Somerset V Glasgow Pl May 13th 2016 @ 19-30
Cliffeboy replied to Paulco's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
First really big match of the season with title favourites Glasgow taking on the Rebels. The Tigers will rely heavily on their top four and hope they all bring their "A" game to town. The Rebels are much stronger in the reserve and second string dept and with Josh and especially Rohan flying at the moment, it could be a long night for the Jocko`s. Safe journey to all travelling fans and a good safe meeting please. Rebels win for me, by how much?, depends on the above. -
Fourteen should be enough for the Rebels in the return, I predicted between 10 and 15 at the start. According to the updates it could have been worse for the Comets who certainly appeared to get the bounce of the ball as it were. Williamson interfered in at least three results, Allens puncture also cost the Rebels points. Still hopefully what goes around comes around. I agree it will probably be decided on how the Rebels newbies adapt to the Comets track, In our favour an in form Rohan will return, should be a cracker.

If Brady signs he will be a great addition to the team, definitely strengthens the Devils. He was great for us at Somerset, I was disappointed when he decided to go full time Elite, I thought he needed another season including doubling up this year. I can see him averaging 9+ easy.

Tasty little opener in the defence of the Cup. Comets going ok at the moment, not sure if they have enough to trouble the Rebels though. No Tungate is a pain as he seems to be settling in nicely at the OTA, but Howarth is normally a good guest, and he was widely touted as a possible Rebel this term. Rebels win then by 10 to 15 should be enough to progress.

I did point out that I was not there and was going by Statto's excellent descriptions of the races. As Naj has pointed out King was on the wrong end of a 1-5 when he came down so you are assuming maybe he would have recovered to share the heat had he not fallen. There are other riders like Kerr , Covatti and Risinger who should have scored more and been more competitive I think from a witches point of view. I see Covatti had a big off in the match the previous day which may have hindered him although nothing was said regarding this. If you award 9 points to Danny the witches still lose by 12, take off the tac and it is 14. Your opinion was by losing by 30 that wasn't so bad, on my opinion it was, hardly "classic".

Wasn't there mate but 1-5's in heats 10,11,13,14 and 15 even without King suggest otherwise.

Very impressed with the early season form from the 2016 Rebels, long may it continue. A lot of the headlines have been about BWD and Jake and rightly so in their debut seasons, however the old boys Josh, Paul and Charlie have quietly been going about their business in an impressive manner. Josh only headed once in 10 away races, Charles improved so much he has been promoted to heat leader with Swindon ( could not believe how quick he was out of the traps at Rye ) and Paul also getting a top 5 outing for Leicester. If they continue to perform there is already the platform in place for the 2017 team. I know it is very early days but this team is already getting praise from posters on here, which is always nice , long may it continue, well done again Gary May and the team.

Hope it is on tonight, so the lads can get some track time. Fantastic start to the away campaign we need to carry on in the same vein at home. King is a Pairs winner and Covatti was a pest last season with various teams he guested for lol. I think the Rebels have a bit too much for the Witches all round though, with Jake and BWD already showing a liking for the OTA. Zach has been a bit unfortunate with machinery problems hindering his progress so hoping he can have a goodun tonight.Safe meet as always to all riders, Rebels by 10 for me.

King is a Pairs winner and Covatti was a pain last season particularly as a guest at our place. I agree that I think the reserves will be pivotal, additionally the Wright/Starke pair are quite potent this year. A Rebels win for me by about 8. -

Well done Somerset again, especially Josh beating King twice, reverse fixture tomorrow will be just as tight IMO. -

Probably because the Rebels have been battering most teams at our place over the last few seasons. -

Yeah that's a definite Sid, meant to say as well I liked the idea of the Rockets walking around the track at the end to receive the applause of the supporters, much more personal than a quick buzz round on the back of the tractor.I reckon that would go down well at the OTA . -

Enjoyable first meeting for me this year, good to see Shads and also Sid who bought me up to all the changes at Rye. Things certainly are looking up at the moment with lots of improvements being made. Good match with some good action best of the bunch being heat 7 with Robbo and Starkey passing each other for fun with Robbo just getting the edge on the run to the line. Very good show from the Rebels with every rider except Zach being paid for at least one win. BWD was the stand out performer for me closely followed by Wrighty ( lightening out of the gate then good speed ). Jake did well on his first visit and was unlucky with his fall when comfortably in first place in heat 8. Starkey also was well on the pace and with Wrighty easily outclassed their opposite numbers in the Rye team. Rohan was good when he gated, but you did not think he would pass anyone, disappointing heat 9 when Brad went past both Rye guys and he finished last. For Rye Eddie was different class and Robbo came to the party late on, Heeps and Lanham didn't impress me much, they need to up their game I think. All in all good match with good racing . -

Yeah I know but I was wondering wether it could have had the classification changed as both teams had no guests, the abnormality was the T/R but don't tell Scunny. -

I suppose the result of the match with the Devils last week will not stand because Newman did T/R lol Ref got it spot on with Morley , he heard BWD coming I think looked over his shoulder and started sliding off, def no contact , we were on the back straight right behind them. Ref made a very quick decision so probably no doubt in his mind. You win some, you lose some in those situations. -

I thought Jake was on the pace today, good second place behind Josh in heat 5 , and unlucky to rear and come off in heat 8 when comfortably in front. BWD was good today but wasn't sure about his machinery, two great gutsy wins by him though. -
