  1. Past hour
  2. First trip to Northampton last night and it is an impressive venue with great facilities, helped by the fact it was a beautiful night. The track is poor right now and I would say it is definitely one of the poorer meetings I’ve seen all season but hopefully they can work on the shape and surface during the off season. As someone who only really ever goes to Championship meetings I did find the atmosphere completely different and frankly disappointing, I can understand it to a certain degree from the Northampton perspective as they are trying to build up a fanbase, I was surprised that given there was so many Belle Vue fans and that they won the meeting they didn’t seem to react to anything all night, no cheers, no big reactions when they got a 5-1 or anything like that. It felt the total opposite to the Championship on that front for sure. It would be good to see the Foxes pick up a few more wins and build a winning team next season, British speedway needs it and the setup is arguably the best in the league apart from Belle Vue. The barman was also very good especially given how busy it was.

  4. Answer:- nobody wants to ride with Batchelor in the team
  5. Stewart certainly knows way more than me. I just hope we get Tofts best effort. I will be delighted if he proves me wrong.
  6. Not the first time a rider has failed to make an appearance at Edinburgh but he actually did ok around Plymouth .
  7. I'll put money on R/R scoring more than Lambert would've.
  8. I attend 3 different tracks most other weeks, Workington, Berwick and Redcar, fixtures allowing, and they all do it differently but at least they do it so not all clubs are failing at it.
  9. I agree with you, I know also it’s a pipe dream and the only thing that would make it reality would be big sponsorship deals plus prize money for being in and win in the top league, respectively. Next year will be massive and Poland have a giant part to play. If they uphold their decision that only a rider can race in Poland plus one league (not country) then a lot of riders in the championship will have big decisions of what league to ride in as it may force their hand. If that happens then Poole and Glasgow will have a big decision regarding to stay in a watered down champ or move to the prem with potential TV money. Richard is clearly trying to move the sport this way and get the Prem as the so called “promise land”. If this happens and you can stabilise it, then maybe, just maybe, promotion and relegation can be the next move. Where teams fear for relegation and loss of income and champ teams dream of promotion and financial gain.
  10. Can you imagine the phone conversations.... Foxes Promotion: Would you like to ride in the UK Prem next year? Speedway Rider: Maybe which team? Foxes Promotion: Northampton Speedway Rider: Who? Wheres that? Foxes Promotion: Braefield Speedway Rider: Whats a Braefield? Whats the track like? Foxes Promotion: Can't really tell you that yet.....we have got Troy Batchelor signed up Speedway Rider: hangs up phone.....
  11. Can only see a home win with Monarchs too strong throughout for a weakened Bears . Pity as with Pijper Bears reserves may have made it interesting but with Lambert also missing with a ‘ speedway related injury ‘ ( ? ) can only see a comfortable home win with the bonus point added.
  12. Nothing but a miserable sod who picks his meetings for his points
  13. Today
  14. Yes but they have not been hammered. All meetings home and away have been close. A one rider change is enough to make the difference between losing and winning.
  15. Friday 10th July - Armadale Stadium - 19:30 Edinburgh Monarchs - Dan Thompson, Jonatan Grahn, Justin Sedgmen, Paco. Castagna, Kye Thomson, Mitch Cluff, Jordy Loftus Redcar Bears - Nicolai Klindt, Simon Lambert r/r, Jake Mulford, Jason Edwards, Jake Allen, Vinnie Foord, Jody Scott Edinburgh at full strength, Redcar have Monarchs Academy rider Vinnie Foord in place of Ace Pijper and R/R for Simon Lambert. Redcar have a very good recent record at Armadale so I think it will be close with the Bears favourites for the aggregate bonus.
  16. Trouble also is many riders also are now taking the pi§§
  17. Watched rerun on BSN (a lot of fast forwarding through FTG races) well done King’s Lynn on a great comeback to grab all 3 points available on the night Know there’s not a lot of choice out there to replace Jack Holder (that will come at a cost that’s achievable to pay anyway) so unfortunately stuck with guests or R/R for the foreseeable, is there any chance Sheffield might look to strengthen the number 6 slot at reserve? Etheridge ok at Owlerton but usually unreliable away from there, wonder if any options of someone who maybe able to give them a bit more especially away from Owlerton, be interesting to see what’s out there on an average of just over 3 when converted from Championship (or historical Premiership) 🤷‍♂️
  18. Does anybody know if this meeting ever took place or is it the case of British Speedway lets be re-active rather than pro-active and addressing the situation earlier. BECAUSE with Lindgren, Bewley, Holder injuries , you can only believe that Polish Speedway will look to prevent riders even riding in Sweden, Denmark and UK.
  19. The very same. We were regulars at Eastbourne and the children (16+20 now) were introduced to speedway in a carrycot. Week in , week out even in the NL days. We would go and watch speedway when they raced away at Lakeside and took them to Rye House when the opportunity allowed. Now with demise of Eastbourne (rinsed by Ian Jordan) and no Lakeside there is no speedway close to us in Greater London / Surrey. So we have had a trip to Oxford and a trip to Norfolk last year and watched a meeting at Kings Lynn + Ipswich but with no league racing on tv - HBO/TNT/BT it is now just a case of checking results on the BSN app + watching races on twitter. Our speedway fix now is the SGP series on TV, my daughter returns from University for each SGP and we watch it as a family. That's it !! The sport is in Cardiac arrest !!
  20. Paul Hurry is becoming a joke. Threw away a BP in our Home meeting vs. Belle Vue by not picking Rider of the Night (Musielak) and has now followed that up by blaming Stewart Dickson for track work taking place during a Home defeat to Leicester. I don't think Paul has a clue tbh and a new Team Manager for 2027 should be on Mayfield's list of jobs to do.
  21. I'm not sure a lot of Prem clubs could afford it tbh. There would need to be some kind of contract between club and riders, and that might come down to who can pay the most to get "their" men on standby. I doubt riders would do it unless the money was good to cover bikes over here as well, as you say.
