  1. Taken from the Rye House website - make of it what you will: An under-strength and under-powered Silver Ski Rockets team was overwhelmed by Workington 56-34 in Hoddesdon on Saturday night. It was the Rockets’ second home defeat of 20 or more points this season, and the seventh highest suffered in Hertfordshire in their history. They were always going to be up against it given the tough combination of strong opposition and the absence of World Long Track star Mathieu Tresarrieu. Enforced National League guest replacement Nathan Greaves was duly unable to contribute a point, to leave an obvious hole in Rye’s score-chart. The Rockets’ problems ran far deeper, however, with leading lights Edwrad Kennett, Jason Garrity and Steve Boxall all suffering mechanical problems. The Comets took full advantage to systematically dismantle the home side with a powerful performance that combined sharp gating and all-round team strength. Unbeaten star Rene Bach, Mason Campton and inspired guest Kasper Lykke were the pick of their bunch, although all six visitors were paid for at least one race win. The Rockets, in contrast, could manage only five victories in total. Three of those came in the final three races to prevent a 50-22 deficit at the time widening even further. The one real positive from the match from a home perspective came when Stefan Nielsen took maximum man Bach all the way in Heat 8. The double British U-19 Champion was passed by the Dane on the second lap, but briefly forced his way past again and was only a couple of bike lengths adrift of his adversary at the chequered flag. Rye House team manager John Sampford admitted afterwards, “We were always going to be on a hiding to nothing with Mathieu Tresarrieu missing and no guest facility available, but our mechanical problems really didn’t help. “Edward Kennett brought a new engine that was set up for big tracks – he was planning to use it for the first time at Peterborough on Tuesday – but switched to it after problems with his preferred one and finally got a couple of wins. “Steve Boxall had just got his engine back, but it was down on power, and a snapped chain didn’t help him either. And Jason Garrity blew an engine after his first win, and then experienced clutch problems on his second bike. “I’m not going to say that we would have got a result without those problems, but they turned a very difficult match into the horror story it became.”

  3. There was a time I never missed a meeting both PL and CL but travelling 1.5hrs each way is starting to grind on me now with the current promotion. I’ve been harping on for a few years that things need to change, Team, Presentation, Food and Drink etc but to no avail and as Len said “if you don’t like it don’t come” well I may just stop going altogether!
  4. Not even sure if I can be bothered anymore - really depressing going to Rye these days!
  5. That’s how things used to be but the modern viewpoint is people will only support winning sides especially if you are a stand alone team. If you fail to be contenders then the supporters will find a team that does contend or leave the sport altogether. Whoever said, 'It's not whether you win or lose that counts,' probably lost. Martina Navratilova
  6. Hmm! Not the first time that Rye has been the only meeting called off on a Saturday #justsaying
  7. I have said this before but here goes again - The landfill on the bends would have paid for most, if not all of the airfence at Rye.
  8. Well they did say they didn’t want anything to do with this forum (even though it’s free advertising?) so perhaps they have taken the same view with their own website lol …there is a slight chance of a small rain shower during the day, and a woman 20 miles away sneezed yesterday so this may get called off! I’m sure that one fan that usually goes wont be disappointed at wasting his time!
  9. Why? - Len has a big reputation for early and unnecessary call off’s to gain an advantage. Speedway is losing fans big time and things like this just make it worse.
  10. The airfence blocks the spectators view on the bends - Len had landfill in to raise the ground of the bends to allow some view, it’s like watching the riders disappear down a tunnel though! Does this mean the powers that be will be investigating the reason to call it off like they did with BV?
  11. BH Monday meetings I can make @ Rye - Sunday's I work so you know where my thoughts are on that one. I've mentioned it on the Rye thread but he we go again - the airfence would have been either mostly or totally covered by the money recieved from the landfill ! We all know Len makes a profit from Rye. Having checked the forecast I'm very surprised this meeting is off - worth keeping an eye on the weather! another shot in the foot by the KK.
  12. The air fence would have cost Len very little if anything at all - the landfill would have paid for that!
  13. There is a quote from him about last night on the Rye website which suggests he was there - I expect a later than normal call-off which will piss even more people off!
  14. Rather than wait for someone else to start this thread on the day lets get stuck in now! Does anyone have any news of all the injured riders? I think Rye will win this one; it used to be a close meeting when they meet in the past but the rockets appear to have the upper hand now. Any thoughts?
  15. I am a big Wimbledon fan but fail to see why people are promoting a club on this forum that have the following attitude.
  16. When I started a thread and used the word “Rockets” in the title I got a message from a moderator telling me that’s not acceptable as not everyone knows who the “Rockets” are? With so much top sport on at 5pm today I’m not sure how many will turn up – with the current team it could be the lowest crowd of the season. Can’t decide if I will go or not as I have to deal with all that Wembley traffic!
  17. Just for information purposes if you read all of those 11,000 + posts I can almost guarantee that there will not be one single post that goes against any form of speedway governing body. In addition there will be no posts against any promotion that he has/does works for despite the fact that sometimes they are clearly in the wrong.
  18. Agree as well - big shot in th foot today for the Kings! no doubt parsloes 1928 nearly will be on here to explain everything!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Most or even maybe all of the cost of the airfence will be covered by the landfill on the bends!
  20. Just checked 3 weather reports all saying heavy rain @ 2pm ?
  21. Agree with everything you said there! - also feel it was out of order Craig giving out the result from the GP that morning, I had already watched it but several people near me hadn’t and were fuming with him as they had asked me not to say anything about it. In the past they said if anyone wanted to know the result pay a visit to the box and they would tell them personally there. No one has mentioned the battles between Kennett and Barker?
  22. Not been to a meeting yet this year and looking at this thread can't decide if this is the one! oh what to do!
  23. He has posted on the Rye thread today!
