Viewing figures tend to be around 100,000 to 200,000, nothing spectacular but enough for Sky to keep it. There is also the BT factor in all of these contracts, Sky wanted to get these wrapped up early to prevent BT Sport snapping any up. sportspromedia.com Sport Mediastream agrees British Speedway deal. The new in-house streaming division of At The Races, Sport Mediastream, has agreed a deal to become the exclusive worldwide production and distribution partner of British Speedway. The deal has been signed with Go Speed International, the company which owns British Speedway's media rights. The agreement, however, does not include the 25 fixtures covered annually by Sky Sports in the UK from the Elite and Premier League Speedway championships. Earlier on Tuesday, Sky signed a new five-year contract to broadcast the Elite League. Sport Mediastream launched in July 2013 and has been developed specifically to cater for the betting industry. It is owned by At The Races, Britain's most popular dedicated racing channel. Terry Russell, chief Executive of Go Speed International, said: "At The Races has demonstrated it has a robust streaming platform able to deliver a high quality service. "Combined with its existing integrations and specific expertise in the betting industry, we believe they are the ideal partner to help us develop a global streaming and betting proposition for British Speedway." dailymail But signing speedway’s Elite League for five more years looks to be a spoiler aimed at BT, with even the sport’s authorities convinced Sky had lost interest in their marginalised product.
  13. ....and there's dancing in the streets Truly fantastic news. I've a good mind to complain about your post Matt, don't think i've ever been so misled and let down in all my life. I just went over to the Sky site and Googled but nowhere do i see anything to back up your claim. That's a cruel false post as i see no sign of me EGG CHASING waaaaaah! Hee hee hee. Heartily for sure. Thank you Sky and all involved in negotiating. Try not to lynch too many as i think a lot of fans were moaning about the delay in announcing the deal rather than one existing, especially after the Matt Ford false start.
  14. OMG! Noooooo! please get the 'Shoulder Angels' identification right - i'm struggling to get to Heaven as it is lol. Gustix was the first to raise mention of the evil deed of multi-voting potentially existing. Whilst on the other hand, in a rare saintly moment, i was the first to appeal for fans not to follow such a sinful path.
  15. Would you actually need to go installing proxies etc. Wouldn't taking a few seconds to release and renew with the ipconfig command do the same? Also, what about something as startingly clear if you clear your cookies/cache? Although i presume the latte rwon't work as they'll be logging IP addresses. Got to admit i do hope fans don't go attempting to make multiple votes as we don't want MCN to decide to exclude Tai due to fans skullduggery!
  16. You are forgetting the cosy agreements between the US and UK particularly the NSA and GCHQ etc. You attempt to vote twice and they'll quickly target a cruise missile attack on 'Gustix Mansion.' I'd guess that they use cookies and ip addresses etc? However, i have all three browsers that i use delete cookies upon closing a browser, so not sure how their protection copes with that and dynamic ip addresses.?
  17. Tai Woffinden has been nominated for the 2013 MCN Man of the Year. Voting only runs until the 5th February, and the winner will be presented with his award at the MCN London Motorcycle Show on 14th-16th February. Unlike many online polls there is no filling in of forms or giving email addresses etc. Just takes a second to click his name. http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/News/newsresults/General-news/2014/January/jan2914-man-of-the-year/ Who knows if enough of us vote we may get more coverage in the publication?
  18. Oh of course that's a thought that escaped my mind for a moment. For all we know there are some great letters not being printed, actually come to think of it that is very likely indeed.
