The Rider with the best style of riding.

Recommended Posts

I was at Rye House when Andrew Silver was riding for them in his later years & on the other side was Gary Havelock. It was fantastic to watch the two of them switching lines in the turn standing the bike up. Of course they were both masters of throttle control & finding the best from their machines on the surface provided.

Today we have many riders who are just throttle jockey's & ride flat out until they run out of talent

My favourite rider of that time

Nothing too extravagant just a very tidy style on a bike

Interesting topic and a thought provoking subject, @Youhave2minutes.

Lots of great suggestions, but given you’ve asked for only one, I’m going to go for Brian Andersen, former Coventry Bees’ captain and Danish international.

A classy rider who I imagine looked as relaxed sitting in an armchair as he did on a speedway bike. He made it look easy.

EDIT If I recall correctly, he won the British GP at Odsal in…

He rode for Newcastle for a few meetings after he won the u21 title then joined Coventry.

Villads Nagel has a remarkable style. Probably the most all-action style I’ve seen at Ashfield. He’s looking under his handlebars with his right leg in the air coming off corners.

It’s cost him a few times, but with experience, he’ll have more control.

Andrew Silver.Instantly recognisable.I was walking past the pits at rye house when he came out for a practice skid before the one season he had circa 2009? I hadn't seen him ride since he was at Swindon and clocked him straight away

absolutely agree he was very distinctly stylish on the bike - leg trailer without equal and looked spectacular in full flow.

In terms of foot forward then Leigh Adams was super smooth and also Malcolm Simmonds - he was well into his 40s when he did that half season at Arena in 1989 but the first time i saw him ride i thought wow he is super smooth and stylish.

Havvy was another with a style i really liked - Troy Pratt also reminded me of a lesser Andrew i.e. less of a leg trailer.

Leigh Lanham was also a smooth inside line rider with a great style.
