Ipswich vs Sheffield Monday 7th September
Aries replied to Aries's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Just watched this back, good to see Lawson looking happy in the pits and seemingly getting on very well with general manager Andrew Chisholm. IF there was any issue there, certainly looks like it’s been resolved. Was on the parade truck also. -
Must admit, I was thinking the same thing. Who exactly is being petitioned here? There's no government department blocking a return of the sport. There's no council who needs to be pushed to grant additional planning permission. All that is needed is a promoter to come along and pay the rent money to Spedeworth, and away we go. OK it may not be easy to find rich promoter willing to put up the rent money and operational costs, but we're certaiinly not going to be able to petition the government to pay the rent for us!

Didn’t Coleman himself say Wroclaw would have an influence and would have an input on the Ipswich team building next year? The Wroclaw fella is also now a director at Ipswich. He also said about multi contracts across the two clubs so you’d think there’s almost certain to be at least one rider who rides for both clubs. Someone like Mikkel Andersen maybe?
-
That's just Dan T. Absolutely no chance Lawson, Pickering, Masters etc are riding on Rising Star money in the Championship.
-
I’d be VERY surprised if Bewley ended up at Ipswich next year. Things could change of course, but as it stands that one is highly unlikely.
-
As a generic indicator it might be ok but it's an odd medium to pick to gauge it. Without some indication of intended league and race night it's going to be pretty meaningless.
-
The fans, expect an extra £2-£3 on the entrance
-
So a "good" offer was turned down and no tv contract was entered in to for this season. Doesn't quite add up that The ongoing question for any terrestrial or indeed cable tv channel is who is it envisaged will pay the production costs? 1. The BSPL 2.The tv channel 3. A combination of the above
-
Domino effect potentially on the cards due to the Wroclaw agreement as well as the Swedish tyre fiasco. Bewley -> Ipswich Fricke -> Belle Vue Lambert -> King's Lynn
-
Have to be a bit careful and respectful as I was in a very privileged position a few weeks back thanks to someone on here so all I’ll say is Doyle is “desperate to come back next year”, but the angle I took was that he’s plan B if others moves don’t come to fruition. He’s not the type to sit around waiting for a place as we know. There’s no shortage of ambition I can tell you that, so we’ll have to wait and see what is delivered.

Where is the money coming from then for this expanded league with better riders?

Nice bloke didn’t work out as a number one for Lynn -
When Dan T discussed points money on his Vlog, there wasn't too much difference from being a No1 in the Championship to being a RS in the top league... The figures he quoted means as a second string in tier one, he must be on a fair few quid more than in the Championship... However, naturally, points will be easier to come by in the Championship... If a TV deal gets signed, I can see "engine room" riders being given decent "guarantees" to ride in the top tier, if they get a place in Poland ..
-
I wouldn't be surprised tbh, Doyley would want a local Club that's not named King's Lynn when it comes to British Speedway imo.
-
Bob Dugard told me one year he put in 100k when the Eagles were in Elite League and didn't Bob Crimson go through 180k? Long time since Eastbourne had a crowd which paid the bills on a regular basis.
-
What do you reckon for Ippo then? I was guessing Doyle + Woryna at 1 &5. Woryna and another? Musielak at 5 still? Or 2 above him? Heard anything?
-
Depends what rider's want. Even if they sign in Poland, they may still prefer the Championship over the Premiership due to the number of fixtures and weekend fixtures if they're not picked by their Polish club. The Premiership won't get it all their own way for sure.
-
Have a hunch (that’s all it is) that Doyle will be there also.
-
Brennan really shouldn't have signed for Bydgoszcz with the team they had tbh. When it comes to young Brits in Poland, They should sign for the teams with the weakest line-ups as it'll increase the chances of starts.
-
No that's in the past, I'm just saying that the script has been flipped now due to the Polish ruling and it's quite ironic considering what happend last winter.
-
I think Ellis is at Northampton next year, pretty sure he signed a deal for 2027 when he joined for the last few matches this season
