  1. My big worry is what sort of team we could put out next year, if you look at our asset base then there very few options, only really James Wright and Ludvig Lindgren ( probably Jason wont do EL anymore). So we would just be signing riders the bigger teams didnt want to use and it remains to be seen how much Tony is willing to spend on the side. Also we have to remember that costs are THREE times of the Premier League, so I would be a bit worried. However, currently we are paying £15 for Premier League Speedway, you have to wonder whether some people find that too expensive for that level of speedway. There will be many job losses in this city where people will pick and choose sporting events and perhaps some people would eb attracted to a 'higher level' of speedway for that price. Theres no doubt derby matches with Wolves and Coventry would draw in big crowds, plus it could even increase publicity for the club accross the city. Every bloody time BBC WM are interviewing Drury they are ALWAYS asking about the Brummies moving up. Also could big potential sponsors come onboard if we raced at a higher level, in terms of sponsorship the club is in a very good position in that regard aleadly. So I can see both sides of the argument, however theres no doubt it would be a gamble and I would be apprehensive if it happened. Although whatever they decide, I will back them 100% as if we did move up the the club needs our full support even more. Tomorrow evenings AGM news cant come quick enough as far as im concerned.
  2. Anyone believe this could be true. http://www.lovespeedway24.co.uk/home/witches_look_premier_league_bound_1_732520
  3. I just cant believe the BSPA always insist on having the NL AGM much later than the EL/PL one. Whilst there are problems with the Elite League and Ipswich there are also problems with the National League and the league set up. The sport in this country is going through a rough time that affects ALL 3 leagues so why should the National League have their AGM later, we need firm action NOW.
  4. I thought you reached agreement with Wolves to race your home meetings their next season.
  5. I would doubt that about Perry Barr, they had to scrap Thursday night greyhounds because of poor crowds and this year the Stadium Manager was made redundant by the GRA, yes you heard me right the Stadium Manager!! . The stadium is run by I believe a more regional manager now.
  6. Wouldnt mind seeing the Dream Team back at Perry Barr next season, really enjoyed their visit last season. Would prefer it be against the Brummies this time if at all possible.
  7. I think Wizzer would have been a great choice personally, adored by the fans with his time at the club and I really think he would be suited to the role. The thing that would count against him would be experience but he has to start out somwhere why not here? He would be a breath of fresh air in my opinion but Im sure Tony will appoint someone that will do a good job in trying to secure more silverware for the club. Should know in the Next Week.
  8. Monmore crowds are much bigger, so its only sense they race all their matches there next year. I would say the Heathens crowds at Perry Barr were very good but everytime I went to Wolves it seemed packed each time. Didnt get that feeling at the Barr.
  9. Yes I read that in the Heathens section in today Speedway Star apparently Tony Mole offered to a track share again but they want to ride at Monmore on Tuesdays only next season. Probably best for all parties however I still plan to catch as many Heathens matches as possible if I have a Tuesday evening free.
  10. Yep, The BBC WM Speedway Forum is on BBC WM tonight from 8 to 9pm. Listened to the few highlights they showed in the breakfast show this morning and some very encouraging news for Dudley in trying to find a new stadium. Tony Mole, Nigel Pearson, Peter Adams and Tai Woffinden are on the panel. Link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/bbc_wm
  11. So I guess it rules out Wizzer as Team Manager , if he said experienced then probably Ian Thomas will be the choice. The BBC WM Speedway Forum will be broadcasted on this link from 8pm, panel also includes Peter Adams, Nigel Pearson and Tai Woffinden as well as Tony Mole. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/bbc_wm :)
  12. Delighted Mick Bratley is staying on board , hes been fantastic for the Brummies and is well like by all the fans. The "Sunday Funday" and "Make me a Fan" promotions he has introduced have been a resounding success and it would have been a great shame if he wasnt here in 2011. Its clear he was doing something right if he has turned down two Elite League Clubs and a fellow Premier League Club to stay with the Brummies. I cant forget about mentioning Bratters Programme Notes, the highlight of the 2010 Brummies Programme. Very Very Funny and a fantastic read, so Im delighted we can all enjoy reading them once again in 2011. Its been a few weeks since the Brummies season ended but at last we have some good news to talk about.
