What about Northampton?
YeOldPitGate replied to RoundTheBoards's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
That's my thoughts you know support is there already so way less financial risk ,then get 2026 out of the way whilst trying to formulate some kind of plan for 2027 all be it given all the issues with doubling up and riders dictating when the club can operate and the top league subsiding the championship to a degree I'm at a loss as to what anything workable could look like. -
Wonder if Cairns or Zischke will end up with the higher average this season? Both are capable of putting a point or two on their starting averages imo.

I doubt he will race here again.

But he hates us. He said so on the official press release when “legend” Louis tried to flog us to that charlatan a few years ago!!! 🙄

well aware thank you

Surely it'd be infinitely easier to continue to run Ippo if the sale fell through rather than start a new operation in Northampton

This might get you started with post 1965 clubs. https://wwosbackup.proboards.com/board/71/teams

He did at Peterborough. The team there was stronger as crowds were better ,therefore better finance

Hopefully Ipswich will get over the line and if it does I would have thought Northampton will be canned as I'm more getting the impression its back up plan z if Ipswich falls through. Some credit is due if its existing prem promoters who are going to underwrite the expected losses to keep the top league going but as 99% of us on here have said at some point they are going to have to accept the current format just doesn't work anymore and the only way forward unless Futures really do come through is paring back the product to most likely championship lite standard and starting again. -

Hi is that Emil? If you ride for Ipswich in 2026 we’ll guarantee you a go spot in 2027 are you in? -
Perry barr was in that very diverse community that you talk about and they couldn't care less about speedway. I know, we tried

Maybe, the new owners plan a ‘major’ PR event. Rather than just publicising the completion of the takeover, they may also want to announce the 2026 1-7 at the same time. That approach would be understandable, hence the need for the No 1 to be signed up prior to any announcement.

To be fair thats how the Workington sides have been built since their return with sh#t or bust riders, unpredictable makes for great viewing (providing they turn up), however if a season of consistency hits then big things could happen. I really hope so. There appears to be a better vibe coming from the club than in previous years. Getting off to a good start and a consistent home surface are key -

The lease was far longer than that. I believe there were about 17 years left. The rubgy club have even lifted the shale without telling the stock car promoters !! -

Down last season tho,and who knows what effect a 12%price hike will have on this seasons attendance?? -
Leicester always seemed 2nd best when they were in the same league as Sheffield under the Bates

Wouldn't worry about Scunny's side because it's going to get ripped up when Picko gets a proper GSA.

Needs Erik Riss to stay fit all season, though. If he does - and he shows the sort of form he showed in the Premiership last season - he's arguably the signing of the year in the Champ. It's a big IF though. If he's out for large parts of the season, there's no guest/replacement that will offer his scoring power on that average. -
Also ties in with the Tai Woffinden SpeedwayStar article and rumour though. Question is when did Tai give that interview to the SpeedwayStar about not getting any offers from British Clubs and have Mayfield Sports contacted him after the interview?

Oxford's top three power against Poole reserve power for the title, in my opinion. Those are the two teams that stand out, although I think it looks a more competitive league than we've seen in the last few seasons (3rd to 8th could be any order, with Scunthorpe last). 1. Oxford 2. Poole 3. Glasgow 4. Berwick 5. Plymouth 6. Redcar 7. Edinburgh 8. Workington 9. Scunthorpe
