That is at least a year up the line; next season will be in the NL. As far as Swindon is concerned, their home meetings will be on Mondays and Thursdays.

Use of Stadium/Speedway and it’s failing to win support
*JJ replied to Hawk127's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Not really true ... -
Actually, camels are highly evolved and very useful ...
-
Why should they ? All they have to do is wait until the council backs down and grants planning permission: as happened with Dudley Wood Road stadium. And who is going to pay for this new stadium?
-
But what does this (and your previous post) mean? What exactly are you proposing?
-
Also to be fair ... one of several.
-
Well, this would certainly clear out the oldies, but whether it would encourage kids is another thing.
-
Except that they never started at Birmingham: Smith came from Australia, Zach from junior speedway, JPB from Buxton, Hume from Rye House, Bacon from Mildenhall etc. There is plenty of time after NL meetings for some practice or training.
-
There isn't a 'dearth of new talent', but there is a dearth of encouragement and help for them. I was told recently by a NL promoter that his set-up was a commercial organisation and didn't do training. What he meant was that he couldn't be bothered; and he was hardly alone in this.
-
Eh? In Birmingham, the matches run much more quickly in the NL than they used to in the PL/EL days.
-
There is now a thread in the National League section for you lot to whine in. Coventry in the Premiership is dead.
-
Did for BV ... but Coventry dropped out because their stadium was not available.
-
Having just read the last three pages, talk about cutting off your noses to spite your faces! Coventry speedway if finished and serve you right. NL speedway (which is NOT 'wobblers') has worked perfectly well at Birmingham, Cradley and Eastbourne.
-
You'd have to get rid of some of the promoters as well, if what I hear is true.
-
You're so right ...
-
That is NL. For the DL, there is no travelling allowance, no fuel, no oil, no tyres, no prize money, no nothing. And quite often no racing if the main match drags on too long, or if the promoter can't be bothered. Although actually, you occaisionally get something; at Somerset this year, we got a can of methanol. And a couple of years ago, the rider got £20 expenses, which I confiscated, as it cost me £40 or thereabouts in diesel to get there.
-
Well said, Sings; I can confirm that all of this is only too true!
-
Well, if anyone wants to sponsor fuel (or oil, which is expensive) there are any number of Development League riders out there who would be grateful! As they don't get paid at all.
-
They are the ones who do all of the moaning!

Tony Mole Farewell Meeting Wed October 11th
*JJ replied to guitar_art's topic in National League Speedway
Because of his age: he is about 84! -
There is an amateur meeting at Leicester next Sunday, midday. You could go and see that, to see what goes on; but if you want to take part, and in most practice sessions, you will need your own equipment.
-
Most unlikely; the CH fans don't like Perry Barr, and the Birmingham fans won't go to see Cradley. As for Horton: I have heard that Tony Mole won't speak to him. The rumours I have heard is that Dean is right, but I hope that sanity breaks out and that they will promote Birmingham Brummies.

Birmingham Brummies 2017 Hat Trick
*JJ replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in National League Speedway
If Mick Horton does take over Perry Barr, he would be insane to call it Coventry (or Cradley). He would lose all of the Brummies supporters (including me) without the Coventry supporters wanting to go all that way. -
I saw Drew Kemp at an amateur meeting a couple of years ago; it struck us straight away that he was mega-talented.

No Aussies In British Speedway 2018
*JJ replied to rocketman77's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Considering all that Australians have done for British speedway over the years, this post is remarkably ungrateful. And stupid.- 99 replies
