Is there any motorsport that is actually run without all these issues. -
I’d say most championship teams will need significant changes if it’s on big league not just scunny!
-
Poole always needed Zach back so very good news he will be. You can't say Gilkes will never stay fit, he has been unlucky with injuries and has had many but you can't say he will never stay fit. As for Kerr he now has a low average considering his ability so I expect an increase.

As Dean alludes, the ACU have got themselves in a right mess with Grass Track and have lost Track Racing Committee Members one after the other since they treat Paul Hurry very shabbily. It currently has a "steering" group made up of ACU officials and representatives from regional clubs holding the fort until a solution can be found. They can't make their mind up which way to go so are conducting a "root and branch" review of the sport before deciding a way forward. Have a look at the press releases on the ACU web page and you'll see it all has a familiar ring to it. -
Bit dramatic I think, Lawson was the best rider in the league last year, and certainly can do that again, Kerr improved as the year went on, if he picks up where he left off his average will certainly go up. Cairns has potential to be one of the best reserves in the league, so does the rumoured other reserve for the pirates. I can’t comment on Bowes other than he looked lightning quick in a few of his races round Poole last year. Gilkes will relish riding with Lawson and if he stays fit he could hit a GSA of 5. If Zach signs he will probably be the best number 5 in the league, so Poole would have the Best 1 and 5 and potentially the best reserves. And then 3 riders I expect averages to go up

Oh dear, the whole system in both areas then don’t give much hope for the future. -
...and how is your team shaping up for 2026 TTT?
-
Didn’t they announce Palovaara as completing their heat leader trio which confirms no Drew? “ BERWICK have added Swedish star Victor Palovaara to their heat-leader department for the 2026 season.”
-
Don’t think Francis Gusts (5.49) or Cameron Heeps (4.93) will fit at Oxford if they sign Killeen and McDiarmid as expected. Could they be the final two?
-
Another early finish for some teams, only 11 guaranteed fixtures.
- Today
-
Championship clubs already selling season tickets for 8 league matches 2 BSN plus 1KO cup

What will 2026 UK speedway bring?

Could Coventry be back for 2027. They will be backed by guys with deep pockets. -
Poole need Zach Cook to save the day because the side looks a little weak at the moment. Gilkes can never stay fit hence why he's always on bargin averages, Kerr is declining and has no improvement left in him and Bowes isn't that good tbh.
-
Because Rob and co. have jumped the gun. The entire planned 1-7 is a write off if Sheffield compete in One Big League.
-
With his average why would he start anywhere else?
-
Who are the pilots? Maybe Zach will be flying next season!
-
Sign them 2 that leaves 10.97 for final 2 riders

This may be of interest from almost 50 years ago, a passage from an Ivan Mauger book first published in 1976 which attributes the piece to George Barclay; "If 1976 was the year that saw a comparative explosion of press and television coverage, I hope '77 will be a year that sees speedway being accepted by the media nationally. To establish this we must put our house in order and lose the incidents that make us seem a joke sport. After all, what other sport has it's rules and regulations drawn up only to see them over-ruled by "special dispensation" on so many issues? In what other league competition can a competitor appear for teams other than his own, and by doing so jeopardise his own teams chance of championship honours? Walk outs! Either by individuals or by whole teams. These and many other silly facets can only cause harm to speedway, and the circumstances leading to them must be eradicated once and for all. For surely they prevent our sport being respected as a serious one and worthy of "press" attention even though it is so largely supported. The time is long overdue for the relative ruling bodies to get together in amending the rules with speedway the consideration. We know it would benefit us all eventually." Oaksey was the editor so I dare say there's a bit of his own agenda in there. -