  13. How about this team/s: 1. Jason Lyons 9.17 2. Richard Sweetman 7.68 3. Rusty Harrison 6.92 4. Paul Clews 5.51 (2.5% reduction) 5. Chris Kerr 5.47 6. Kyle Newman 3.61 (2.5% reduction) OR Klaus Jakobsen 4.70 7. Tom Perry 3.00 Total: 41.36 OR 42.45 Without a Team Manager in place, I dont know if the 2011 side has even been dicussed but this is the side I would would like. I guess Tony would want to use some of the clubs assetts, we have a small assett base but the likes of Paul Clews and Rusty Harrison are. To not have Jason Lyons back for his fifth season would be unthinkable and he too is of course a Brummies Assett. I would love to see Richard back, I really think he can improve that average to 9+ next year without a doubt. An improvement in average could be said for Kyle Newman and I think every Brummies fan would be delighted to see him return. However he isnt our assett and I guess other clubs would be interested too. He would certaintly be my fist choice for the No6 postion but if not then I wouldnt mind seeing Klaus return. He showed during his brief stint that he could do a good job and is an alternative option if Kyle doesnt return. The one Brummies Assett Ive omitted from that side is Ludvig Lindgren, he took the risk to move up last winter and put a point on his El starting average. Would he come back on on his 2009 average which is 6.06 or double his 2010 El average. Even still I think its very unlikely to see him drop back down to race for the Brummies in 2011. However he is a Brummies Assett and I hope Tony can strike some sort of deal with Wolves. The rider we would love to see back is Chris Kerr he is a Wolves Asset and looking at the 'Wolverhampton 2011 thread' it seems alot of their fans want Ludde back. So surely its logical that an arrangement could be made with Wolves regarding Ludvig and Chris. Chris himself has expressed a desire to return next year and lives locally.
  14. 2009 Premier League Pairs To say Graham spouted off is really complete nonsense. We are a big club, I accept we havent won a 1-7 team trophy but we have only been back 4 seasons. Over many years greast riders rode for this club and the club has a long distingushed history, what do you expect Graham to say. If I heard Graham talking down the Brummies I would very disapointed, he has never done that and why should he.
  15. Now the Brummies Season is over I thought I would start this with a view to next season. Firstly its great to start this, now we have full planning permission, at least that Black Cloud has gone from the club. There has obviously been a lot happening over the past 2-3 weeks in regards to the future with Gary Patchett leaving. We know the club is in very safe hands in Tony Mole, theres no-one better experienced in running this club. The Question is will he run it himself or will others come on or will Mick Bratley stay on. To be honest we can speculate untill the cows come home about this but only Tony knows what his plans are and he will let us know in good time. What I do think needs to happen is this to be resolved before the AGM as every year we see teams get stuck in to team building straight away. Then the question is whether Graham and Denise will stay at the club. I think both of them have been fantastic for Birmingham Speedway over the past four years. He said he has to sit down with Tony to discuss his future. I hope Graham stays on I really do, but this also needs to be decided ASAP so the club can move forward. Once we know then the club can move forward to the bright future we know we have. Looking ahead to next years team, I guess we could be looking a different team with a change of promotion. If we didnt have a stupid points limit then I would love to see them all back but that obviously wont be the case. Of the team that finished the season, I think only Jason Lyons is a Birmingham Asset. I think it would be unthinkable not to have Jason as the first rider signed, he is a legend of Birmingham Speedway. He was widely wrote off during the close season and many fans said he would drop his average even though his average was only 8.02. Whilst the other 2010 Brummies arnt our riders it would be good if we good get some of them back on loan. I would say its unlikely that Aaron Summers will return as hes owned by Edinburgh and I can see him riding there next year. Chris Kerr is a Wolves rider and with a very attractive average he is surely to be in many PL Promotors minds but I do hope Chris returns. I dont know about Johno, he dropped his average alot and seemed to get passed on the outside far too much. He would offer alot to the younger rides but I thought Johno was a disapointment this year to be honest. I certaintly wouldnt mind Sweetman, Sedgmen and Newman coming back on loan next year. The likes of Ludvig Lindgren, Rusty Harrison, Paul Clews are Brummies assets that might be considered too. Oh and fellow Brummies fans lets not forget Brent Werner and Mattia Carpenese too . A rider I would love to see is Micky Dyer, think the kid has alot of raw talent on a bike if a little wild at times. Probably an Understatement but I love his riding style. Also I think Kyle Legault has unfinished business here after his crash, I think he will return sometime in the future not saying it will be in 2011 but we can always hope. Whatever team we have it will be competitive thats for sure. It might not be as expensive as this years but it doesnt mean we cant challenge and win honours. We have a future now and its about building towards that, that is most important. We challenged before Gary Patchett came and I firmly believe we will in 2011 with Tony back in charge. So its sure to be a fasinating winter, Cant Wait to March already !!!
