  1. So Mick Horton will be "addressing" the fact that Bjarne lines up at reserve for Poole? What's to address at this stage of the season exactly? Poole, like every club, have played by the rules and built a team to EL 2016 standard. Mick, on the other hand, effectively chose to build us a PL standard team at the start of the year, knowing that opportunities to change mid season would be virtually non-existent.
  2. That's a blow for Garrity and his teams. Wish him well for a speedy recovery. A short term replacement is a must now and Steady would appear to be the best choice if available. Out of interest, would Richard Hall be eligible/worth a punt as a trial replacement for the out of sorts Sarjeant? Feel for Sarjeant as he's punched well above his weight for us the last 2 seasons but really seems to be struggling right now.
  3. Putting my optimistic hat on for once, we could make a go of this if our top 4 show up, depends if KK is aware he has 4 programmed rides, not 1 and if King can do, well, anything! Even then we've got our obvious reserve problems to deal with though. Hans to rub it in again. Around Coventry Lindgren strengthens Poole, R/R for Kurtz like for like really.
  4. Good signing for the Lions. Many will say Summers isn't a heatleader but I think he can hold that role down. It's a shame the Bees already had two double uppers signed as I would definitely have taken Summers at Coventry, even on that average.
  5. Ended up an even bigger thrashing than I thought it looked like being. KK seemed to be doing his best Hans Andersen impersonation tonight after a classy win in heat 1, will be a horrible season if that keeps up. Only plus from a Bees point of view was Garrity looking better with a big first and last programmed ride. Deserved his heat 15. Bates too had a storming heat 12 to beat Howarth by a country mile, hope he can start doing that more consistently as the season goes on. Pretty dismal from the management not to tell fans the deal with Knuckey replacing Sarj, we're well used to be kept out of the loop now though. No criticism of Knuckey who is clearly very committed to doing the best he can for Coventry, but it's a sad, sorry state of the draft system when you have to look that far down the list to replace a tier 1 reserve. Didn't even get to see any classic Bomber passes tonight which made it feel all very deflating really. Having said that, it shows just HOW good Wolves were tonight, very impressed with Thorssell again and Wolves had excellent top end strength in the always good value at Brandon, Freddie Lindgren and Kylmakorpi who showed all of his Longtrack style and speed to keep Bomber at bay several times. I really don't want to be too harsh on Danny King but one meeting aside, he really seems to be struggling racing teams' top 5 riders, what's gone wrong from the solid, dependable rider he was for Birmingham?
  6. Thanks for sharing, honestly didn't know KK was missing. Was thinking of going Thursday until just finding out our number 1 is missing. Unbelievable that a potentially attractive fixture is being raced on a cold, dark night in March and worse still with a big name rider known to be unavailable in advance! Another glaringly obvious opportunity missed by the sport.
  7. The forecasted heavy rain has just started in Coventry. Given it's arrived bang on time, maybe it will clear on time too and give the meeting a chance to go ahead.
  8. Not a bad meeting which had some good races. Shame he's riding for Poole but I like Buczkowski, a decent racer and had a good scrap with Harris. Long may we see the quality KK that was on show tonight. Woryna seems like a spirited little rider and definitely a better prospect than Jamrog was. It's a shame our squad isn't built to carry him better though, we really are asking too much of him I think. In years gone by he'd have been a decent reserve option. King looked so down on power and I just hope he gets it sorted quickly. Need 7-8 points a meeting from him. More than other riders, he seemed to be spinning up badly coming wide around turn 4. Bates looked good though, another one in the Garrity mould for his enthusiasm too!
  9. Think it was mentioned in the Speedway Star last week that Zengota's been contacted/is a no go. Yet on the same page was mentioned in the Swindon column as being interested in a UK/Swindon return.
  10. How on earth did Swiderski's average get so low?! I don't remember him doing that badly at any point in his EL career. If Pedersen rides to anything like he did before last season Lakeside could be a dark horse this year.
  11. Oh dear, learnt nothing from Jamrog last season then. Still, should give Sarj the chance to step up into the main body of the team. Good to know I can look forward to supporting another nailed on wooden spoon winning team once the Ice Hockey season is over. * Just to add, even Troy Batchelor would have been a better signing. Nothing more to say than that really.
