Speedway on tv. Who do we look to now?

So the next obvious questions to follow your 'younger audience' statement is "what would attract a younger audience to attend regularly"?

And "what age is a 'younger audience'?

I cannot imagine a younger audience being incentivised to attend if they are getting easy access to full meetings on mainstream TV, Streaming or You-Tube!  There has to be abetter chance of them being attracted to watch a short, sharp 'highlights' package involving some sort of jeopardy and gladiatorial battles (and no I don't mean Plymouth).

I have always thought it strange that anyone still at school isn't allowed in for free...

The Aces (I think), let U12's in for free on the back straight, which is a good idea...

However, just as they become more interested and nuanced in the sport the person who takes them now has to pay for them...

Just at a time too when they start going out with their mates, and going somewhere (by yourself), that your Dad and Grandad attends suddenly becomes "very uncool"..

Let  all school kids in for free, let them bring their mates for free, and let them "sod off" by themselves if they so wish...

Some will never become "paying punters" but some will, and some of those will be "mates" who never attended Speedway, until their mate who did, took them..

These "teens" are not there now in any numbers worth a mention, so let them in for nothing as you have nothing to lose, but maybe something longer term to gain...

It is barmy that at somewhere like the NSS (particularly on TV), swathes of seats and  terracing lie empty when thousands of kids attend local schools and play in local sports leagues...

One of the positives of internet purchasing is that you gauge well in advance as to what your ticket sales will be like on the night, as the "walk up and pay on the gate people" will have an average number too...

Therefore if your capacity is 2000 more than you expect to turn up, flood the local schools, kids groups, sports teams etc etc with free tickets...

They, and their parents/guardians, will not be turning up to pay anyway, so nothing to lose...

And if the odd few parents, who do actually attend, get a free ticket then its a small price to pay to give the optics out that you are a "popular sport"...

People are very much sheeplike and get easily led by seeing a "big crowd", and just automatically latch on to it, and follow it....

The opposite also is true, ie. If it looks unpopular, it must be unpopular, and something I won't be interested in following...

How many 5 or 10 year growth plans have these Amateur's at BSPA tried too implement with total failure.

None. The largest range they've ever worked to in recent years is a 3yr plan. At that, in the main, they've folded after a season.

The issue is always the 'self importance' of the promoters. Their minds can't see past 12 months. Their interest is not about the sport overall, but only the functionality of the club they're running.

Perhaps Dazn sports?

They do offer price structures tailored to individual sports rather than a singular monthly subscription, but the question is always the same. How would that attract NEW fans to the sport it desperately needs??

True. However someone needs to look after the present fans, who do to high costs of travelling like to keep in touch with their team on there travels

People need to stop seeing TV coverage as a tool to promote the sport. If that’s the aim then the promoters should take out some prime time advertising on television. The days of flicking through the channels and stumbling upon something are long gone. There are too many channels and streaming options.

Television companies aren’t going to give out a deal to help push speedway to the masses. They want something that is established and will bring eyes to their channel. The promoters need to make the sport an attractive proposition for a broadcaster to take an interest not expect a TV deal and for that TV deal to suddenly attract fans through the gates of tracks.

100%, hence why in a previous post I'd said that the best thing British Speedway could do is have whole meetings streamed for free to everyone via YouTube. Have the meetings live to members only & release it to the public a week later.

As you said, British Speedway doesn't have the pull to be 'Mainstream'. YouTube is THE only way forward for this sport over the next decade.

I would be surprised if DAZN were to take on British Speedway as like Premier sports their business model is to take other broadcasters coverage and then broadcast it in the UK. The only current exception to this is Boxing coverage which is produced on house but again has a long list of broadcasters taking their feed

Should have proper highlights packages for every meeting. Would be 20-25 minutes. Would need to look professional with proper graphics and commentary, but IMO this is the only way you are going to get new viewers. Maybe even the creation of some introduction videos explaining the rules on the channel would help to get new viewers as well. There should also be some short form content on TikTok/Instagram regularly for top 5 heats of the week, best overtakes, etc.

On a scale of 1-10 how would you rate the chances of any deal getting over the line Flagrag ? 1 being near zero
