Belle Vue Vs Wolves, Grand Final 2nd Leg, 5/10/16...

First speedway meeting for a very long time that I've enjoyed watching. Amazing what a difference it makes when riders give a toss. -

Cook simply going too slow... -
He missed out on 3 league wins. Rode for Halifax in 1965 and joined Swindon in 1966 - Halifax won the league in 1966. Left Swindon in 1967 to join Coventry - Swindon won the league in 1967. Returned to Swindon in 1968 - Coventry won the league in 1968!!

The Pzms New Two Team Rule.

Fair play to the Poles. They know they have the best hand to play and that riders won't jeopardise the top dollar they get there. As regards legality, how is this any different to any other contractor agreement where it's stipulated they can't provide their services elsewhere? Simply conflict of interests surely? Wouldn't get this issue if speedway was a proper team sport with one rider, one club . -

Fair play to Poole, pulled another one out of the bag. Swindon's season has drifted to the point that play offs are on a knife-edge, Poole never dither and their results say it all.
-
The point referred to Morton as World Champion. He never got near winning a World Individual Final and had an average record at best. Many other riders can claim Pairs or WTC wins without being anywhere near top notch at an individual level.
-
Pretty obvious, he couldn't gate for toffee. Only an average rider at world level.

Drugs n speedway riders is nothing new.

Swindon 2016 - A New Era Starts...we Thought..

Great, absolutely delighted he scored so well for a play-off rival. Bloody stupid sport! -
What a waste of time that statement is. The kid really is either ill-advised or a complete idiot. World Champion and continually turning his back on anything to do with UK speedway when it needs him most.
-
Attention seeking again. Must be time for another tattoo.

Can't see why people have an issue with this - it's a no brainer. Yes, Woffinden is using British speedway as he chooses, but so do virtually all international standard riders - and some that aren't!! I've little or no interest in watching speedway these days but this can only help boost interest and attendances for the latter part of the season.
-
Spot on. Hardly anyone watched the old second halves and most of the riders nowadays would be away down the road instead of riding.

I think he would have turned out ok, given time and luck with injury. He only actually had one ride at home in a league match.

Raba went on to become one of Poland's top riders in the 80's. Rode in a World Team Cup Final and finished 2nd in Polish Championship.
-
Let's face it - a fair proportion of modern day riders are hardly University Challenge material. The Speedway Star pen picture type articles were full of riders saying how they struggled at school. Probably explains why so many have no comprehension of how their conduct or attitude adversely impacts the sport in the UK.

He's simply not very bright is he?
-
Absolutely!! Embarrassing.

The fatality records of Hackney and King's Lynn would suggest they were more dangerous than most.

Just watched it on You Tube. Idea is good, but only if it's more challenging than this was. Very sanitised and nowhere near enough discussion about the big issues. I really hate these events where questions are vetted; my employer does exactly the same thing at its cascades. -
Should Ex Riders Get Into Speedway Free?
frigbo replied to Grachan's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Not necessarily, especially in recent mercenary times. Perhaps a length of service to one club type measure; say 5 years maybe? Having said that, speedway has always been awash with freeloaders that have never ridden or worked for the clubs.