  19. I agree strongly with the above and have pointed that out elsewhere before. Also the same can be applied to the Sky Sports viewing figures. I'm sure many households have had to cut back by discontinuing their subscription to various movie and sports channels. If you go back to the 70's and compare sports attendances to today there has been a drastic drop with many of them, major and minor. Whilst football crowds are now rising, especially in the lower divisions - possibly due to one hell of a lot more TV exposure of those leagues? - there was a long period after the 70's where even crowds in the top division were very poor to years gone by. When i was little lower levels of the football league had regular five-figure crowds. That all disappeared upon the arrival of the new leisure/electronic age. You can often turn on the tv and witness major athletic competitions and a host of other sports in near deserted stadiums and that despite the vast publicity the 'major' sports receive in all aspects of the media. I can assure you speedway isn't alone in the 'one man and his dog' syndrome. I'm just glad that speedway doesn't have the agreement in place that American Football has where unless around 100% of all tickets have been sold for the game then it is blacked out on local tv! Does anyone remember when Rugby League was first shown on tv, either regional or BBC 2 at something like 11pm at night, WOW! totally deserted terraces many a time and YES! honestly i did once see a man and his dog at one ground lol, Just shows you though how sports can be turned around when you look at Rugby League these days. Also going back to speedway in the 70's when mundane weekly meetings had attendances way higher than tracks can attract for their best of the season nowadays, the vast majority of the general public didn't know speedway existed. Some will disagree but i strongly ascertain that more people have caught sight of the sport and are aware of it's existence nowadays due to Sky Sports and also now with Eurosport coming on the scene. There was no weekly speedway on tv all season either domestic or international. Often we had just the one-off world final in a given year, maybe sometimes a couple more but always highlights up to a week later, NEVER any LIVE meetings. The only times that Sky Sports has had a damaging effect are twofold, firstly, when we had a season or two with the most dire processional racing in televised meetings, often due to rain. Sadly the main reason is because of the striving to get more and more powerful bikes and technical advantages making our sport become more and more like F1 where it's the machine and not the rider's skill that wins the races. The second thing that doesn't help the sport is when you get Pearson and Tatum going delirious with excitement and screaming when there clearly ain't all that much at all going on in a race, or when they make out a rider is about to overtake when it is clear from every single lap of every preceding race all night long that due to the track a rider will NOT be passing. This gives the casual viewer an instant opinion of "if that's the best the sport can offer i for one am switching channels and for sure never ever going to attend a speedway meeting". Don't want to divert this into a commentator's thread so i'll quickly balance by noting that both commentators do have the sport's best interest at heart.
  20. Ummm! you say you've found it boring for years but the last time you bought it was in 1991! How do you know whether or not they might nowadays have a page 3 beauty and 'exciting' content lol. I'll second that and have gone into details as to why on several occasions in these forums. Come on 'E I Addio' send one in to them then. Remember though to make it interesting, thought-provoking and not repeating anything from the previous weeks hee hee. To be honest i think the collation of news - even if merely press releases - from each of the tracks in one place is a strength of the magazine. How long would it take you to seek out on the web each clubs official website and also their local news media outlets in order that you don't miss something. With the Speedway Star you can simply flick through the pages and read whatever story catches your eye. I realize when it comes to news in general how greatly redundant the printed press has become in the face of the minute-by-minute updating and instantly interactive internet, however a magazine that collates news and articles on a specific subject can still hold it's own. Incidentally, how is the Speedway Star website (not online issue) for breaking news? is it like Sportowefakty where they publish and update stories all day long or does it merely serve as a vehicle for advertising the magazine with the barest token nod to news stories? I haven't purchased a printed newspaper for some 15 years due to their very latest news having been printed the evening before and therefore considerably out of date and now 'yesterday's news'. Admittedly, i also can't bear to look at any of the national newspapers because of their farcical political bias and the accompanying very damaging misinformation and disinformation (ok and blatant lies too with some of them), it all makes it a waste of time to even read them. On a comparative note whilst some on here complain about the extent to which the Speedway Star won't veer away from the official line of the BSPA etc - and clearly they frequently have a very solid stance of 'see no evil, hear no evil, report no evil' - we do get the benefit of knowing that often we are at least getting the actual facts of the matter on many occasions.
  21. To be fair Philip said that last Thursday so technically today Friday certainly still qualifies as 'next week' (as does possibly Saturday and Sunday!). However i fear we'd all be clutching at straws in keeping an eye out on the Sky and BSPA websites or Sky Sports News for the rest of the day lol.
