What a joke ruling from the SCB and stinks of penny pinching to me. I assume the £3000 will at least be going to riders benevolent fund? Perhaps Sky should be paying into it too in the aftermath of that meeting, given that they were so keen to get the meeting on and completed in those conditions?

Belle Vue V Lakeside Mon 6th July
JamieE replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Disgraceful from all involved in the call off! A decision based on common sense, which protects rider safety and stops fans wasting money on going along to watch a poor product, in what would just be a bad advert for speedway anyway. Who do these decision makers think they are?! Making such reasonable, logical decisions. Us tv viewers demand live speedway as scheduled whatever the weather. Time to cancel my subscription! -
Coventry Bees V Belle Vue Friday 26th June

Great meeting, probably the most compelling of the season for me. Some great racing between 2 good teams and I wouldn't have begrudged the Aces a draw for their efforts. No idea why Garrity was excluded from heat 12? Looked nowhere near Worrall from where I was on the backstraight. Worrall just succumbed to the pressure. And a race winning time for an awarded race, what's that all about?! Ridiculous. Having said that, I thought there were grounds to exclude Garrity from heat 13, maybe the referee felt an even up call was needed in light of heat 12? A typical Zagar masterclass for most of the meeting. Couldn't understand the gate staff and crowd shouting at him to stay on track after the heat 15 false start though? There's no rule about that is there? As long as the 2 minutes goes straight on and he's at the tapes by then, surely he's entitled to head off track? Stupid of Zagar to react to the crowd after the race though, a rider of his class should rise above some crowd heckling and not be gesturing to the crowd in the way he was. Deserves a fine in my opinion, much of a fan of his as I am. Great guests for both teams tonight, the Andersen situation needs sorting though. -
Strange position the Wolves seem to be in now after what seemed to be a promising start to the season for you guys. Karlsson in the middle order must have played its part in that though.

Why are they to quote Nigel "dodging the rain"?! Why not just race through it? It was no big deal at Brandon a few weeks ago in far worse than this. The precedent's been set, so what's the problem?

Just as long as this goes to heat 10 for a result, you know, for the best interests of the fans and the sport

Really happy for the Swedes, well done to them! Glad I didn't pile money on Denmark to win now! -
Swc Final 2015

Wrong call on both occasions in my opinion, Pawlicki seems to have a style which just invites that contact. The ref had no choice on the second one after excluding Nicki the first time though. -

Bet all concerned with the Brandon fiasco are completely dumbfounded by the decision to call it off tonight. Speedway in protecting its credibility shocker this evening! -
I was there too unfortunately and felt pretty miserable that night as well. Would have been quite happy for that meeting to be called off early and re-staged for a better evening, said so at the time.

As one of the mugs who paid £18 to attend the meeting, I can assure you I didn't feel I got value for money just for "getting at least 10 heats in". What you had there was the worst scenario for all parties pretty much, fans getting ripped off and questionable rider safety after a certain point of the meeting. Speaking as a fan, I would only feel I had got my money's worth if the meeting had been called off and re-staged another night in better conditions, or if the attitude was to "get at least 10 heats in", then to be compensated accordingly for not getting full value for money.

Leicester V Coventry 9th May 2015
JamieE replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Another enjoyable visit to Leicester and fair play to the Lions keeping it close with their patched up team. Good speech by Hemsley I thought for the Lions supporters before the meeting and somewhat more diplomatic in his comments than the loose cannon that is Norrie Allan! Can't understand why riders aren't queueing up to ride for him?! Shame Bees couldn't get all 4 points but keeps us in a commanding position going into the break. Get the feeling it's not a particularly good track for Robson, King and even Harris, who worked hard for his points tonight. -
Coventry V Lakeside 4th May 2015
JamieE replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think you're assuming there is a DJ! Given how terrible/non existent the presentation has been at Brandon this season, I've convinced myself that someone just turns up each week, puts a CD in and probably just gets David Hammond (who I am certainly not getting at here) to hit play and stop as and when he remembers throughout the meeting. You get the same song play in its entirety between heats for about 4 heats at a time! (If you're lucky, the rest of the time it's just silence!) Such a petty issue that fans really shouldn't have to need to moan about, it should just be taken care of. When Chris Simpson was let go then surely an adequate replacement should at least have been sorted once that was the case? A silly niggle that takes away slightly from the very good team we have on track this season. -
Lakeside V Coventry Friday 1/5/15
JamieE replied to kingbee's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
My first visit to the Raceway and glad I went! I thought Lakeside were a bit unlucky as they had the star riders of the night in my opinion. But I'll certainly take the good fortune and smash and grab that came the Bees way tonight. I thought Brandon could feel flat at times but even with our pretty poor presentation this year, it's got a much better atmosphere than Lakeside had tonight. The track provided some good races though, just the big rut out of turn 2 that was causing some trouble. Feel for Bech as he's clearly out of sorts with no confidence, he said as much in an article recently. Never really understood the hype about him but he's a much better rider than he's showing. -
Leicester V Coventry Sat 4th April

Went to Leicester more in hope than expectation of a decent Bees showing. What a great performance by each and every one of them though, rock solid throughout the whole team. Really feared a bit of a tonking with Schlein guesting as second string but he was merely just doing Pedersen's job for him! Watching Kylmakorpi practically 'longtracking' it around BP was a joy to behold! Can see why he was considered a Leicester specialist last year now. I thought the Bees management were playing a dangerous game leaving the steady pair of hands of Bomber out of heat 15 but fair play, JK and Andersen shot from the tapes and were gone, perhaps a sign of how well this team is working and talking together? Good on Sarj for beating Wozniak too who looked a fraction of the seemingly well dialled in rider he was in the challenge meeting a few weeks ago. Good win for us tonight but with Doyle leading the way at the top and Auty having the reserve races mostly to himself I'm sure Leicester won't be losing many at home this season. Got a lot of respect for Doyle as a rider but was it just me who thought it sounded like he was having an unnecessary dig at Coventry at the end with some comment that sounded like "At least we put a meeting on tonight unlike Coventry last night"? I could have just misheard or taken it the wrong way but it sounded like he genuinely thought Coventry let people down by calling Friday night off, as if they could have done more to get it on! If so, did he not see the weather we had on Friday evening?! -

I thought I saw some crazy refereeing at Brandon last night but blimey, this referee just took bizarre reffing to a new level. Stupidly dangerous decision not to put the red lights on, he should be taken to task for that. Feel a bit for Berntzon even though he could probably have got up, don't blame him for staying down when Doyle was clearly well out of shape and should arguably have been excluded. -

I've seen some horrible crashes in my 15 years of watching speedway but never one that bad I don't think, truly horrible and even worse on the slow motion replay, hope they don't show that again. Best wishes to both riders involved for a speedy recovery and hope Wethers isn't badly hurt. Thank goodness he didn't appear to completely clip that menacing wooden fence on the other side of the airfence. Such a shame as it really takes the shine off one of the most impressive comebacks I've seen in speedway from the Monarchs tonight.
