WookieboyDon
The front cover of this week's Speedway Star has just been released. One of the headlines is 'Wimbledon...New hope for Dons revival.' MUST. STAY. CALM. My heart is racing just thinking that this could happen. I never thought I would potentially see us return in my lifetime, and tomorrow can't come soon enough to read about it.

I used to live in Leatherhead for a while (1980's) and watched the Dons most weeks, but regular speedway back in London, does sound unlikely, but would love to be proved wrong!
Ray Stadia
I do wonder, if this is what it is about? I hope I'm wrong. 😟

Richspeedway
Just been reading it in the Star and it does sound promising, though early days, but be great to see Wimbledon back. About where it will be it says: "They have come up with a suitable site where there is already a go-kart track and enough spare land to accommodate a speedway venue as well as other added attractions, including BMX course and a circuit for model car racing which is a favourite sporting pastime of a potential sponsor"

The only other place I can think of which does have additional land is where Traq Motor Racing go-karts are on the Mitcham/Croydon border on Beddington Lane. Not only does it have go-karts but a motocross track as well.

And it's mainly industrial round there.

secsy1
This could be potentially the best thing to happen in British Speedway this year, if a return is possible any time in the future. Good luck to John and Jon in their efforts to achieve this and I am sure it will be heavily supported by all speedway fans around the world.
salty
Fingers crossed this works out. Beddington Lane would be my bet. Surbiton raceway didn’t exist when I lived there about 35 years ago. Looks adjacent to the Kingston Uni sports fields.

Very little housing in the immediate area. Plenty of waste land but Sutton Council is discussing other waste refuse sites with Viridor although they will claim theat is not the case. Problem will be Viridor / Suez have deep pockets + Council has a history of accepting donations for Councillors favourite charities.
