If planning is refused it’s gonna cost him a small fortune (which he doesn’t appear to have) to appeal. I am pretty comfortable in seeing his pockets emptied. -

I definitely hear what you say BUT there is so much more they could do if they kept the stadium and track, all it takes is a little thought and imagination, in the same way Belle Vue sold their plan to MCC. -

They have definitely been shocked by the number of objections to their development plans, they seemed to think it was a done deal, a walk in the park. They didn’t bank on the outrage they have been hit with from local residents and Speedway supporters not only in Peterborough, around the U.K. and even the wider world. This is what happens when some random bloke from Surrey rocks up with a plan, who has no affinity for our city, no thought for our sporting heritage and no understanding of local people. -

I dare bet Aaron Murrell had never heard of AEPG until a cheque landed on his desk. Given the state of AEPGs finances filed at companies house in the last couple of days, I wouldn’t hang about cashing that cheque, Aaron. -

AEPG in desperate need of positive press on the back of almost 1500 objections to their Showground development plans. All seems a little obvious and more importantly, desperate. -

At this moment in time, the council haven’t approved any Showground development plans. In actual fact, the retrospective change of use planning application for vehicle maintenance and storage by AEPG has been refused, subject to a public planning meeting on 17/10. I like to think the council are being impartial and honest (leave it), and we will see in due course. If an application is refused by the planning department and then suddenly approved on 17/10 then there will certainly be a whiff in the air. -

During the TV broadcast, when they went to one of the breaks, they showed odd clips, on one of the clips it showed a riders tank being filled and the colour of the methanol was pink. Have they started putting colouring in methanol? Never seen that before, but it has been a while since I was in and around any pits! -

You are not quite correct in your assumption. AEPG are ‘agents’ for the East of England Agricultural Society (EoEAS) who own most of the land on the Showground, some of the land is owned by Milton Estates (most of which is beside the A1) which EoEAS lease from them. AEPG have produced (what’s laughing called) a master plan for development of the Showground. If and (hopefully not) planning is approved, AEPG will sell off parcels of land (on behalf of EoEAS) to developers, they will take a cut of the sale, my guess is 70/30, the 70 going to the EoEAS. So in summary AEPG have not leased the Showground, they do not own it, they are agents or tenants who seem to be able to do what they like in order to get this development completed for EoEAS. -

The ability to submit comments/objections to the development plans for the Showground and the end of Peterborough Speedway remain open for the foreseeable future. Provided by Cllr Julie Stevenson to clarify the position regarding deadlines: Clarification received from the council today: "The ability to make comments online will not 'close' after the deadline. Local residents still will be able to submit online comments right up to the point that the application is determined. We have to provide a deadline in order to meet statutory regulations and to help manage the application process. There are a number of different dates because for a major application we publicise the application in different ways ie letter, site notice and press notice which go out at different times. All the comments made by other residents and consultees will be viewable up to the determination date too." We are now over 1300 comments/objections, (including one from SCB and BSPL) that’s an amazing achievement and it’s being noticed, your voices are being heard in important places, the number of comments/objections is unprecedented for planning applications in Peterborough. Let’s keep going. Let’s turn the screw. Let’s keep doing this. Let people hear your voice. Anyone from anywhere can submit a comment. Here’s two links that will take you straight to the two planning applications that have been submitted for developing the Peterborough Showground and to make comments and/or objections. You can comment on both applications. https://planpa.peterborough.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=makeComment&keyVal=RSOMJ0MLIWV00 https://planpa.peterborough.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=makeComment&keyVal=RSXWVDML04U00 -

Lazy journalism. Interpreted the comments different to what many others have done. I’ve now submitted two emails to the paper listing the other side of the argument with my phone number and open to a call. No one has called me and no reporting. Nothing. No one reads the damn paper anyway these days. -

Today’s a bit of a come down for many, the final league meeting last night. Don’t worry I’ll look crump99 out at Posh tomorrow and give him a slap. -

Correct and that will be no small sum of money, circa £20k I would expect. -

I would argue the point about them being ‘professional’ they have no track record of developing anything like the scale of the Showground. -

There is no way in the world Peterborough would race a season at another track outside of the city, that would be financial suicide. -

Currently Buster has nothing to sell and any potential buyer has nothing to buy, that has been the case all season, even the air fence needs replacing after this season. If a 2-3 year lease could be negotiated then that puts things into a different perspective, Buster could sell (or carry on), a buyer could buy and 2-3 years could be spent securing land and building a new track and facilities which according to the local plan the developers will have to pay for. With the best will in the world, nothing will be built where the track is for a long time. If AEPG would agree to 2-3 years it would get them much positive PR and everyone would (sort of) be happy (except the local residents, of which I am one). At the moment AEPG are getting pelters and it is only going to get a lot lot worse for them. AEPG say they aren’t bothered by the local outrage, but they definitely are, they are not liking the non stop criticism and watching objections filed every day with not one single positive comment. They have misjudged Peterborough people big time and it’s moving towards a watershed moment for Peterborough City Council. -

Great news we’ve smashed through 700 we now have 707 objections keep it going folks. I want 1000. For context the new football stadium was shelved with 6 (SIX) objections.
