Ut oh! Here we go again!  Thing is Daniel, the meeting wasn't due to take place '6.5 miles from King's Lynn!'

 

Knowing the King's Lynn promotion as I do and trackman Huggy, I think I can confidently say that if they could have got the meeting on, then they would have.

Im not denying that, as i have been to meetings at lynn that look as tho they should be cancelled and huggy and his crew have re- layed the track to get the meeting on.

 

It just seems as tho whenever a meeting is called off due to rain it suddenly stops.

Maybe in future the ref should say the meetings are cancelled but not actually cancel them, then it may go are way! KNOW WHAT I MEAN.

i think the way the rain was coming down (at the track ) it would have made it difficult relaying any surface ... the CotC said there was plenty dry to put down but i guess it would need to have stopped raining to be able to do this ... the forecast was for the bulk of the rain to hit at about 6pm.

 

i was there about 2.45 and the track was wet but certainly rideable ... unfortunately from then on it rained on and off and at times pretty heavy, making doing anything pretty damn awkward.

 

 

the pictures 5327, 5328, 5329, 5330 were taken at about 3pm ... the rest were at 4.30pm, so therefore the early pictures were the ones where i said it was rideable (note i said rideable, not raceable), the last few were when it had gone beyond rideable.

 

if the track had no more water on it from 3pm, i would say there would have been a cracker of a meeting after the first couple of heats.

Since the meeting has been called off we havent had a drop of rain here. sounds a bit like sundays meeting.

Well it's now 2010 and it's been raining solidly 2 miles from the track since 1700 and it's still p*ssing down. I spoke to Cheryl Chapman mid afternoon and her major fear was starting the meeting and being unable to finish it. As she said that would be unfair to everyone. She was also concerned that the meeting should be called off in time to stop away fans travelling. At a time when she and the rest of the family have more things on her mind than speedway, her major concern was for the fans.

Quick update on JC... I spoke to Keith yesterday and can confirm that he is OK. There was no RTA - he had a tumble from a mini bike, hurt his back and ended up needing medical treatment for an unrelated back problem. He is due out of hospital now and should be fine for next week.

I'm one who's old enough to have seen Jonathan's dad Buster ride speedway - he used to crash a lot too!

This Wednesday the British Under 21 Speedway Final will take place at King's Lynn Speedway for the first time ever in the history of the club, it is a proud moment for the father and son promotership of Keith and Jonathan Chapman, who have worked hard to bring a meeting of this pedigree to Norfolk for years, 'We were elated to get the news that we would be hosting this years British Under 21 Final, we have a fast a well prepared track that will produce some great racing, the British youngsters have really come on over the past few years to match our European counterparts and we will see a young and very exciting line up take to the track in what is expected to be a very tough competition with no clear cut favourites, we are aiming to put on a great show as always with slick presentation and great music' said Jonathan Chapman.

The meeting was originally scheduled for 2 weeks ago but bad weather intervened, this time round the forecast is a lot better and thankfully all the riders from the original date will be there once again, including Elite League sensation, Lewis Bridger, ' His season has really started to kick off, he is a sensational rider scoring 14 points at Wolverhampton the other night and beating Billy Hamill in the process, it is even more amazing when you consider he is only 16 years old, if you mix him with track specialist, James Brundle, and with other established riders such as James Wright, Edward Kennett, Jason King, Daniel King, Steve Boxall and the up and coming but very talented riders of Josh Auty, William Lawson and Richie Dennis you can see why it is so hard to pick a winner, we will also have Boston rider and Stars asset, Simon Lambert, taking to the track in a pre-meeting race where he will get the chance to compete in the whole meeting if he wins it! said Keith Chapman.

The day will start at 2pm when the riders will get in a much wanted 2 hour practice session, then there will be an hour of 250cc speedway bike demonstrations, at 5pm their will be an autograph session in the bar and at 6pm, Error 404, a young local up and coming band, will take to the stage for an hour long live performance before parade at 7:30pm, racing will start at 7:45pm with 20 qualifying heats, a semi-final and a Grand Final, 'It should be a fun day if people can make it along, we will have all the amenities open for refreshments and I'm sure the riders would appreciate the support earlier on, we will then be geared up for a big crowd later in the evening as we will be expecting supporters from Scunthorpe, Mildenhall, Ipswich, Sheffield, Eastbourne, Rye House and King's Lynn to all come along and support their riders.
