Oh dear so sad to read this. Bob was my first ever speedway hero when as a Comet in 1970 he used to thrill the large Derwent Park crowds with his overtaking skill. RIP Bob forever remembered.

RS50
Great rider. Started speedway relatively late, but came through Sheffield second team, to be a top heat leader in the top division.

Joined Comets from Sheffield second team (Sheffield Cubs) in 1970 - fans at Workington loved him. salty
Very fondly remembered by Cradley fans as well. Spent his final British season at Dudley Wood in 1977 and was a very popular and successful cog in the first Dan McCormick team. martinmauger
Always very sad when speedway loses one, a wee bit before my time but a very under-rated rider. RIP Bob.... Edited January 22 by martinmauger spelling
naffer
Very sad, came to the Bees when we were rubbish. He rode really well for the bees for one season before the Olsen era. Always a pleasure to watch race. Â RIP

heathen52
Only just read this, RIP Bob, he spent something of an Indian summer with the Heathens he came as someone who could pick up an odd point or two having suffered from injuries which affected his points scoring, by the end of the 1977 season he was again capable of beating anyone except the very top riders and was a vital cog in a very good Cradley Heath team, he retired from British speedway at the end of the season, from everyone at Cradley Heath we send our condolences to family and friends.
