Aries
Officials at Foxhall over the weekend apparently surveying the track. Measurements, markings etc. Looking forward to see how this progresses over the winter. Bob Ellis has been track curator for as long as I can remember. I hope he’s not going to just slip away without any acknowledgment from the club. There was a tiny comment at the end of one of the last match reports from Hurry about Bob’s last meeting, but he deserves a proper send off through the official channels for the decades of service he’s given and for very little reward. The likes of Kevin Long got one as did others, Bob should get the same.

If he’s re-assessed at 6 or over, then it would make no sense to make Brennan surplus to requirements and sign Nilsson instead. If he’s in, then we’ve got him on a ringer average. I’ve also heard Nilsson from a couple of people as well BTW.
TTT
The more I think about it, I wouldn't be comfortable with Kemp as a No.4. 1. J. Doyle 8.62 2. P. Castagna 3.65 3. D. King 7.17 4. K. Nilsson 6.00 5. D. Bewley 8.56 6. W. Cairns 3.00 7. V. Foord (RS) = 37.

Mayfield would've spent a lot on Doyle, Bewley and Cairns.

Wouldn’t Kim Nilsson also be reassessed at that figure? 9 minutes ago, TTT said: The more I think about it, I wouldn't be comfortable with Kemp as a No.4. 1. J. Doyle 8.62 2. P. Castagna 3.65 3. D. I know people will say how can a GP rider be on such a figure, but there is nothing in those regulations that I can see that alters an assessed figure by qualifying for the GP series. Only that a rider riding two consecutive seasons would be assessed at 8, which he hasn’t. His old average has long since expired so he’d definitely be on a re-assessed figure. Bagpuss
Those people who know me will appreciate that I'm not looking at this from a 'Lynn v Ippo' perspective, but its pretty bonkers that he Nilsson can come in on a four and a half. He's Swedish Champion, a qualified GP rider and averaged over seven in his last three British seasons (admittedly a decade or so ago). Definitely a loophole and fair play to whoever gets him if anybody.

Not convinced. Depends on how much interest in a said rider. Nilsson maybe a GP Rider but he's not GP standard so his demands would have to be realistic as Clubs can easily sign better riders if he's on a 6.00. Got riders like Ellis, Brennan, Masters, D. Thompson etc. all on lower averages to name a few as well as a couple just above 6.00 like Blodorn and Lidsey.

The pieces of the jigsaw below the top 3 look tricky to put in place with very few options.

Amazing to think that 3 years after Tarasenko signed for Glasgow in the Championship on a 5.00 average (while averaging nearly 8 in the Premiership), we still have loopholes in the average rules. Fair play to Ipswich though, they'd be daft not to sign him. Edited 25 minutes ago by PersonalResponsibility
