Fozzie4388 Posted yesterday at 03:50 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 03:50 PM Not sure why Sheffield persist with Chris Holder he's past his best and Pickering is a way better rider or is Chris been in the team part of Jack's contract? From memory he left before Brady did, think he broke his collarbone and his average dropped so they replaced him with the intention of bringing him back but it never happened and he went to Sheffield. Think he had had an aborted comeback before that (at reserve!) it was all a bit of a mess. I'd be quite happy to have him back as he was great to watch but not really at number one. He seems the type of character that would thrive at having the extra responsibility of being at 1. Douglas made that jump this year after Fricke left and I think Pickering could do the same. Love watching him.

Pickering had a fall with club owners at the start of the season over money and bridges have not been repaired during the season. When the sale of the club didn’t happen all riders were asked to take a pay cut which they agreed to apart from Pickering However as it was so late in the day he was left with no option but ride for Sheffield unless he wanted to sit out the start of the season and as already without a Polish contract due to asking for too much money from Leszno after a good season the year before. He was a quality rider and probably could have had another world title but two really bad crashes and what happened with Darcy understandably knocked the wind out of his sails. He can still do an okay job in the UK but his gp days are gone, you have to admire his courage as the injuries he's had would have finished a lot of riders.

But nevertheless a great rider who gives his all.

I wouldn’t have thought that about Douglas either but he stepped up to be counted when taking over the number 1 race jacket and is now a 9+ rider. I’d have put them in a similar bracket before this year so it can be done. Everyone is different of course but Pickering just strikes me as that sort of confident character that would be inspired by being the main man rather than a support act. We’ll see. InTheDeepStuff
Everyone expecting Jack Holder back providing he proves his fitness over the winter, is it still but one Holder get one free? I don’t see the value in Chris’ average especially if he ends up at 5. Rumours of some new faces and some that have been there a few years exiting the scene. 1 J Holder 8.75 2 Brennan 5.76 3 C Holder 7.25 4 B Cook 6.62 5 6 7 Rising Star Points limits of anything between 37-40 been mentioned, initially was told it was 40 limit will see it’s been diluted. If it’s 40 then Sheffield have 11.62 for 2 riders, if it’s 37 then 8.62 for 2 riders Think they need a strong number 5 to back up J Holder, shame former Tiger Musielak going to Northampton as would have been a good option at number 5. Pretty certain it’s 37 points for the top 6. Edited 1 hour ago by Steve Irving

Remember with Iverson was installed as Lynn's number one everyone was thinking he's not good enough and he then really stepped up as a world class rider a bit like Doyle he made the jump relatively late in his career.