  12. On paper KK's an excellent signing for us, in reality it's going to be a bumpy ride following his exploits for us over the season. Maybe some of Bomber and Garrity's determination will rub off on him! The final signing's an intriguing one with so many points left and no more heat leaders to choose from. Clinging to the hope that Larsen's been missed off 'the list', failing that Thorsell would be great too if he's classed as a second string.
  13. Glad that King's back for next season, blew hot and cold a bit this year but on his day can beat pretty much anyone in the EL. Importantly in my opinion, he is one of the good guys of British Speedway too. I remember the Lakeside 'B' meeting at Brandon I think it was, when the riders did the post match parade, a few riders walked up and down the home straight grandstand (I think one rider didn't didn't join in at all), a few went a short way around turn 1 to greet the fans, Danny King went above and beyond the call of duty and went all the way round to the back straight (even though there were hardly any fans left when he go there!), top man.
  14. Yep. I've made the trip to Lakeside from Coventry on a Friday after work. Just have to have a plan B and even C to avoid the worst of the traffic! Roads are overcrowded every night in the week.
  15. I'm surprised more hasn't been said about Rosco's comments in the SS last week. I don't remember him mentionining amalgamation but a move to a Friday race night across the EL is, in my opinion, the single, best thing that could possibly happen to try and grow the sport again. All tracks would see a boost in away support and I'm sure many more famillies would be interested in going along.
  16. Has the Butts Park Arena (Coventry Rugby) ever been officially ruled out as a future home for the Bees? Not sure of the current pitch size and whether a track could fit but driving past it looks pretty much ideal for somewhere to move the Speedway to.
  17. I'd rather us run with a 3 point young Brit all season than go with him! Options don't immediately look great, perhaps Larsen could be tempted to come back? Would be happy with that in the absence of any obvious out and out number ones.
  18. Pretty poor taste from Rosco, although at least he's apologised. Didn't hear him piping up during the ridiculous charade of guess the Swindon no. 1 earlier this season though. I actually had sympathy for Swindon on that occasion and could see it was right (and common sense for the paying fan) that they continued to be allowed some sort of decent cover in that position while Miedzinksi/Kildemand weren't available for whatever reason. Not sure if Rosco watches the GP's now he doesn't follow Leigh Adams or Bomber around, but if he does then surely he will have noticed Zagar didn't seem to be at his best on Saturday.
  19. Congratulations to the Aces on making the play offs, one of the feel good stories of the season for me.
  20. Poole will be mad not to pick us in the play offs when they finish top. The Bees management will trot out the easy excuses about injury but the fact is the current team isn't good enough. Amazingly the crowd looked good tonight. Time for the management to reward that support by getting the team in competitive shape for the play offs. The Robson situation is getting ridiculous.
  21. Good meeting last night and a good crowd too. King's Lynn are nearly always good visitors to Brandon and look forward to our matches against the Stars. Much like last year though, we just about had enough to beat them with 5 riders Remember 'draft rider guestgate'?! Kylmakorpi once again making the difference for us, along with Garrity's latest heroics at reserve. He didn't look a happy camper walking off track after heat 11 though. Couldn't tell if he was just annoyed at his bike trouble or for being put in the race in the first place with him out in heat 12 straight after. The heat 11 result made all the difference though with some great team riding from the in form Bomber. Good to see some sidecars back on the Brandon track, really miss their 2nd halves! I remember the centre green antics well from them and no surprise that they had to clear the track staff to the outside of the track. Fingers crossed that Sarj can get his mojo back soon, nice to see the crowd aren't getting on the back of perhaps our secret weapon for the last year and a half. Agree that a change is needed at No. 2 though with so many points to play with. It could make all the difference for the run in.
  22. Just started watching, is the delay really for bad weather? Looks sunny in the background of the studio and pretty sure the water truck's doing laps of the track?
  23. The look on Nigel and Kelvin's faces when they see the love for Darcy would be priceless!
  24. That's what makes the ruling seem so petty and so typically British Speedway. Absolutely no thought or consideration about improving the sport from previous mistakes and looking at the wider issues, just the usual bury their heads in the sand and coin the easy money out of Coventry.
