Teromaafan
The Lions cannot continue with R/R for much longer. They can cover for Becker at home, but he has scored decent points away from home and that’s where he will be missed when other riders inevitably have off nights. Off nights are one thing but when you are carrying your RS, there is even less room for error. Not sure what the situation is with Gilkes’ injury but he is the only RS we have had that looks capable of scoring a point home or away. The new averages will be out soon and it is possible that Becker could slip to third in the averages. In terms of eligibility for R/R rides, that could mean Fricke’s extra ride having to be taken by one of the reserves. Let’s not go there. Whilst I threw the Nick Morris hat into the ring in a previous post, it doesn’t necessarily mean I’m a big fan of his, but replacement options are extremely limited and the Lions might have to consider offering an olive branch and taking a punt with him.

Morris would be to much of a risk, as he not ridden competitively for 2 years. I see no other suitable available rider. Only guest options were Rowe, Kerr, Zagar, Wright or Janowski. 1 was taken, 2 commute so unlikely to take a guest booking which leave Kerr and Wright and I think the Management at Leicester would hope that RR (which I think scored 6) would have outscored any guest. I can see Leicester doing the rest of the season with RR and the odd guest away from home if a UK based track specialist is available. They did win the league in 2019 with a similar strategy. Previous examples have been the rider must return or be replaced, although that would be after the cut-off date. They'd probably only be left with 75% guests if he didn't return? Depends on the meeting. For more years than I care to remember the governing body have been lenient when riders are chasing world championship individual glory, often making use of the column inches that follow with the true grit stories. The fans also rally around such riders. If he was to ride in a foreign league, completes that fixture and does not aggravate his injuries then action should quite rightly be taken. I hope he returns, especially if we end up against them in the play offs as two fit teams would be a great spectacle as our A fixtures demonstrated.
