Deadline For Nl Fixtures
Brummie Kev replied to Parsloes 1928 nearly's topic in National League Speedway
I think its a total farce, but it has happened before sadly in the Premier League in 2007. We ended up finishing second but at the cut off date we werent in the play offs and the BSPA wouldnt move it. It all came down to the Glasgow Away meeting, it was rained off in June then rescheduled for September just before the cut off but yet again it was rained off. They wouldnt move the cut off date so we had no choice but to not run it before the cut off. So we were fifth but its hardly our fault it was rained off twice yet we had our play off hopes snatched away by the BSPA. -
Dudley Heathens Vs. Plymouth Devils 08/09
Brummie Kev replied to willp's topic in National League Speedway
Enjoyed this meeting, so glad I was here and not at Kings Lynn to watch the Brummies capitulate. Eventful is not the word, crashes galore but thank god it seems all the riders are okay. Plymouth I feel deserve huge credit for coming and giving their all with an absolutley sensational performance from Mark Simmonds. In all truth the Devils were really a two man team with Seemond Stephens doing well in his early rides but even he had engine trouble in his final rides. Nicki Glanz was shocking, could not belive how poor he was considering his high average. The Heathens were a bit hit and miss. The top two of Lee Smart and Barrie Evens had below par meetings, hope Lee is okay after his nasty crash. His chain snapped mid race throwing him off the bike head first onto the track. Ashley Morris tried but he was involved in a nasty crash at the end of the home straight when it slid off at speed into the fence. Dudleys best rider was Richard Franklin, who gave 100% and rode well fair to him. Anderson was another did well but does know the track after his short stint with us. Tom Perry was brilliant entertainment once again, personally he can miss the gate in every it race doesnt bother me . Heat 9 was just a superb race between Mark Simmonds and Tom Perry, Simmonds held him off after Perry was all over him a rash going inside. Fair play to both for a great race. Decent crowd, not the Monmore standards but also good seeing 'Porky' on the microphone. He cracks me up sometimes and he had some good banter with the Plymouth fans. He was winding them up by asking if Plymouth was in Devon or Cornwall. .Got to say really impressed with the turn out from the Devils fans, considering its a long journey up and mid week you deserve a lot of credit. I for one hope to see you back at Perry Barr next season taking on the Brummies in the Premier League. -

Weather forecast is good so we should have a meeting today. All the best to the Heathens, I reckon they will be close to hitting 60 points once again. -

I would be VERY shocked indeed if Plymouth turned Dudley over given the awesome form the Heathens are on. Smarty knows the track, as does Jake and when they have raced at Perry Barr they have all looked decent. Especially that Micky Dyer, obviously practicing for when hes in the 2011 Brummies side. -
Thats a shame as it would be nice to the IOW back in the Premier League one day but obviously that wont be the case with crowds like that. If your figure is correct then what a difference it is from the crowds the IOW get and Dudley get. Was at Monmore on Tuesday and probably a crowd around the 2000, the stadium was absolutely packed. If Dudley had their own stadium then they would go straight into the Elite League without question with the superb support they get. Even Matt Ford asked to write an article in the Heathens rained off Weymouth Programme to praise the Heathens fans. Fair play to him for doing that.

What a win for the Heathens and great performances from Brummies Assetts Lee Smart and Jake Anderson.

Dudley Heathens Vs. Newport Hornets 31/08
Brummie Kev replied to willp's topic in National League Speedway
A superb meeting despite the large scoreline, very disapointed in Newport. Despite Dudleys awesome form of late, I thought Newport stood a chance of getting a point with the side they have. Newports reserves were very poor which meant they always faced an uphill battle plus some of the big guns in main body didnt fire. Todd Kurtz and Tony Atkin disapointed, probably only Mark Jones and Kyle Newman came out with any credit with Preist having one good ride. Kyle only scored 1 from his first 2 rides which included a big crash in his first ride. How he escaped serious injury I will never know but he has Barrie Evans to thank for a quite amazing quick reaction in laying his machine down. If Barrie had gone full pelt into Kyle then it could have been alot worse. Good to see Kyle do well later in the meeting with 7 from his final 3 rides. Dudley were unstoppable, right the way through their team. Ashley Morris was brilliant at reserve, no -one could get near to Lee Smart from his four ride maximum. Barrie Evans stormed to 3 wins out of 3 but had an EF on the startline of Heat 13. Micky Dyer will surely be in the Premier League next season, with hopefully the Brummies , looked really quick. The real star of the night for me was Tom'Fred'Perry and his entertainment value. Its always best when he misses the gate at Monmore as being a track specalist he is so exciting to watch and that proved the case in heat 5 and 12 when he won it the hard way. I know we keep on saying how good the crowds are but last nights was outstanding. Got to be about 2000 there at least as it was so packed on the terracing, felt like a tinned sardine standing there . Also good to see a few Newport fans there making plenty of noise and a good number of fellow Brummies fans, not just the two Porky was taking the piss out of on the straight. -
Perry is a fantastic talent, he was at it again last night at Monmore. Hes Box office when he misses the gate and comes from benind like in Heat 5 and Heat 12. Congratulations to 'Fred' Perry.