  22. In honour of the new upcoming Sky Sports speedway broadcasting deal i've amended the lyrics to an old hit song '2525 (Exordium and Terminus)' by Zagar* & Evans *(no not that one) In the year 2525, if man is still alive If woman can survive, they may find they are Still waiting for Speedway's Sky TV deal In the year 3535 still waiting for Speedway's Sky TV deal Ain't gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lie Everything you think, do and say Is in the pill you took today In the year 4545 still waiting for Speedway's Sky TV deal You ain't gonna need your teeth, won't need your eyes You won't find a thing to chew Nobody's gonna look at you In the year 5555 still waiting for Speedway's Sky TV deal Your arms hangin' limp at your sides Your legs got nothin' to do Some machine's doin' that for you In the year 6565 still waiting for Speedway's Sky TV deal Ain't gonna need no husband, won't need no wife You'll pick your son, pick your daughter too From the bottom of a long glass tube In the year 7510 still waiting for Speedway's Sky TV deal If God's a-coming, He oughta make it by then Maybe He'll look around Himself and say "Guess it's time for the Judgement Day" In the year 8510 still waiting for Speedway's Sky TV deal God is gonna shake His mighty head He'll either say, "I'm pleased where man has been" Or tear it down, and start again In the year 9595 still waiting for Speedway's Sky TV deal I'm kinda wonderin' if man is gonna be alive
  23. Yeah i just came here to post after seeing mention on Sportowefakty; "On Wednesday, news portal reported that Eurosport will broadcast matches of the Swedish league. So far, representatives of the stations do not confirm these reports, but they should soon see the light of day. According to our information, that in each turn Elitserien TV show two meetings. Moreover, aired on Eurosport 2 will broadcast speedway magazine devoted entirely to struggle in the top division in Sweden." Now whether that means we'll get in on the British version of Eurosport remains to be seen, if not will we likely be deprived of coverage on Premier Sports too Awwww i loved watching the Swedish Speedway.
  24. So long as they don't get to choose helmet colours or designs then i'm happy. Some traditions should be kept such as being able to see which rider is which pretty instantly. (most of the time). I never try and catch a glimpse of a race jacket to see where each rider is in a race, especially in wet conditions. I don't like it when in the US the race commentator will often refer to riders numbers. Plus i really can't be bothered building up a computer bank style memory in my brain of which numbers belong to which rider lol.
  25. Hopefully this is the best place for this topic??? I first clicked on 'This Forum' but that only seems to offer outlets for announcements, testing and support. Besides i think the BSF is an integral! PART of the sport in this country and a topic on it deserves a wide audience instead of the section where you need to log in to view. Also i inadvertently started it in the limited access 'general discussion' section of the forum. In view of some of the very tenuous threads running here in 'speedway news and discussions' i would hope this is an acceptable place for what i see as a valid 'speedway' thread. I stopped watching speedway when Belle Vue's Hyde Road track closed down when i was little. I'm guessing i was away from the sport all during the 80's and 90's (unsure). I only returned after catching sight of it on Sky TV. Struggling to remember what was around when particularly regarding the internet, hell including the internet itself lol. I know i was very busy with the ladies and music and fighting (Martial Arts i should clarify lol) and would not have had anything to do with computers when they first hit the public mainstream. I was very much a late, late, latecomer indeed to computers. Soooo......that brings me on to several questions regarding the BSF if anyone can answer the odd one or give their thoughts on the subjects as I'm presuming there ain't no Wiki for the BSF (unless someone now starts one). When did it come into existence? - methinks on the 8th day as God saved his best work to last. Is it under control of the original owner/s? Has it ever had any rivals or is it of legendary Speedway Star status and has seen off all 'rivals'? Without going into details hasn't it's existence been threatened on occasions, legal/financial/too much hassle? Who has given it the best praise from within the sport on the promoters and rider front. What percentage of riders and promoters are likely to regularly read it? What percentage of fans who attend meetings are probably members or at least read it? Bearing in mind one can always block posters who flame, bully, be silly or annoying, don't we all really, really love the BSF? Would it be detrimental to the sport and it's fans if it wasn't around? Anyone else got any questions about the foundation or history of the forum? LONG LIVE THE BSF
