  2. Well done to the Danes on their win, their manager must be relieved and slightly smug I should think, given the success of his bold move to bring the youngsters in! Thanks to all the riders too who have once again put on a great show for world cup week. Sounds like the Malilla track staff deserve credit too for getting the track in decent condition. It would be nice if BSI and the FIM left the riders to it though without adding stupid rules which near enough everybody hates. The racing the riders put on is enough of a spectacle without having to stick with the Joker rule. At the very least it should only be available at 10 points down, ideally it would be scrapped, even just for the final, as every team at that stage should be good enough to not need it! If it stays then may I recommend Stuart Hall or Keith Chegwin as centregreen presenter or tv commentator in keeping with the 'It's a Knockout' sillyness of the SWC! I don't blame Pedersen and the others for playing games to try and 'dodge' the joker, yes it's naughty, yes it's possibly dangerous, but if the rules make it an attractive option to them then that's what will happen, the blame is solely with the rule makers. Couldn't believe it when Paul Bellamy said Prague was on the cards for next years final, can't see it being anything other than a disaster, especially if the Czechs are seeded to the final. A poor track, with a poor lineup and most likely a poor crowd, doesn't sound like a good way to display one of the best competitions the sport has to offer! Would be a great shame after the good work BSI have done to improve the image of the sport at the top level.
  3. Commiserations to everyone who, like me, had Walasek as one of their picks for Event 1, what a let down!

  5. Was reading a translated story about Rzeszow on Sportowfakty a few weeks ago where I was rather shocked at the translation of Marta Poltorak's (club owner) surname, I'm sure she didn't deserve the swear word that her name was translated to! That remains the most outrageous name translation I have found so far!

  7. Well done to Crumpy on his first win for a long time, has to be good for the championship, although I was cheering for Greg and Bomber in the final so was a bit disappointed neither of them could get close to winning the final. A good GP though with some good races. As for Nicki Pedersen, well he proved why he will never win a Danish GP, he runs a last place after two good wins and then loses his cool for the rest of the meeting, the pantomime villain struck again tonight. Thought Holder was right to be excluded for taking Bjarne down, but I think Nicki should have been the one to go in the first of the semi final crashes, Holder had got in front down the straight and Pedersen couldn't handle it when Holder stood his ground. Nicki's luck ran out in the re-run though.
  8. How on earth is Nermark back in the re-run?! Not the first time i've seen him crash into someone and get let off though!
  9. I can hear something but can't see anything of the stream
  10. Thomas H Jonasson Nicki Pedersen Jason Crump Chris Harris
  11. Fantastic news for Auty and British speedway, best of luck to him. Surprised it's Bydgoszcz that have given him a chance with their largely Polish side, it's hard to see where Auty would be given his chance in that team. Would have expected one of the other clubs with more foreign riders competing for team places to have given him an opportunity. Wonder if Eddie Kennett will be given another chance in Poland this season?
  12. Wroclaw are looking pretty useful, there could be an upset on the cards!
  13. Lee Richardson didn't sound too popular with the home fans after that race!
  14. Congratulations to Greg! I missed his first world championship as it was a few years later when I got into speedway as a kid. Fortunately I became a Coventry supporter at a time when I was lucky enough to see him ride week in, week out for the Bees, he instantly became my family's favourite rider and a childhood hero to me! I've spent the last 11 years watching the GPs cheering Greg on in particular and often thought he'd maybe just missed out on his chance to become champion again, but finally, he's proved me wrong and he's done it again at last! Greg Hancock 2X World Champion!
  15. Did you not see him trying to?! Pretty sure he was thinking about it but realised he had too much room and thought it would look too obvious! Good on Zagar though, great rider and liked his response to Nicki's strop after the race!
  16. What a ride from Vaculik! It's a shame we don't get to see him in the Elite League
  17. I doubt it given Boycey's tone when he was being interviewed and was talking about Ryan's no show at practice
  18. I found the Kelvin and moley act quite cringy too, but it's actually starting to grow on me! It's quite funny listening to all the different scenarios that Kelvin finds to give moley a mention, you've got to admire Kelvins persistence with it really! I don't really know why some people are slating Charlie, I guess she does ask some pretty silly questions (especially the "how much would this mean?" question!), but in fariness most interviewers would ask questions like that. I thought she did a decent job of presenting tonight and she certainly shows plenty of cheer and enthusiasm.
  19. What a great meeting, the world cup never disappoints! Great to see King do so well, sharp gating and good speed, just what the Brits will need in Poland, so he surely has to be worth sticking with for thursday. Was interesting to watch Conda for the slovenians learn so quickly tonight, as an under 21 rider i'm sure he'll be snapped up by a team over here in the near future! With Rico joining the team for the raceoff I think GB might put up a good fight, especially if the danes are still patched up, i think GB could give Sweden a good battle too, you get the impression that they struggle a bit on the big stage too.
  20. I have to agree with that opinion of zorro! Although my reason for it is only because of the misery and frustration he caused me when he demolished the Bees on numerous occasions around Brandon last season! It's a great shame that Zagar hasn't qualified for this meeting, i just hope the authorities ignore this and give him a wild card place next season anyway. I think Miedzinski could be one to watch, like Lukas Dryml, he seems to be an expert at these sort of meetings. Although i'm not really a big Hampel fan, i hope out of that lineup that he qualifies as i think he deserves to be a gp rider, he's shown on many occasions in the gp that he's capable of doing well.
  21. I think that team selection is a good one. I think it's the right move to leave Nicholls out, the world cup break may well do him some good and help him sort his form out, atleast it will be a whole week where his performances won't be in the spotlight for one reason or another. I'm surprised to see Rico left out, i've never really been a fan of his in the past but he seems to be doing quite well of late and has a good record in the world cup, hopefully he'll be included should GB get through to the Polish rounds. It's refreshing to see some new riders in the team though, and it's mostly riders who have upped their game this season and importantly are probably the riders with the most confidence. I think it could work well, afterall 2005 was another year when the 'youngsters' got a chance (Harris and Stead) and i thought there was a real feeling of excitment at Swindon that day seeing those two do a pretty good job on their debut, hopefully the event at Peterborough will be the same.
  22. With the report on the lakeside website about AJ taking a break until July 23rd against coventry, could this mean that he won't be in the swedish world cup team anymore? I hope that's not the case because it would be a much better meeting if sweden are at full strength