Making my over for this meeting, hope its a good meeting and GO Kyle Newman!!! -
I really would like to wish you all the luck in the world with getting the Tamworth Saxons back on track. As a Brummies fan and a fan of Midlands Speedway its always great to see new tracks open. There really seems to be a feel good factor about the sport in these parts with the huge success of the Heathens, the return of the Leicester Lions for the 2011 season and full planning for the Brummies in a bulit up area. You say theres 3 sites in Tamworth suitable for speedway, even if you come up with opposition just dont give up. We had alot of rocky times trying to secure the Brummies and it will be worth it if you come up successful. Good Luck!!

It was actually okay upto 2pm with dry pavements yet by 2.30 it closed in pretty quick. A shame as I was planning to go to this as I couldnt get to Kings Lynn. Surprised the re-arranged fixture is back at Perry Barr, theres more Heatens matches at PB in September then Brummies matches. -

Glad to see Austin Novratil in the touring team, was very impressed with his performance at Perry Barr in April bearing in mind hes a 15 year old kid. Big future in the sport in my opinion. :approve: -
Any News on how Kyle Newman is.

Its not on Virgin Media, only the red button for Sky Subscribers. It should be on Sky Sports 2, I can watch it but I feel sorry for people that cant. Farce from Sky, I hope ESPN get intersted in speedway.

Good Point for the Heathens with Lee Smart and Jake Anderson doing very well. I must say I'm a bit surprised with Tom Perrys score but well done Dudley.

Dudley Heath Or Cradley Heath?
Brummie Kev replied to The Dudley Heathen's topic in National League Speedway
Its certaintly worth a shot for the Heathens to approach Sandwell Borough Council, there seems to be more open spaces on the outskirts of West Bromwich that could be used for Speedway. Of Coruse theres an RSPB nature reserve in Sandwell and some of the land may be unpractical for speedway due to wildlife concerns. The area to look at is off Newton Road. There is a country park and an RSPB reserve and although its slim its worth a slot. You dont have a vast amount of land like that in the Cradley/Dudley area. -
Dudley Heathens Vs. Scunthorpe Saints - Tuesday 27th July
Brummie Kev replied to willp's topic in National League Speedway
What a sensational race  , one of the best Ive seen in a while. Perry is something special. -
I really cant understand whats wrong with Kings Lynn, tonight was fantastic and great advert for the sport. Yet here we are again where there seems to be a Premier/Elite thing going with this forum again. If it wasnt good enough then why did the FIM choose it, the likes of Poole and Coventry had had the big meetings in the past so why not let Kings Lynn have their turn. They did a great job and Im astonished at why people are moaning. GET A GRIP!!!!

Swc Event 2, King's Lynn, 26/7
Brummie Kev replied to Bagpuss's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
That was absolutley fantastic, I'm so chuffed with our performance. My money was on the Aussies to go straight through but the Brits rode with courage and determination and I'm so proud of them. I Was really on edge when Woffy lost it to Ward on the line and then Stead falling in the first bend of the next race. I was so sure Holder would win the re-run and was amazed when he didnt. Its easy for the rest of the team to lose focus in the final two heats but Bomber and Scotty kept their heads and rode a blinder. I thought Scotty was sensational tonight, to be honest all of them were. Perhaps we might finish third in the final but tonight was just fantastic. I must say the track was awesome, the crowd was excellent and the racing towards the end was superb. What a fantastic night!!!! -
I really do feel for Mildenhall, I too am amazed at how one person could get a stadium shut down. Your club has acted by putting sound barriers at a cost of £40,000 yet this one idiot still wants it shut. At Birmingham we had had problems with complaints about noise, the sound of the PA and would you believe even the amount of litter on the streets of Perry Barr. You always get people who moan, but acting on the concerns goes along way. Its why I'm amazed that despite all the hard work and expense you have gone to it still not make a difference. Good Luck Mildenhall

Brummie Kev replied to rhidassa's topic in National League Speedway
Not the best meeting to be honest, I thought the Islanders were dreadful only Nick Simmons, Danny Warwick and Dean Felton after his first outing did anything. Expected more from Brendan Johnson whilst Tom Hill and Ricky Scarboro seemed to have difficulty riding the track let alone racing the Heathens. It was a terrific performance from the Heathens, Tom Perry was pure entertainment when he missed the gate both in Heat 9 and Heat 12. Smart and Armstong were both outstanding as you would expect, disapointed in Jake thought he would go well tonight although had a good last race. Both the Heathens reserves, Ashley Morris and James Sarjeant did well. Pleased for James afer being dropped by the Heathens Managment. Lastly and by no means least, what a showing from Micky Dyer. The kid seems to have real talent and really attractive riding style, really is good to watch. Think he may be in the Premier League next season and I pray to god its with the Brummies. Awesome. Excellent Crowd once again, just a pity it was men against boys. -
