So we move on to the rip offs and table toppers Somerset take on Ipswich to see who can progress to the final and be crowned "League Champs". The Rebels finished 20 points clear of the Witches over the season, but like the Aces last night must face a team that has hit top form over the last five or six weeks, and face them with a weakened team. Interesting comments by Pearson about the team that finishes top should be awarded the title of top team, and have the silly k o tournament afterwards for the teams that basically achieved zip. Sorry definitely have no time for the rip offs and also don't believe that Speedway will die a horrible death if we do away with them. If Ippo get past us and win the thing they will be Champs, ridiculous . By the way this is not a dig at Ipswich or their supporters just a personal view.

Belle Vue Vs Wolves, Grand Final 2nd Leg, 5/10/16...
Cliffeboy replied to Col's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Well done wolves for winning tonight, whilst a whole season of good form for Belle Vue goes up in smoke on the back of one bad night on Monday. Big of Adams to say Belle Vue have been the top team this season. Still hate the rip offs. -
Semi Final Ipswich V Somerset
Cliffeboy replied to mickthemuppet's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
We will see, but if we do lose and Ippo win the rip offs they can kid themselves try were the best team in 2016.Interesting comment by Pete Adams last night when Wolves were demolishing the Aces, saying basically to be Champs you need to just get to the final and win that match, ,don't matter about the other 24 matches. I know I keep going on about it , it is such a stupid thing in Speedway. -
Is it me from afar or has Starkey suddenly lost a bit of form?

No Jake for the Rebels is a blow, r/r will not cover his potential score. The Rebels top four will all need to be on it to get anything from this one. -
Agree completely with the above , I remember we used Robbo quite frequently a couple of seasons back as a guest and he never let us down as far as I recall. He then came to our place with his own team ( Rye I think) and didn't do much at all and was quoted as saying " it's a lot easier riding with the Rebels than against them". It's always awkward with guests imo , one you can generally cope with , but three plus an untried NL rider makes it very hard. I hope they do well and wish them all the best and a safe meeting.

How? Did you watch Tungate last night, and Josh is flying at the moment. Hope it is on though as the Monarchs have endured a terrible season with the weather.

Somerset V Sheffield Lc Semi 9.9.16.
Cliffeboy replied to Cliffeboy's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Asked for 15 and got 18, so happy, great stuff once again for all the guys, at least a paid win again for the all top 6. -
Cant see anything for this so here we are. Rebels to win I think judging by the Tigers collapse last night at Ippo. Looks like Garrity is still not 100% , so looks like it will be up to Stead and Howarth to carry the flag. Rebels have Ritchings in for Zach anything he can score will be a bonus, Rebels been pretty much a six man team since Zach got injured. A 15 point win should do it imo.

Yes correct, injuries at the wrong time. Hopefully the lads can all stay fit this time.

And twice I've liked it.

Not sure where you got 80 to 90 % I could only find about 10 , and the only motor based one is NASCAR . Mostly in USA . The second point , proper trophy for the table toppers and minor trophy for rip off winners. How can the major trophy not go to the team that have done the buis over the full season , come on . Glad you said you were younger are you one of the "right on " brigade who don't like kids losing at school sports. I agree with you re the teams all starting on a level threshold, points wise. So if this season you have a bad one, you get a chance to start over again with a level playing field to get It right the following season. Nobody at all fancied Somerset this year, massive gamble on Tungate and two untried riders in BWD and Jake at this level plus Zach. Over the season they have eclipsed all the fancied teams by a country mile, but it means nothing , and as a sports fan of some 50 years I can't support that. Time for me to shut up now, I've enjoyed all the discussions today I'm all talked out ( thank goodness I can hear you all saying ). Two semis coming up for us now, would be great if we could pot a trophy or two to go with the Pairs.

Nah, don't buy that , if you ran a couple of attractive fixtures at the end of the season , the difference in attendance would be negligible imo. Your hard core support would still pitch up. Imagine the scenario in football , Leicester finish top in the best PL ever then we run a little play off nonsense , United splash out again and win . Man U now champs.....uproar. I cannot think of another sport where favourites are not nailed on as you imply than speedway. Literally one second can ruin an entire fixture for you with no going back.

We all know the rules at the start Rob, but what people are saying is it's stupid and makes our sport look barmy. In your post where you point out Rye were worthy champs, you also use words and phrases like "good fortune for Rye", and "more fool them ". As I recall KL were top top team that year, very entertaining team. We are stuck with it this year but please you guys who look after Speedway please bin this nonsense for 2017.
