I totally agree Dean I can't believe that clubs and sponsors allow riders to engage in other dangerous sports ,the nature of the beasts makes them inclined  push the limits whatever they do .

I don’t believe anyone should be stopped from doing any other sport/activity by a club or anyone, everyone should be free to self regulate the danger to themselves, over the years I’ve competed in or had a go at numerous “dangerous” activities and have led by some people’s reckoning to be a pretty reckless life but as a I always say to my Mrs I’ve made it this far and I will probably be taken out by tripping over my slippers

I will probably be taken out by tripping over my slippers

The thought of watching Cyril Jones bouncing down the grass tracks around the country, going end over end through the ropes, and getting up and walking away, now sadly in a wheelchair after falling down the stairs in the dark a number of years ago !

Yes Cyril lives near to me and still has his love of bikes, he buys parts off me a couple of times a year and just shows life itself is a risk, you don’t have to race bikes to suffer life changing injuries

Last had a chat with him at Ledbury grass track, still has his sense of humour though !

I well remember him singing the night away in the Bonanza scramble/trial/grasstrack marquee especially his favourite song, "The hole in the elephant's bottom"

Raymond Crooke - The Hole in the Elephant's Bottom lyrics
