  1. Still waiting on last week's edition. Sat in some sorting office somewhere I'm sure..
  2. Absolutely! That is something that should have been put in places yeara ago.. There have been way too many speedway riders involved in these type of tragic events, both during and after their racing careers over the years.
  3. Another clear and concise BSPA press release!
  4. http://wwosbackup.proboards.com/thread/2442/nigel-rackett http://wwosbackup.proboards.com/thread/968/mark-fordham
  5. 6th April 1974 Swindon 40-38 Ipswich M.Ashby, Louis, Leigh, Nygren. Mike Keen was injured in a spill with Billy Sanders in heat 3. The meeting saw what became the traditional Martin Ashby 12-point maximum.
  6. Not sure why there's so much surpruse that Lawson and Heeps were pants last night. Both have appalling records at Swindon.
  7. Certainly the older data is league matches only.. More recent seasons contain other official competitions.

  9. Speedway Star reported an eye injury sustained in Poland. Replacement Ryszard Fabiszewski did not arrive, hence the reserves covered the rides on the number one slot.

  12. Young Dane and former Somerset rider Jonas Jeppesen has been in decent form of late. Won the u-21 semi that Robert Lambert was in recently.
  13. Whilst it's easy to.point at Lampart and the reserves, Doyle not winning a race all night is equally as significant.
  14. Fantastic speedway rider but an utterly dreadful human being. Way too much ego and opinion without even an average intellect with which to deliver it Traits which are sadly common in many modern day riders and promoters alike.
  15. Not sure the work on the track changes the new stadium position one iota. Internal work within the existing stadium doesn't prove Gaming International's commitment to build anything.
  16. A few more 'legends' Johannes Fransden Thomas Ravn Nano Righetto Finn Jensen (Eastbourne) Christoph Betzl Markku Helminen Frits Koppe Toni Pilotto Jorgen Hultgren Torben Hansen Csaba Hell
  17. Three more pretty obscure ones were: Wieslaw Patynek Ernst Bogh Heinrich Sprenger
  18. Swindon signed him in 1983 but he had a car accident before joining and never rode. Given his record at Leicester and Hackney, he would have fitted well into our team that season!!
  19. Bit of a cheat really as he rode for Sheffield in 1993, so not in the period mentioned initially. He was pretty pants though... I always had a soft spot for Eastbourne in their early BL days as they had a conveyer-belt of untried foreigners in that period.
  20. The less than adequate foreign riders were one of my favourite parts of the sport back then. The onset of the Internet etc has sadly taken that mystique away. A few beauts to be going on with are: Hans Albert Klinge Flemming Rasmussen Trond Skretting Allan Fog Lennart Bengtsson Henk Steman Helge Langli Eddie Davidsson Piet Seur Patrice Blondy Stefan Deser Peo Gudmundsson Lars Eriksson Peter Wurterle Max Schollhorn Jurgen Hehlert Stein Roar Pedersen
  21. Would that have been in 1986? http://wwosbackup.proboards.com/thread/10705/17th-1986 That was a Sunday meeting...
