Don't want bates back he was so inconsistent this year and rode better for Coventry than us

Whether we want him back or not; with his family connections he won't be going anywhere..

I do think he could and should at least up his average to 6.5+ next year. Saying that I thought that this year.

It seems that next year we'll be riding in a smaller league (the Championship) consisting of Berwick, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Ipswich, Newcastle, Peterborough, Redcar, Scunthorpe, Sheffield, and possibly Workington. We'll be racing on a 2 x home and 2 x away basis, with automatic promotion for the champions to the higher league (Premiership). Rye House and Somerset have opted for the Premiership in 2017.

Crucially, we'll only have 40 points to play with in building a team.

there's no automatic promotion... winners of championship playoffs vs bottom of premiership, if championship team win they swap places

hasnt that been done before and failed ? a new brush sweeps clean as long as they change the person on the handle . good to see the bspa are no longer trying to call a poor product elite, so now they are going to ruin the premier name as well !

SpeedwayGB Retweeted Jez Lynch

No it would be 3 - only those riders who have ridden in the league and failed to achieve a 3 - ie Josh Bailey will be 2.05 approx we think!

SpeedwayGB added,

@speedwayGB so a young NL rider like JPB or Jack Smith would come into #SGBChampionship on 2 point average if team spot available?

Swap Greaves for Bailey, & you have a good team there Spin King.

Swap Greaves full stop! Sheffield should have ditched him June/July, it was quite obvious by then that he wasn't good enough for the Premier league! Can't persist with him next year surely.

Having read the release from the promotors meeting and the two lines that refer to this are to my mind rather vague and open to interpretation, stating 'Championship clubs must include include a young Brit with a 3-point average. In a bid to help young riders get a team spot any rider who hasn't achieved a 3-point average will come in on a minimum of 2'.

For a start it doesn't say what league they've had to achieve that 3-point average in. The only league mentioned is the Championship, which actually doesn't exist yet (only in name) so no one has ridden in it!

British youngster - will there actually be an age limit put on this? (The British 'youngster' rule in the Elite league was a bit of a farce was it not.)

So to put it into context does it mean the riders who come in on a 3-point average will have achieved that in the existing Premier league or National league? Or is it that if they have not yet ridden in the existing Premier league they come in on a minimum 2-point average?

Think the BSPA have to make a more detailed press release for the purposes of clarity.