  16. Can anyone tell me the weather at the minute in Wolverhampton. Its monsoon like in Brum and was hoping to get to this.
  17. It makes you wonder why they cant just stage this at Monmore Green. Dudley have recently announced an end of season challenge with Stoke so why couldnt that date be used for it, I would like to think this is more important then an inter-league challenge. I know it would be a Tuesday but the weekends are always crammed full with other fixtures plus it would be on a fantastic race track in a stadium use to holding big events.
  18. What a shambles, the BSPA are a total disgrace . Its bad enough that this has been cancelled late with people coming from far away, going to a lot expense at the process. Why do it, Rye House are using Sunday so whats the problem with Saturday. Come on BSPA we want ANSWERS!!! As someone said the kids in this league are our future and this is kick in the teeth from the BSPA MC. They are treating us like fools and wonder why people stay away at times. Shocking
  19. For anyone interested BBC WM covered this meeting live last night, you can listen again on these links below below: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p00b9476/Football_PhoneIn_05_10_2010/ http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p00b9479/WM_Sport_05_10_2010/
  20. He would get the worst Ever Birmingham Rider award too Im sure . Seriously what is the point of giving him a wildcard year after year, its the same every year.
  21. Delighted that Tomasz clinched the World Title tonight, he deserves it totally. It would have been a crying shame if Tomasz had gone through his career without winning it, when you consider how gifted he is riding a speedway bike. :approve: Got to also say, huge well done to Bomber thought he was sensational tonight . Excellent GP too after a slowish start.
  22. Well done to Super Kyle, more of the same Wednesday plz
  23. You want to see it at Monmore Green Topaz, the crowds are even bigger . Whilst the Heathens get good crowds at the Barr, its alot bigger at Monmore. I think some dont travel to Perry Barr for some reason but the crowds are very good. At Monmore for the Bournemouth meeting there was a 15-20 minute to get in plus the Newport meeting two weeks back the crowd was huge at least 2000. I can fully understand the views of a newcomer to Perry Barr about the viewing. On the first second bend even with the wooden plank to stand on your view is somewhat hampered (unless in temp stands). In the past we have been restricted as to what we can do, without full planning it makes no sense for a promotor to commit loads of money if the sport isnt certain of continuing. Therefore it was interesting to read that on the day of us getting full planning, there were quotes from Tony Mole about "improving spectator viewing" thats all he said but my money is on the first/second bend with possibly the outside viewing on the home straight. So we should see the viewing getting better on the bend, I dont what they are going to do. You just cant put another temp stand as you are blocking the an exit from the pits, but all they need to do is raise it somewhat especially if an Airfence is installed sometime in the future. Apparently the Council has agreed to the upgrade as they own the stadium so I hope more details are released about it soon.
  24. Well done to Buxton, you really have some team. Dudley have been rampant at Monmore in recent home meetings and to go there and win is really a top notch effort. I see Micky D put in another good showing ......
