Redcar v Glasgow

Recommended Posts

Decent enough meeting on an initially very wet track so gating all important early on. For once the Bears were reasonably consistent throughout with Klindt and Scott outstanding backed up by Edwards ( one spectacular round the fence overtake ) and Allen, even Lambert scored every ride.

Glasgow looked too strong on paper but that’s not how matches are won , Harris a bit off, Kemp not reliable but Rowe was good. Thought Pedersen was good, when he gated, Battye could have been the match winner but for a silly last bend fall and an incompetent team manager under using him.

Strange comments from the departing promoter J.Swales “ this could be the last meeting “……is he not confident at Berwick !

Bears need a reset for 2027 so is the rumoured new co-promoter, as Mrs Swales is staying in post, one of the many ex promoters who are at Redcar most weeks ?…..messers English, Duffill, Kay, Rathbone or even CVS ???

With there being already a co-promoter in sponsor K.Miller how does this all work ?

Going to be an interesting winter for Bears fans.

Very Poor management of the Tigers made it an easier match for the Bears.

Blindingly obvious that Battye needed to replace Hagon in heat 11, but Hodder comes in in heat 8 and therefore Hagon has to stay in 11

Battye scores 5 from 2 finishes, plus a fall when miles ahead and doesn't get any extra rides 😲 should have been in 12

Thanks Cami from all the Bears fans 😊

Don’t you just love a cami curveball….NOT

When it was announced, I did suggest one of those names you mention to my mate standing next to me.  He suggested another of the above names ! One would expect the "new" promoter would be someone with experience (i.e a former or current one). Don't know if Ben (Duffill) would step back in with his BSN commitments and his own business to run, and would Kevin Keay (who sometimes posts on the Forum) step back in? Who knows (apart from Ben and Kevin, of course !!).

How would it work?  Just the same as it does currently, I would think, just a different name as Co-promoter instead of Jamie.

I would just like to add my very best wishes to Jamie for whatever he is going to do in the future.

Who knows, a "fresh face" at Redcar might just be what the club needs (and that is not being detrimental to Jamie).

Having had this post brought to my attention I shall respond.

Firstly thank you for spelling my name right !

Secondly I will definitely NOT be getting involved in any speedway position at the club, I’m happy just being a spectator, thank you.

Thirdly, speedway doesn't need ‘old’ promoters coming back, it needs NEW, FRESH IDEAS to try and get the sport back to the level it used to be at and an independent leadership to sort it out.

Thanks, Kevin.

That would depend on whether the "one over the eight rule" is still a go-er for 2027, as, currently Wright is on 8.90 and Klindt is 8.81. IF the one over the eight rule stays, you can't have both.

Was based on the theory thus ridiculous rule is abolished
