It may be better to just build a new track on the ground originally earmarked for football pitches, keep the pits where they are, turn the stands around. All that's needed is a few 100 grand and new planning permission. Easy peasy. It kind of sums Speedway up in a nutshell really... Even with a blank canvas they managed to balls it up
Nobblytriers 201 Posted October 24, 2018 How about removing most of the back straight stand and widening the track there? That way you'd get good exits out of turn 2 and a variety into turn 3.

It could make it better we can hope........ Seems logical. Although we had a great summer weather wise, the start of the season was marred with a lot of rain and it appeared bend 3 suffered through poor drainage which left a good portion of it in a soft condition longer than the remainder of the track as drier conditions arrived. Subsequently, it was evident entry into turn 3 was affected by bumps no doubt caused by the inclement weather and less than comparable and satisfactory drying factors which the intended remedial work will resolve. I guess that would fit in with flagrag's "some will like it, but some won't" speculation

flagrag 704 Posted October 24, 2018 Don’t worry the back straight stand is not being removed as it’s well used by fans and is the only covered area other than the seating on the home straight. As others have said over the course of the season a few lumps and bumps have appeared on the track due to use and drainage areas. This and other work will be done during the winter to make the track and racing even better.

I don't think that would go down very well if they had to be removed.

Now that is something my son has always said about Speedway as he thinks the race is always decided in the first lap, or in his view the first bend. I've tried to get him interested over the years but to no avail.
magnificentseven 236 Posted October 25, 2018 Rumour I heard from a source that would know is that Leicester want to drop down next year.

Glennylion 89 Posted October 25, 2018 Flagrag quickly dismissed the notion of removing the back straight stand having previously suggested not all changes for next year will suit everyone. One would assume silence regarding rumours of potentially dropping down a league as some form of weak confirmation of the management's intentions.
Liontamer 202 Posted October 25, 2018 I really hope they do drop down, premier league my arse.
